Rincewind looked his companion in the face. His stomach twisted and managed to look into itself.

"Put that back, will you? And hold this."

He gave the glass to Mat and went over to the dead man. Rincewind took out one of his knives and cut out a big part of the man's undershirt. It was a bit scorched here and there, but the breastplate took most of the damage. He then took the glass from his one-eyed friend, wrapped it in the cloth and put it in another pocket.

"Right. Let's go now."

He went to the edge of floor and looked down.

"Ummmm... you first."

Mat rolled his eye and put the patch back on. "Act like you've never seen a horribly disfiguring war wound..." he muttered, sticking out his tongue at the thief. "And fine, stand back Wincey I'm going down." Holding himself on the ledge while his foot searched for the hole made previously, Mat worked his way to the bottom, slightly out of breath because of the weight of the breastplate he was wearing. "Alright buddy, are you going to bloody come down or am I going to have to find you a ladder?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming..."

Rincewind clutched the edge of the floor in his hands on looked for a foothold in the wall by feel. He found it. Then he lost it again. He did find something else though, he found himself dangling in the air with one hand holding the grate. Finally he managed to get to the footholds and climbed down.

"Right. Never again. Now let's go."

He peered outside to see that no one was there and (provided he didn't see anyone) went off in the direction of the town in a quick pace.

Mat and Rincewind:

By the time you manage to descend, the sun has set and the horizon is fading from a multitude of colors to a deep red. The party from earlier have yet to make a reappearance, and the buzz from the swamp has died down considerably, so you make your way back to town.

Skirting the coast, however, you hear an odd, hollow clanking noise. The area around you is relatively clear, being mostly beach off to your right save for the wreck of an old ship, and the swamp to your left is mostly small saplings—relatively open area.

----------------

Tristan:

The woman nods (after a look that suggests there might be something wrong with your head) before peering into the injured man's eyes.

----------------

Koto and Broïndur:

You pass through the door and find yourselves in a hallway; there is another doorway directly across from where you came out, and a large chamber down the hall to the left. The smell of water is stronger here, and you can hear sloshing noises coming from the chamber. You can tell you are noticed instantly, as dark figures—one, two, three—four—emerge from the black beyond the lamplight.

And as the light spills over them, it quickly becomes clear you're in trouble. Each of the four is well-armed and -equipped, with movements that suggest a competency equal to and possibly greater than your own. Outnumbered as you are, even with Koto launching a surprise attack you won't stand a chance if it comes to blows.

((Fight would be a 4 – unwinnable in the present circumstances.))

What seems to be the leader of the bunch speaks. "Well well well, what have we here?"

The speaker's voice manages to convey without words that he knows you're outclassed. He is dressed mostly in dark leathers and what metal you see on him has been purposely made dull; he has a thin black mustache and a black goatee, and is shaved bald as far as you can tell.

"Well....Okay then. I will let you return to that then." Tristan leaves, dropping a coin into the donation box.

"That, obviously, would not have made for a very good sanctuary. Now, what to do? Well, I was tasked to get a potion. Maybe if I was to get something to make the potion. What would that be, however? I should probably go see the alchemist, since I do not have the vaguest idea of what it is I am looking for."

Tristan heads back to the alchemist, hoping not to have an encounter as he had before.

"Well well well, what have we here?" one of the Humans said.
A warrior of Broïndurs experience knew he was outclassed within a heartbeat. They were with plenty more, better equiped and a cutthroat look about them.
But then Broïndur was a Thirdling and Thirdlings knew of more than just brawn and brute force. Thirdlings could be barterers, decievers and tricksters as wel. Thirdling got what they wanted, dishonestly and cowardly if it was needed.
So Broïndur put his weapons away and smiled as coyly as his Orcen face could manage.
"So sorry for the armsdisplay. I expected te run inte more Spiders here. Just an Orc, lookin' tae barter fer the riches o' this temple." Broïndur drawled.

"Well snow, we can't beat these guys on our own!" Koto thought while watching the group of thugs that had appeared. Standing crouched down in the darkest corner he could find, Koto hoped that Broïndur could find a way out of this. "Luckily they have not seen me yet. Perhaps, if Broïndur gets to go away without harm, I could sneak further in alone and find the artifact."

The alchemist is alone this time, busy crushing something yellow into powder with mortar and pestle. She looks up as you enter and after a momentary double-take smiles. "Hi! How are you?"

----------------

Koto and Broïndur:

"I'll bet you are," bald-and-bearded drawls. "Because of course the nonexistent riches are why everyone is on this Ancients-forsaken island." He drops the sarcasm. "Try again; amuse us enough and maybe we won't kill you."

Rincewind looked around trying to determine the source of the clanking. His eyes fell on the shipwreck. In the dim light of the sunset the wreckage looked sinister and brought to mind visions of ghosts and other dark things. Rincewind gulped loudly.

"Th... The others must be waiting for us. We should probably hurry along."

