“Good day, Yu.  You look handsome… today.”

The crest that would have been Yuan-Ta's eyebrow raised slightly at Sophita's comment. He silently wondered if she knew that she sounded almost exactly like his mother every time the woman had tried to set him up with a potential mate. It was a bit... disconcerting. But for the sake of being polite he told her, "Thank you, you are rather... lovely this morning." Hopefully that was an appropriate comment.

“What’s that about?”

He shut the book with a definitive slam, a small grimace pulling the edge of his mouth down to show the tips of some teeth. "Well, I thought it would be an enlightening view of how nords see the other races." He successfully fought down the urge to spit... barely. "Remind me again how they have enough brains to run a country, and tolerance to not kill everything they see?" After having met a few nords in person, he knew that most of them didn't have the, obviously, incredibly biased view of the author... but the fact that the book had been written by an influential person of his time, and rather recently for all of that, still left the Argonian feeling bitter. "My people eat neither babies nor do we drink the blood of animals to survive..." He muttered with a slight hiss.

"I've arranged horses for us. Good Whiterun steeds all. Shall we be off then?"

Yu shook his head, telling Drystan, "I'm not ready yet, Noxa and I still need to finish the adjustments and minor repairs that my new armor requires. I also do not trust Squirrel here not to get into some kind of trouble if I'm not watching, and I recall that she had plans to go with us to market. Maybe if you left us a map with the location marked we could follow you later, when everything is done?"

"Thank you, you are rather... lovely this morning."

The young mage already knew she was lovely but the lizard’s compliment somehow lifted her mood.  She thought it might be natural to feel that way, especially for a young Nord girl like her.  She smiled and nodded in response to Yuan-Ta’s greetings then listened carefully to the Argonian as he elucidate about his book.  She was about ask more when Drystan came in.

"We've been lounging about too long. Time to get some mud on our boots."

“Drystan,” she said in surprise as she stood and stiffened at his arrival.  The farm girl looked back and forth as their employer and Yuan-Ta exchanged words.

"Fine. Meet us at the Whiterun stables. Two hours. Do not be late."

Sensing that Drystan was angry, she decided to hasten things up, “Well, I think we should go now and check on Noxa.  I don’t think Drystan likes to wait.”  She sighed and congratulated herself for speaking calmly despite her fear and shaking hands.  Sometimes, Drystan’s authority caused her to shrink and hide so she chose to say nothing more.

Noxa was a little taken aback by Drystan's insistence of an abrupt departure--she was sure he'd said noon the day before, and she had shopping to do.

"I'm right here," she said to Sophia. "And I'm sure you're right, so let's get our errands done quickly." Noxa stood and scooted out of the manor, waiting outside long enough for the rest of the group to catch up.

((Here's my shopping list, and I'll drop things as needed (more important items are higher up):

-Whatever straps, ingots, etc. Noxa would need to get Yu's armor fitted, repaired and so on. (PRIORITY)
-Traveling anvil (PRIORITY)
-Whatever Noxa estimates she would need in the way of leather, metal, etc. to keep the group's equipment in good repair for the next leg of the trip (PRIORITY)
-An ingot of silver (or enough to make a ring if an ingot isn't enough in this game)
-Books on Giant (or Giants, the species; it isn't going to occur to Noxa to specify unless prompted ) and enchanted weaponry--specifically anything that might apply to Haraldyr
-IF she found any non-Talos holy symbols after the bandit attack (remember she handed any Talos symbols off to Thorald already) and IF we have time or happen to pass the Temple of Kynareth by, she'll drop those off there. (Unless she found a symbol of Akatosh, in which case she'll keep it, seeing as that's her patron. ) Obviously skip this if she didn't find any in the first place.
-I vaguely recall Drystan talking about getting a wagon; IF he did so, and IF Noxa gets a good look at it with time to spare, she'll look for a pair of hinges and a couple good boards. This is LOW, LOW priority:  if necessary I can have her dig through rubbish piles or pry the hinges off some bandit chest later, and it's pointless without a wagon or cart of some kind to attach them to in the first place.
-Once everything else is done, any time we have left Noxa will want to spend gawking at the Skyforge.

Noxa has 217 Septims (starting gold + Drystan's starting bonus) and fairly good bargaining skills, being a merchant by trade. That said, let me know what is beyond her pocketbook at this time.

Noxa will be insistent about the first three things on the list--she needs those to do her job after all--but the rest she's willing to put off if someone else has something that would need to take precedence, or time constraints prevent her from doing them.))

