"Our armory has a set of scale mail that may fit you. It's a bit old and needs some repair and adjustments, but Eorlund made it a decade or so ago so it should still be of great use. Accept it as a gift!"

A suit of armor forged by the Eorlund Gray-Mane? Even though he was no smith, Yu had heard about the man in his travels and knew that the smith was the best in all of Skyrim. He felt a little guilty accepting such a grand gift, especially since he had already requested that Noxa make one for him, but the Argonian saw no way he could politely refuse, so he nodded courteously and instead said, "Thank you, your hospitality is most kind, and I accept your gift on the condition that if you have need of me, you will allow me to repay you."

“In that case, I can adjust it without difficulty. Let me look it over after dinner and I’ll see what repairs need to be done, then we can buy the supplies tomorrow morning before we leave.”

Yu nodded to Noxa, "Yes, it will be my pleasure."

Yu, despite all of his grumbling and constant moaning for meat, took only conservative amounts of food, sampling some of everything so that he did not impose any more than he already was. Though he wouldn't admit it to anyone but himself, his favorite part of the meal was a heavy stew made with venison, leaks, carrots and potatoes, and spiced with some nutmeg, salt and pepper. He noticed that Drystan left them with hardly a word, but decided that the human would be doing whatever he wanted anyway, as long as it didn't get them arrested or an army called down on their heads, Yu didn't care what his employer did.

The servant returned with the armor. As Avulstein said, it was old and dusty, but its fine craftsmanship was clearly evident. There was a bit of rust here and there, perhaps a torn strap or a loose bolt, but the armor itself held together very well.

Yuan-Ta set down his spoon as the servant returned, looking over the armor. While he didn't have much of a smith's eye, the Argonian noted a few things off the bat. "It seems to be made to fit a man a little wider than me, a Nord warrior most likely, and it will also need a spot for my tail. Most of the links and straps are alright, wouldn't you say Noxa? And the bad ones we can just remove to fit it too me... I don't think we'll have much to buy tomorrow."

“Then it must be a dangerous place.”

No more dangerous than all of us, I would think. The argonian thought, taking another bite of the venison stew. Out loud he said, "Stay close to us. We'll keep the bandits away."

Sophia took note of what Yu said.  After traveling with him for days, she had seen the Lizard’s prowess in battle and that enough made her feel safe with him at her side.

After emptying a bowl of soup, she began to feel very, very tired, much more tired than before.  Her eyelids were dropping; she was beginning to fall asleep.  It was then when the farm girl decided she needs to rest.  She took a last glance on the table, admiring the savory feast she had.  It was the best for the young mage.  Sophia would want to ask the cook on how the dishes were prepared but she thought it would be best if she do it tomorrow.

“I’m done,” she announced, but it was faint that only those near her were able to hear.  She slowly lifted herself up from the chair and bid Dar’Shenn and Morn good night.  When she walked near Yu, she placed her hand on his shoulder to get his attention.  She thought the Argonian was busy or rather delighted with his new armor.  “I’m going to rest now,” she said smiling.  She also motioned Noxa about her leave.  Lastly, before she headed to the guest room, she thanked the hosts for their hospitality and then excused herself explaining the reason.

Before jumping into cradle, Sophia made sure that she had prepared herself, clean and neat for the bed.

Noxa went over the gifted armor with a much more thorough eye. She wasn't disappointed; though suffering from disuse, it was as expertly made as she could imagine.

"The straps all need to be oiled, but I have that with me. I'll need to bring in the shoulders for it to fit properly..." Noxa inventoried a few other minor repairs and adjustments before agreeing that, indeed, there wasn't much that needed to be done. ((I'll leave an exact listing up to berny.)) She just prayed to Akatosh that it wouldn't need major repairs any time soon: she'd never seen steel so fine and fretted over needing to make metal that could measure up.

Once he had his fill of wine and food, he leaned back and let out a satisfied groan.

Yu nodded along with Noxa's inventory, perfectly willing to let the smith go through what needed to be repaired. After her list was done and they estimated the prices, Yu excused himself from the table and went back to where he had left his coat and book. Using the coat as a cushion, Yu began to read again, perfectly content to be on his own by the fire.

Noxa also got ready for bed, keeping her repurposed satchel in a safe place as was normal and setting everything else where it would be ready for the day ahead. Haraldyr she kept buried at the very bottom of her bag, hopefully where it wouldn't cause trouble.

((If the dagger wants to argue his case, now is probably a good time. I can split my attention to two time zones if you want to advance the group to morning.))

Sophia jumped on the bed.  Its supple fabric pressed against her soft skin.  The farm girl felt a very relaxing sensation, something her plain wooden bed back at home would not offer.  She spread her arms and legs and moved them like wings of a flying bird as she tried to enjoy this chance of pleasure.  After satisfying herself, she rolled to her side and grabbed the pillow on top of her.  She felt too it was fluffy, so she pulled it near her and enjoyed the warmness that it generates.

Tomorrow will be another day for adventure, the young mage said to herself.  They are going to a place she had never been to and as some of her fellows said, the way to Markarth is dangerous.  The notion left her mind shortly after remembered what her Lizard fellow told her.  Yuan-Ta has always been there for her, keeping her safe.  She pulled pillow closer to her as the thought lingered.  And there’s Drystan too, she assured herself embracing the pillow tighter than before. But the young mage’s thinking did not stop there.  Ofcourse, she had hoped to end her futility.  Sophia would very much like to display her skills fearing that Drystan might dismiss her from the group if she continued to prove being useless, but moreover, to help them, and pay back their kindness to her.

She sighed as she rolled to the opposite side, raising her left arm slowly opening and closing her palm.  The mage wondered when she would be able to cast her Flames to a deserving enemy when she remembered the book that her master gave her.  "The book!" she cried.

