~ Heroes 6 patch 1.5.2 - Discussion thread ~

This thread is for discussing your oppinions on the most recent patch 1.5.2 for Might And Magic: Heroes 6.

The patch was released on July 25th.

To discuss the previously latest versions of the game, patch 1.4, use the old discussion thread.

Quote:
Hello Heroes,

The patch 1.5 will bring back brand new townscreens to the Heroes series (…): townscreens are 2D and fully animated. We really suggest you to check them out ingame!

This time we also focused on the balancing: to accomplish such a tremendous task, we gathered a lot of your feedback (thank you for sharing your thoughts and analysis with us!) and worked closely with the VIP fans. Today you can test the first results. As Limbic confirms (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWj1XVFo9Bw), it is not the last balance update. We will monitor closely how it works and bring changes if needed in the next patches. You can still share your ideas and thoughts with us on the official or community forums as your help is very appreciated by the dev team!

The last and the very awaited change we promised you to bring to Heroes 6 in the patch 1.5 is compatibility of online and offline saves. Unfortunately, this change will not be a part of the patch 1.5 and will be released later on. This last minute change is due to unexpected technical constrains that force us to go back a bit to the drawing board regarding our approach. The plan is to develop this feature as intended but will require a few more weeks of fine tuning before getting a proper release. We are really sorry about that. We are aware that you are eagerly waiting for this update and how important it is for you and we’ll do our best to release it shortly.

Regarding the latest Uplay update and related issues with users’ saves: saves may have temporarily disappeared from your folder “\Documents\Might & Magic Heroes VI”. The issue is currently under investigation on our side and we are closely monitoring the situation with the Uplay team in order to sort this out as soon as possible. In the meantime and while waiting for the patch 1.5 and the Adventure Pack to be released tonight by 6:30 pm, let’s have a look at the release notes:

Game Interface:

Added the Townscreens for all factions
Added a “Close Townscreens button” replacing the “Next Turn” button in the Townscreen Menu.
Added a Hide GUI button in the Townscreen Menu

Game Content:
Added the Adventure Pack compatibility
·      Bug Fixes:

o   The spellbook of a dead secondary hero remains active and the town portal can be used after the secondary hero is killed by the AI.
o   Incorrect percentage given by the Arachne's level 4 ability (Life Drain). Correct damage to life percentage is now applied no matter the stack size (15% of the damage is transformed to life)
o   The tooltip for the "Creatures, Heroes and Towns" tab in the Kingdom Overview, contains debug text.

Major Balancing effort:

Abilities modifications:

Direct Damage Spells power increase
Healing Spells mana cost increase
Creature Abilities:

Heal Core Units abilities only available for the upgraded version
Light decrease on several Creature Abilities

Hero Passive and Active Abilities
Passive Characteristics bonuses increase
Reputation Abilities

Light characteristics modifications on all Faction units
Abilities/Creatures Description and Background modifications:
Chain Lightning Hero Ability tooltip is now: Deals <HPdamage> damage (Air) to the target stack and jumps to three extra enemy stacks. Damage is reduced by 15% by each jump.
Lightning Bolt Hero Ability tooltip is now: Deals <Minimum HPdamage – Maximum HPdamage> damage (Air) to target enemy creature.
Fireball Hero Ability tooltip is now: Deals <HPdamage> damage (Fire) in target 3x3 area."
“Acid Cloud” Hero Ability display name now replaced “Poison Cloud” Hero Ability.
Acid Cloud Hero Ability is now: Creates a 3x3 cloud of acid which deals <HPdamage> damage (Earth) each turn. Lasts until the end of the combat.
Acid Cloud description in Spell book is now: Conjures a 3x3 cloud of acid which inflicts Earth Damage every turn. Lasts until the end of the battle.
Abyss Gate Hero Ability tooltip is now : Currently acting friendly stack returns to the Abyss, then comes back in reinforced in the next turn. The gate remains on the combat map and can be destroyed. If the gate is destroyed the stack can only return after the combat. Will not increase stacks above their original maximum.
Fog Veil Hero Ability effect tooltip is now: All Creatures affected by Storm Winds are now dealt <HPdamage> damage (Air) and also inflicted by the “Dazed” effect.

Just played a fast game (bridge to far) in the new patch and I was positivly surprised.

The Townscreens add a lot to the atmosphere. Especialy inferno realy has a specific unique feeling.
The buff of the Inferno is noticible. Luck comes more often, this gives more importance to Gating and also hleps their damage output.

And even the FORTS have there own town screens. This is a very nice toche.

In general it looks promising, Wonder how a normal game or Campaigne will feel.

I've been able to play a bridge too far too. Maybe I can play any custom game but trying to load up a saved game or starting a new campaign from the latest missions crashes to desktop.

So far I've checked several town screens (stronghold, haven, sanctuary).

Overall they really do add much to the atmosphere, and also work in favor of their music themes. They never lived up on the town windows but now they are more catchy.

The whole town interface seems to work much better now. Also, we can see creature growth! One gets some nice goodies when they are not limited by window size and get a lot of space.

Now onto the specific towns - Sanctuary was really good. I was little less impressed by stronghold, as many of their buildings are built behind the UI . Haven seems to be the worst atm, as some of the town hall huts strike the eyes with their illogical placements (half the building on the path, the other half clinging in the air).