Septimus rose, clutching his blade (nothing wrong with being a touch paranoid).

However, as he did so, he noticed an alarmingly large blood-stain on his beautiful garment.

*Septimus frowned*

He then approached the housekeeper.

"You wouldn't happen to have a spare shirt and trouser lying about, I'd rather not walk around Whiterun with blood stained clothes"

------

*Whatever the asnwer*

@Drystan "I'm going to go look for some ointment to get the blood out of my silk garment, I be seeing you at the stables in two hours, where I wish to discuss the terms of this contract. Thoroughly." said Septimus, quite warming up to the group (and not wishing to abandon them prematurely)

(Noxa can afford everything, and yes, there is a small wagon. There will be barely enough time for her to visit the Skyforge)

Thorald, Morn, Bhob (I'm taking control over him until his owner returns), and Drystan grabbed their gear and made their way out to the stables. Gray-Mane servants loaded most of the supplies and gear into the wagon. Personal items and the like went to each person's horse.

“Noxa, wait!” Sophia called.

The farm girl was really wondering why she hadn’t noticed the Imperial when she entered the room.  She turned her gaze at Yu as the blacksmith vanished from her sight.  “What are you waiting for? Come on, let’s go,” she said to the Argonian.  She grabbed his scaly arm, pulled him with her and followed Noxa out of the manor.

He sighed and rolled his eyes at Sophia's excitement, but chuckled none the less and ruefully smiled as he went along, pretending to have slightly leaden feet as he dragged his cloak, blade and bag with him. After a while, he decided to stop messing around and told Sophita, "You know, we could catch up to Noxa much faster if you hopped up on my back or I carried you." He didn't want to lose the imperial, after all. "Come on."

((I’m confused.  I thought Noxa was waiting for us right outside the manor? Or what? ))

“A piggy-back ride you mean?” Sophia asked with a chuckle.  Her eyes gleaming in gladness and her lips curved in a smile.  She was amazed at what her Argonian fellow just said.  She never thought that his kind also practice things like that.  The farm girl nodded and hopped on his back as they traversed the street.  She wrapped her arms around the lizard’s neck just to make sure she’ll have a good grip.

“You know, when I was little,” she said drawing her lips near Yu’s ear, “I rode animals on the farm all the time.”  Sophia’s face turned red after realizing what she just said.  “Oh, I didn’t mean it that way,” she retracted her head a bit from Yu, “I didn’t mean you are an animal...”

The farm girl felt she had made things worse.  She felt really embarrassed and would want fix things.  “I just meant, I liked to ride animals,” she explained hoping that Argonian wouldn’t get her wrong.  “I used to ride my father’s back too.”

Sophia gulped in dismay, panicking, for she was out of words.  She did not want to hurt Yuan-Ta’s feelings but at this point of time she felt really hopeless.  But still she kept on trying, “I really, really didn’t mean it that way.  You are smart and read a lot and I’m away from home.”  The farm girl sighed and suddenly she felt relaxed about what she just said.  “You are my only friend here,” she followed, absently tightening her grip on Yu’s neck.  “Maybe, if you have time you can tell me all about Argonians sometime.”

“A piggy-back ride you mean?”

"So that's what you people call it?" Yu asked her, chucking at the odd name. Where he had grown up, this was a method used by his people to carry the young or sick above the waters, to ensure that nothing tried to eat them. He could only assume that this was some sort of game or display of affection for people up here, or a way to carry someone who was slowing them down.

“Maybe, if you have time you can tell me all about Argonians sometime.”

"Maybe I will." He told her, barely containing his laughter from her random babbling. Maybe not every nord was fully bad. He turned his head so that he could see Sophia out of the corner of his eye, "And I get it you silly little squirrel, I'm not an animal. You know, the more you babble the more it seems like you mean the opposite of what you are saying? Just a tip, not every man is as understanding as I. Now enough of this following business, aye?" He winked once before he began running, tail moving to keep him balanced and leaning ever so slightly forward while also holding her legs securely to his body. She wouldn't be able to fall if she tried.

Needless to say, they caught up with Noxa pretty quickly. "Where to first?" The Argonian asked her cheerfully.

Noxa felt a touch of pity for the poor Nord girl verbally digging herself deeper and deeper, and was quite happy to change the subject and spare Sophia more embarrassment.