The farm girl immediately jumped out of the bed and began searching her bag for the book – The Tome of Sparks.  She was worried that something bad might have happened to it.  The young mage wasn’t able to check on her belongings for the past days.  She was relieved when she found it intact, even though it was damp because she fell off in a river with it.  She embraced it tight as a tear dropped from her eye.  “Master,” she whispered, “I promise, I will not fail you.”

She went back on the bed and started reading it, a new spell might be a good addition considering the fact that they would be going in a more perilous place, she thought.  Sophia took the utmost care in flipping the wet pages; anxious that she might tore it.  She then began reading the first sentence but unknown to the young mage, her weariness was already consuming her.  A few moments passed and her eyelids dropped, her body followed, thoughtlessly falling asleep.

After all the group had eaten and drank their fill, sleepiness set in from the day's exhaustion. One by one, people filed out of the dining hall to their rooms to bed until only the servants remained to clean up after them.

As Noxa's bag was put down, Haraldyr exclaimed, "Hey now at least take me out so I can see something during the night. Besides, I could even wake you up when it's light out! Just don't leave me in that damn bag!"

Yu didn't end up sleeping in that chair, and had in fact switched over to a different book that concerned the Deadra when Noxa left the table. After some quick studies, the Argonian found what he was looking for and closed the book up, hopping up and after the smith. Uppon hearing the blade's protests, Yu told her, "You know, it actually can't do anything in there. If he hasn't gotten out by now," Yu tapped the book cover, signalling where he had learned the information he was about to relay, "then he is properly sealed within~ Deadra princes or just Deadra in general are too impatient to stay in one place for much more than, what, a day unless they are forced to or they have something to entertain themselves? He's fine. And some kind of wake up system might be nice," Yu said with a shrug, walking to the room across the hall from her, "though you might want to put the little pervert back in the bag when you change. Goodnight, Noxa."

Opening the door to the room, Yu took an open bed, using his fur coat as a blanket and the book and his arm as a pillow. He went to sleep, still thinking of the few things he had learned about the Deadra.

Noxa nodded, relaxing a little bit and eventually giving into the dagger's pleas and lying it on top of her bag instead of in it. She even relaxed enough to give in to a surge of curiosity as she handled the thing, and finally asked it, "How do you see with no eyes?"

"Oh, I have eyes, even if my jail doesn't." replied Haraldyr. "This vessel is a structure built to hold me. Yet there are windows in it's walls that I can see through, but you cannot see through to me. When you look at the blade, all you see is your world. The dagger reflects your world back at you, but I can still see the image that is imprinted on the blade. Therefore seeing the outside world is not a problem."

Dar'Shenn finished writing the last lines of his letter. He then took a candle, and sealed the letter with the wax. Dar'Shenn putted it in the inner pocket of his jacket. Noxa awoke bright and early the next morning. She prepared for the day before leaving her room; at Haraldyr's pleading (and against her better judgment) she put the dagger on her belt.

While emerging from her temporary quarters, Noxa wondered what she ought to do before the party left town at noon. She needed supplies, of course. She wanted to see the famed Skyforge at least once before they left Whiterun—who knew when she'd get another chance? And she wanted to look through the local general store if there was one; she wasn't a very good reader but there were a few subjects she ought to read up on...

Yuan-Ta woke up early the next morning, slightly stiff as he walked to the living room and sat back down in his chair, reading more about the Deadra and other races of Skyrim in that book of his. He wanted to figure out what the nords thought of all the peoples here, particularly the Argonians, so this was a good way to find out. What he discovered did not please him. Hopefully the market would be able to take the sour taste out of his mouth, or someone would do something foolish and entertaining (instead of just foolish like yesterday). Whichever one came first.

Sophia fixed her lips.  They always look perfect.  She used this unusual looking colored stick adorned with shining objects.  She remembered it was a gift from a friend named Dana back there at the farm.  Dana told her, if she wears this thing, her beau will be attracted to her more and will propose marriage to her.

The young mage sighed at the thought.  It didn’t work for her.  Instead, she remembered Dana’s double-crossing scheme.  That lady whom she thought was a friend fooled her.  Dana tried to take her lover away from her.  It was a very throbbing experience for the young Nord, seeing her one only love with another woman.

Her heart felt like a very sharp object pierced it instantly.  It was painful and saddening, even made her breath stop.  But the young mage fought her sentiments for the day was a great day for adventure.   They were to venture to another place, Markath – a new place to discover, a new place to fill her curious mind.

She wiped the growing tears in the corner of her eye, looked at the mirror and calmed herself.  Everything will be alright, she said.
After fixing her things, she went out of her room with a fake smile on her lips, looking for her group mates.  Sophia noticed Yuan-Ta sitting on a chair, reading a book.  She approached him and said, “Good day, Yu.  You look handsome… today.”

The farm girl stopped for a while, bit her lips, pondered.  She did not really know what a handsome Argonian looked but she just wanted to have a great day so she stopped worrying about it.  She sat beside the lizard and peeked on the book he was reading.

“What’s that about?”

Drystan walked into the common room where the group was.
"We've been lounging about too long. Time to get some mud on our boots."

Morn complained between mouthfuls of roast pig. "I haven't even finished my breakfast yet!"

"Morn, you've been hacking away at the swine for the past hour." replied Drystan as walked towards the Nord. He then took away the bottle of mead that Morn was about to drink and said, "It's not even noon and you're already drinking. Get up and let's go."

Morn wiped his mouth off with a napkin as he grumbled, then grabbed his gear, which was lying on the floor next to him.

Thorald came into the room then, all ready to go, and said, "I've arranged horses for us. Good Whiterun steeds all. Shall we be off then?"