But overall, the town screens yell success, they bring back a level of immersion that was really missing in this game.

Also, it seems that the pirate artifact set is available to everyone with 1.5 patch, and not limited to DLC customers (I encountered those artifacts even though I haven't purchased the DLC).

I can't say much about the save/load issues that many seem to be mentioning as I had a fresh install not long ago in anticipation of this patch.

Enough for now, time to go back to game .

A lot of loading needed to run the game and start the map. Anyway, the Inferno townscreen I have to say is impressive and the Stronghold one is better than I thought.
The Necro one is worse than I imagined it. The shading is absolutely ridiculous, a ten year old would understand it better! I havent noticed on the screenshots that Irina showed of the townscreens but the buildings of Sanctuary look really cut out and pasted. I thought it would be the best out of all the Townscreen, but Inferno is my favorite... the Haven one - no comment.

Oh and I saw that I can recruit only 9 Maniac, but it shows that his growth is 11? Hmmmm...

@yasmiel
My thoughts exactly!

Btw ubi called the limbic guys to return in the office and fix the save issue overnight. They should have a hot fix sometime tomorrow.

yeah, I've no idea what kind of drugs they were smoking when they decided to remove the town screens . This patch changed my mind a bit and I'm starting to think about buying the dlc in the future.

About the save issue, if you don't want to wait til they fix it, you can just restart the current map (not the entire campaign) you were playing.

Creature growth in town screen was a pleasant surprise for me!

And I hope for their sake that the offline/online save issue is resolved over the night with a hotfix, and not in a couple of weeks like Irina said.

That one I don't think so, the issue limbic is working on this evening is the earlier saves crashing the game when you load them.

EDIT:

I just realized.. If you access the altar of wishes you can buy all the starting heroes for 0 gold There are also dynasty heroes to unlock such as Xana, Kaspar etc and heroes with unique models such as Acamas though they are more costly.

Are save games of a campaign from a previous patch compatible with this patch? Tried loading one twice now, and both times the game just closed down. That'll be a problem for my LP if that's the case. Gonna have to restart a scenario I guess.

Patch 1.5 a beauty

Loving the various town windows with the animations.
Nice changes to luck (Luck III gives 16 luck).

Regarding the save games, Limbic are working on the issue of older patch 1.4 save games to work properly (at the moment no-one can load them), the online/offline save synchronicity will come in the future.

I hope the older saves get fixed, as I was in the middle of a campaign, but note that you don't have to start the whole campaign again, only the current map. Although if we wait approx. 24 hours, Limbic might have fixed this.....wathc this space.

Oh man, that sucks. I'm not only in the middle of a campaign, I'm in the middle of recording it and putting it on Youtube. I got viewers that'll be pissed. Not to mention me. Guess this should be added to bug report though.

The patch is AMAZING. It basically rebalances the entire game, adds SEVERAL new beautiful and fun maps, TOWN and FORT screes (though I wish they would be slightly less static), LOTS of new purchaseale campaign heroes in the Altar of Wishes. I'm now actually motivated to get more points and higher rank.

I've not bought the DLC yet but will probably do. The game is really, really fun now. I used to hate it but now I've been playing all night!

I'm playing Inferno and it's a really fun and powerful faction now. The Maniacs feel weak though, just compare their stats and abilities to the Hellhounds. Though usually, it is the Hellhounds who always get hit anyway. xD

What I don't like is how they nerfed the Infernal Gate special building, but I guess it was very OP for you to get a free two-way teleport on week 1.

...FORT screes

Wow, Forts also have their own screens!? Are these fort screen the same with town screens (Haven fort = Haven town) or not? If they are different, please, somebody, attach the fort screens!

On the town screens, how are they? Are there still many inappropriate perspective/shadows/building size?

So, this is online feature only? Darn. I hope Ubimbic make it works in offline too.

Wow, i just went to the Ubisoft forum and what a mess, the only thing i see there are a bunch of people crying about a minor bug instead of being happy that the devs really improved a whole lot of things and in the time they said they would. Anyway, seriously i dont know why they ommited the TS in the actual release, just that made the game really enjoyable, not to mention fort screens. And i too noticed that the sound bug is gone. So we can play at max speed and hear normal sound. Also the new heroes in the alter of wishes and the pirate set. This is a serious "Good Job" to the developers here.

Not sure if this is exclusive for people that bought the DLC only, but bottom right of the main menu, there's a <--> button, hitting that you can change the main background from the knight in front of a castle to a Crag Hack themed DLC... I'll grab a pic in a min...

I want to say that the patch has gone a *long* way to making me have faith in H6. Great job Ubi and Limbic. Balance changes seem to be in the right vein, and I can only hope the game keeps being modified like this in the future.

So many heroes, and costly. So many you cant even buy them all, well yes can but not if you plan to buy all the D. triets like I do. But still I could not resist not to buy Hiroshi.
A funny part is, that you can buy the DLC heroes whitout buying the DLC..

The forts are a bit cartoony but I love them. I so wish they could have been there from the beginning but apparently by the time they realized they were essential, they could no longer delay the game. Ah well, I expect the next time to be done just right. Or else I will assassinate their corrupt officials myself
