It still felt odd the orc was saying things of the sort, that he has more knowledge than he should about what Tristan was now. How? Was he somehow involved with the body swapping that had happened, outside of getting his own body swapped? In fact, maybe it was all an act on his part. Tristan frowned, looking away from him. He'd just go along with it, for now.

"Fine. We should get going, then."

He placed the book back, and took hold of his mace.

"Bloody channelers..." Mat muttered, pulling his staff from the soft ground of the swamp. "Keeps your bloody books in their bloody damn pockets, we have work to do here..." What Mat could gather from the looks the "cleric" (Whatever that bloody was) was giving it, he didn't even understand what was written inside! Yes it was written in a strange language, but why would you carry around something you couldn't understand? Mat walked deeper into the swamp, looking about warily for more dragon flies with his weapon held low.

"Channeler? What is a channeler?"

Tristan suspected it had something to do with magic. Maybe even something he had done. Maybe something to do with this cleric the orc had been calling him. Sure, Tristan knew what a cleric was, but he was unsure how he looked like one, or why a cleric could cast spells. He shrugged, and followed the moody one.

Broïndur was feeling around in the mud for the thing that fell in the water when Grog tapped him on the shoulder.
"Let's continue."
"I'll be right along and catch up we ye." he more coughed then said. "Just trying to get the swampwater out of me nose." He snorted and coughed some more
The others left and after a bit more probing, Broïndur located something hard and far to round, smooth and symetrical to be a rock.
After quickly rinsing off most of the mud, he discovered it to be a coin. Broïndur quickly thrust it in the pocket of the kilt his body was wearing. With a pang, the coin triggered one of the basest Dwarf instincts, hoarding.
His companions was busy trecking further through the swamp, but they were talking loudly and were likely to scare off most game. And they would not be around to look over his shoulder.
Broïndur took to gathering the corpses, partly because they were required to bring proof of their kills and his companions had not done so, partly to see of there was more coin in the guts of the creatures. Gripping his axe just under the head, Broïndur gutted the beasts. Their snake-like bodies made it rather easy to do so with a single goos swipe, even if the axe had not been designed for such practices. The effort proved fruitfull, and while most of what he pulled out were guts and bits of half-digested frogs, fish and other such prey, a handfull of other coins came out as well.
After the gutting, Broïndur used the snake-like bodies to tie the bodies together by the tails with a nearby vine. Not the most easy thing to do, but it would make them far more portable. Simply cutting off the heads would not do, since one of his companions went out of his way to crush the skulls by ways of finishing the beasts off. He ended up with a nice sheaf of Dragonfly corpses, which he slung over his shoulder and he made for his companions.

Swamp Group:

((I had wondered if you guys were going to forget what you came for. XD))

Broïndur finds a respectful 37 gold pieces among the Dragonflies' guts, plus a pair of copper rings (one of which is still on the remains of a severed humanoid finger). One is a plain copper band, the other has a milky white, pearl-shaped stone set into it. ((And your char having been a dwarf before the change, I'm going to assume he can tell what it is: it's quartz. If he can't tell, then it's a milky white stone. )) The latter seems...odd somehow. It seems lighter than it should be, but when he concentrates on it the ring feels normal.

((Afterwards: ))

Your group heads deeper into the swamps. Every now and then you hear more Dragonflies buzzing—it's louder to the north and west—but a few minutes of searching pass before you come close enough to see some.

This time it's a group of four, all a bright green; they appear to be diving after something in the water and pay you no notice at all. One comes up with a small fish in its fangs as you watch.

((This will be a 1 by the way.))

Putting the sheaf of corpses unceremoniously against a gnarled old tree, Broïndur readied his axe and shield both this time. Carefull not to make his spoils jingle too much. He had put the rings around his little fingers, as they were to small for any of the other one. The odd one with the inlaid quartz was now protected by his shield, the plain one, that he had to remove from the half-digested finger, was on his axehand now.
As the knives flew, Broïndur adopted a reassuringly familiar battlestance. One knife pinned one of the creatures against a tree through it's midsection, not killing it, but putting it out of battle for the time being. The other knife grazed a second one.
With a bellowing warcry, Broïndur charged out of the bushes running towards the small swarm, aiming a swing with the flat of his axe for the largest of the three remaining Dragonflies.

With two of the group charging into battle, Tristan decided to join them. He ran for the creatures as well. A couple swings, only one hit. It wasn't much of a hit either, as the dragonfly's body just went with the shape of his mace. The creature attempted to take the opportunity to strike back at Tristan's hand, but he was able to pull it away in time. Tristan looked around for any other possible immediate threats, seeing none. Though, he did notice one of the creatures near enough to a tree. With all the speed he could put into it, he swung at that creature, smashing its body into the side of the tree. It fell limp over the mace, until Tristan pulled the mace away.

Mat moved in right behind Tristan, waiting for an opening. Which came right when the "Cleric" swung out for the fly he had pinned to the tree. Mat engaged the one Trist had grazed, sweeping  from behind the cleric and catching the unsuspecting little reptile in the side of the head. It was merely knocked to the ground, but the nasty little beasty was stunned enough for Mat to drive the butt of his stave into its chest.