"I need a few things for your armor, so let's do that first. I'll have to find a new anvil and some supplies if I'm to be any use for the next part of our journey, but I can pick up most of that at the same time."

Sophia hopped off from Yu's back.  She patted his shoulder and thanked him for the ride.  She walked a few steps and looked around the marketplace, curious yet admiring.  The farm girl would like to take a final look at the beautiful town before they leave.  She also hoped to find Ysolda and say goodbye for the last time.  Apparently, Ysolda was nowhere to be found.

The young mage scratched her neck, putting away the idea since she knew it will just make her sad.  Instead, she focused on their objective.  She didn't want to make Drystan wait for them that much.

"Lead the way, Noxa."

Noxa nodded, and did her best to locate sellers of the supplies she needed – ingots, leather, anything she thought she might need for her part in the journey ahead. Jewelry may have been her specialty, but she still knew what to do with an iron ingot and had a good idea what one should sell for...she also kept an eye out for silver, as she had a side project she needed it for.

The farm girl enjoyed shopping, seeing new things that she had never seen before.  Despite of her happiness, she was also feeling sad because she wasn’t able to buy anything that she likes including that nice gold ring that she thought would fit perfectly on her.  She blamed herself for acting stupid last night.  She thought if she had not meddled with the guards, she might still have her hard earn coins from the farm and it made her edgy.

“Are we done now?” Sophia asked Noxa with an impatient tone.  Obscurely, she was very eager to go the stables and meet Drystan.  She was not able to explain the feeling if this was because she does not want to anger her employer or because she just wanted to see him already.

"MAKE WAY FOR SOLDIERS OF THE IMPERIAL LEGION!" a herald cried out from the gate closest to the markets.

The peopled cleared the cobblestone path behind the Whiterun guards as a cadre of heavily armored legionnaires marched through the streets. They walked as one large shining metallic body. Each step was in perfect time. In front of the soldiers, on horseback, was a man clad in shimmering layers of steel. His face was completely concealed by the helmet he wore, which bore the likeness of a man's face, but in cold metal. Draped around his shoulders and down his back was the pelt of a sabre cat, its claws pinned to the man's pauldrons. The masked man wielded a lance white as alabaster and a shield bearing the Imperial Dragon.

((This has little to nothing to do with the Imperial Legion...nevertheless, it comes to mind...))

Noxa had just finished a purchase of leather and was contemplating what mix of iron, steel and corundum she should buy when the Imperial Legion made its appearance. She watched in impressed awe for a moment before a disquieting thought surfaced—because surely the Legion didn't show up in force for simple shopping...

"Who is that, do you think?" she asked her companions (and largely ignoring Sophia's impatience).

Yu stood to the side, regarding the procession with steel in his eyes and a slight frown. "Whoever it is... this is not a good place for us to be." The legion shouldn't be moving in any kind of force unless they were planning something... and that something would be soon implemented. If they were moving this openly, then Whiterun would have some kind of troubles soon. That argonian wanted nothing to do with them.

The man dismounted from his white Anvil stallion as a squire took the horse off the road. The Imperials marched through the streets towards Dragonsreach, the seat of the Whiterun Jarl.

"Who is that man up ahead?" a nearby civilian asked a guard.

"Probably a Legate from the south no doubt." replied the guard as another one, an officer, came by.

"No, boy. This one's no Legate." the officer said. "I was once in the Legion and usually you can tell what rank somebody is by their armor, and if not, by their medals. This one has no armor I've ever seen before, and has no medals indicating a rank. The only one's I've seen like this have been the Penitus Oculatus, the Imperial Battlemages, and the Blades, who have been disbanded. There may be other groups with people like him, but none that I've heard of."

Drystan appeared behind Noxa, Yu, and Sophia. "We must leave. Now. It is no longer safe here. Get to the stables quickly, but discreetly."

The young mage found the armor-clad knight very, very attractive.  Her brown eyes were glinting as she watched the man on the horse pass by.  Her jaw dropped in astonishment – the Knight in shining armor!  Sophia felt a sudden thrill at seeing the face behind the alluring helm.  She thought that the guy behind it must be handsome.   She was starting to day dream about things when Drystan came.

“What?” she said in a shocked complaining tone, “But I still want to–“

Again, she felt this unexplained aura that Drystan had –an aura of command that forced her to follow every single word.  And since she trusted Drystan, Sophia felt the danger from his remarks.  She shut her mouth, nodded politely and followed him to the stables.