"Non-existent? Och, nae. There be plenty o' riches here, if one knows where te look. And te whom te sell." Broïndur replied, skillfully ignoring the threat the cutthroat gave. These men were here for riches, but it became increasingly clear that they've turned up empty so far. They were sitting on the temple to keep others from completing the scavenger hunt, untill they could do so themselves. The best course now was either to get out of here unscathed and come back with more force of arms, or to butter them up a bit and stab them in the back when the oppertunity arose.
"Why, I've found this just lying around," Broïndur said, displaying a small handfull of coins, the pearls and the inlaid rings(or what was left of it in case of the Silver/Amethyst one), before secreting it away again.
"And, I'd be willin' te offer a hand, fer a small margin."

"Oh, I am much better, now that I am free." Tristan, with the word. 'free' thought about his current situation with him being in this body, and sighed. "Well, free enough." He looks around, seeing no one else here. "Well, this is certainly a lot more peaceful than my last visit. Anyway, I am here because I have no idea what is needed to make one of those cure wounds potions. Actually, I do not know what is needed to make any sort of potion, outside of one of those bottles you gave me, as I have never made a potion before. Would you mind telling me what I am looking for, and, perhaps, showing me how to make one of the potions?"

Koto and Broïndur:

"You're stalling." The hallway is filled with the sounds of weapons being drawn.

((You have time to flee if you want to take it.))

----------------

Tristan:

"Gladly." She sets aside her mortar and pestle and begins an impromptu lesson:

"For the most basic potions, you crush the regent down as fine as you can and mix it with water. The most common alchemical regents will have a bright color when mixed, usually red, blue, or yellow—and magical effects when consumed. There are also catalysts, which are gray; those are used to strengthen other potions but are useless otherwise.

Some of the most common regents can be found in the wilderness hereabouts. There are others, of course, but the more powerful varieties tend to be rare and expensive."

The alchemist spends some time showing you the most basic alchemical ingredients: Phirma Roots, Poppy Pods, and an odd gray mushroom she explains is a catalyst. She doesn't have any Widowsweep berries on hand—these she explains are the most common ingredient used in potions of Cure Wounds—but she does describe them for you: a small bunch of round red berries, usually found growing low to the ground.

"So I am. Ye be wantin' te be entertained? Very well."
With one hand in the air, to show that he had no foul intentions, Broïdur reached for the lantern, which was the only source of illumination in the room. If it went out, the room would go pitchblack as the cutthroats were not carrying any lanterns and torches themselves.
"Now this here lantern be special. An' I ken do a trick with it, o' which I'm sure you'll be findin' it entertainin'." By now, Broïndur had brought up the lantern to his face and the small flame now illuminated his Orcen face.
"Ye best be watchin'carefully, ye might be missin' it."
With the last 'it', Broïndur spat out the flame, darkening the room.
Broïndur quickly backed out, hearing the men stumble in the darkness.
Not feeling all to bad for leaving Koto behind, as the gnome-creature could handle himself better in the darkness than he could.
Broïndur backed all the way out, doing his best to make as little sound as possible, to the floor above ground and positioned himself so that he would stand behind the door so that which ever door one could come out of, Broïndur was out of sight. He would wait a moment for Koto, but if he didn't come out soon enough, he could make his own way back to town.

"... yeah..." Mat muttered, looking off at the ship wreck. The adventurous side of him wanted to go out there and look around, but the competitive side wanted to get back with their winnings and meet up with the others. Rincewind's suggestion tipped the scale and he began walking off, but in the back of his head Mathirim noted where the ship was, just in case he got the chance to come back.

Mat and Rincewind:

You  make it out of the island wilderness safely. It's full dark when you get back, and only the island's inn really seems to be alive this time of day—though occasionally you see groups or individuals going about their business in the dark, with or without light sources. The armed-and-armored nature of the one band you get a good look at reveals them to be adventurers like yourselves.

----------------

Tristan:

The alchemist nods, and pushes the mortar and pestle over to you. "Start with this; I have it mostly ground already and it shouldn't take you long."

She walks you through the steps of potion-making: grinding the regent up, swirling the resulting powder together with water (and stirring it with a thin rod, afterwards, when some of it gets clumped together at the bottom), corking it when finished. By the time you finish your lesson, it's dark outside and most of the shops in town have closed up for the night. The alchemist lets you keep the potion you made and bids you goodbye as she closes up shop for the day.

----------------

Broïndur:

You hear some muffled swearing and the sloshing of soggy boots on the floor as you make your escape. A moment or two later you hear shouting:

"Not that way, you fool!"

"But we can cut him off upstairs and—gah!"

A horde of squeaks renders most of the rest unintelligible, more so as you put some distance between you and the aggressive adventurers. From the noise however, it seems to have been rats.

After a short wait for Koto, you make your way back to town. The crate-smashing took a while—it's now almost dark.