Broïndur hit the Dragonfly with the flat of his axe as he intended, knocking it to the ground. He swiftly followed it up by stomping on the beast's neck, crushing it in the process. And even though he wore greaves, he wore no shoes or boots over his heavily callused feet. So he could feel the vertebrea break.
The fight was pretty much over already when Broïndur looked up.

Swamp Group:

The last of the Dragonflies goes down and the group can hear the getting-familiar buzz of more approaching.

----------------

Bar Group:

((*poke*))

Rincewind's troubles aren't quite over; the blonde he observed earlier grabbing hats darts past him, a hat in hand, and the bearded bear of a man chasing her can't quite compensate for the change in direction fast enough and crashes into him. The blonde slips past Fandral and his tangle of drunk dwarves, steps over to a rain barrel and puts the hat on. After a moment of peering at her reflection (sidestepping another drunken brawler in the process) she seems to decide that no, she doesn't want this one after all and slips back into the chaos, leaving the hat on the bear-man's head as she passes but otherwise paying no mind to the mess.

What if Elvin was female?
posted August 15, 2012 08:05 PM

"Watch where you're going! You made me lose her!" Roared the bearded man while  trying to get up.

"Urrrghh..." Rincewind replied as the man's boot rooted itself in his stomach.

The bearded giant picked Rincewind up with one hand and shook a fist with the other.

"I guess I should teach you a lesson for that, huh?"

"You're probably right." Squeaked Rincewind trying to loosen the man's grip on his clothes.

The man clearly didn't expect this kind of answer. The tiny object in his head that functioned as his brain always told him that 'no' means 'yes', but it wasn't quite clear on what 'yes' means.

"What?"

"You are absolutely correct. I was in the wrong here and should be properly educated on the subject of correct behavior in public in times of bar fights. An important subject indeed. Why don't we schedule for Friday evening? That'll give me enough time to prepare potential questions for the lesson and be ready for your wisdom. I'm sure you'll want to prepare some notes first as well."

At this point the man's brain was in a complete state of panic and whimpered in the corner of his skull, relinquishing all control of his body. The man's body, being much quicker and better trained, grasped the opportunity to pack and go on a vacation, resulting in his hand releasing Rincewind and dwindling helplessly from his shoulder.

"Well... yeah... good. T'is how it should be. More people need to do that. Like that girl who snatched my hat."

"Absolutely correct!", Rincweind proclaimed with joy and eagerness to help. "I'll go find her and inform her of our upcoming lecture then, shall I?"

And without waiting for reply Rincewind jumped into the chaos of the fight right after the blonde. The bearded man, stood there for another minute, scratching his head and then headed home, his slowly recuperating brain trying to understand what's a lecture, why is it coming up and how one prepares notes for it.

The distraction drew in a few of the dragonflies. With the request of assistance from his new teammate, Tristan took advantage of the situation. He walked in behind the dragonflies that were paying far too much attention to the whirling metal, and used his shield to bash a couple into it. One of the two, a yellow one, kind of missed, only getting a wing sliced off, and fell into the swamp water. The other, one of the non-fire-spitting variety, was not so lucky. It went right into the blade, and got split into a few segments.

The third dragonfly that Tristan couldn't get with the shield bash, another of the yellows, turned from the metal. It looked very angry that it had been interrupted from what it was doing. It went in for a bite, but only managed to get a mouthful of shield.

Broïndur managed to deflect the incoming fire-breath with his shield, though it left a blackened scorchmark on it. Using his heating shield as cover he moved closer to the beast.
The creature darted backward when Broïndur got to close and continued to use fire. Unfortunately for the Dragonfly, it now had it's back to a particularly sturdy tree, but it was paying too much attention to Broïndur to notice. So Broïndur closed in again, using his shield as cover. This time, he got even closer before the Dragonfly darted back again. Into the tree and the beast was shortly stunned or startled by the collision, Broïndur did not realy care which it was for it gave him the oppertunity to get close enough to grab the creature behind the head like one would a normal serpent.
The Dragonfly however was not ready to give in just yet. Even though it was captured it was thrashing with its body and it opened its jaw. Broïndur could feel the throat of the creature growing hot and quickly surmized that it would breath fire again. Without much thought, he jammed the wicked metal shard on his shield into the open mouth of the beast, seperating it's lower jaw from it's upper counterpart and forced it down into the throat of the beast. The Dragonfly was now making a strange gurgling sound and likcs of flame were leaking out of the wound. Broïndur must've interupted the fire-generating process. With a sound not dissimilar to a belch fire shot out of the remainder of the creatures mouth and nose, while it's segemented eyes visibly boils in their sockets.
The creature, it's head fried by it's own fire, grew limp and Broïndur pulled the shard out of the creature, the metal an orange tint due to the heat and his shield hand slightly singed, and  discarded the body for the moment.
