Septimus appeared oblivious and carried on toward whiterun without even a pause to consider. A bandit came charging and screaming at him, and still he did not seem to care. The bandit swung his great battle axe with a mighty effort at the elf, Septimus halted immediately, letting the bandit miss his mark, he then stepped on the axe and punched the bandit with a brutal, but precise force so that he toppled and fell to the ground. Septimus then carried on, but the bandit, having a grudge against the monk unsheathed a dagger with an intent on stabbing the elf in the back and rushing blindly at him. Septimus thrust his blade backward, impaling the poor fool, then swiped the blood off the pristine blade and sheathed it. Then carried on as before.

The incapable young mage gasped upon the presence of an unknown person in front of her.  She thought she would be safe from the attack by hiding behind the rock.  She got stupefied as the stranger touched her lips.  The farm girl had assumed that a bandit just caught her and it would be her end! But upon hearing his settling words, her body came to an ease.  She calmed herself and leaned on the rock behind her.

Friend or foe, Sophia did not care about the point, the guy seemed nice.  She took his offer of dried meat and slowly munched over it as she was not yet having her breakfast, not caring anymore if it had poison or some kind of magic in it that would affect her.

She knew it was so gay to run away and hide behind a filthy rock while her comrades fight for their lives, but having a farmer instinct, which was basically just about surviving, she gave up all the worries and selfishly gave concern about herself.  She valued her life so much.  Dying was not an option for the farm girl at that time; she favored more of her contemptible dream of getting married and having a family in the future.

Claude munched on his stick of dried meat, his frown growing bigger every time he tried to chew it. He fixed his leather helmet and looked over at the girl, a weak smile appearing on his face.
"A bit old I guess, need to stock up on food once I reach Whiterun. It's not so easy being a lone wanderer these days, having to stay alive with all these bandits and highwaymen and bears and monsters roaming about. I guess it must be even harder when one is just a young girl like yourself!
He stopped suddenly. "Oh listen to me, rambling on. You're probably having your own worries to think of. Excuse me, I will just take a look to see how the fight is turning out."

Claude stuck his head out from behind the stone just to have an arrow fly by inches from his left ear. "Still fighting, looks like your friends are winning though. We'll just stay here for now, then in maybe a minute or .. oh dear!"

A bandit stumbled bewildered and landed just a couple of feet away, looking at Claude and Claude returning the look for a few seconds before both erupted with shouts as the bandit sought to get up while Claude sought to gain an advantage by killing a man already downed. Claude drew his short sword and struck once, missing far out but his elbow nicking the bandits nose, blood flying everywhere and the man striking the ground once again. This time the killing blow landed easily, the sword buried in the bandits chest and Claude pulled with all his force to free it. He fell back toward the rock and started chewing on his meatstick again, looking now and then on the man lying on the ground. "I'm not really good at killing." he told the girl, his face pale as he waited for the fighting to stop.

((Polyglot, you can defeat the orc, but leave him for Drystan to question him.))

Several bandits ran with their weapons drawn at Drystan, who responded with a flurry of magical strikes, killing his assailants. He then cast a spell, rendering him nearly invisible to the naked eye. A few moments later the archers in the bushes lay dead and Drystan came back out in clear view.

Thorald and the Stormcloaks finished off the last of the bandits with the exception of the Orc, who was locked in a duel with Bhob.

"Leave them!" said Thorald as he stopped a rash Stormcloak from intervening in the fight. "Do not stray within their range. This is a fight for only the two of them."

Only the two of them? Claude thought in wonder and frowned. Great, it's finally safe!

He jumped out from behind the rock, his hands slightly up and showing his palms to indicate he was unarmed, and approached Thorald with a huge smile. "Good day my good sir, it's a pleasure to meet you! And may I say, great killing! The name is Claude, Claude Aleron."

He held out his hand as he introduced himself, hoping it wouldn't get chopped off.

Yuan-Ta sheathed his blade as the fighting died down, and he began to wonder where Sophia had gotten off to. The young Nord had been right behind him when this whole thing started... if one of the bandits had dragged the girl off into some bushes, then the man would be surprised when the "defenseless" girl shot him full of fire. Still, it would be good to know where she was...

"Good day my good sir, it's a pleasure to meet you! And may I say, great killing! The name is Claude, Claude Aleron."

Not seeing where the voice had come from or who it belonged to, only knowing that it was somewhere behind him. Yu acted on instinct. He turned on his foot like a viper, sticking a leg out to sweep the speaker off of his feet as a scaled hand turned to grab this "Claude" by the chest to pin him.

Claude screamed, loud and shrill, as the hand pinned him to the ground. He tried in vain to break free, but it didn't take long before he gave up. Even with one hand only, this man-thing was stronger than him. "Let me go, I have done you nothing!"

Thorald would have killed Claude on instinct if Yu hadn't swept kicked the man. Instead he held his hand up to prevent his men from jumping on the newcomer.

Morn looked around until he found Sophia behind the rock. "What're you doing here? You could've been killed! Next time stay behind me. I'll be sure to take good care of you."

Drystan meanwhile burst into flames until his conjured wooden armor turned to ashes. He, however, was completely unharmed. He cricked his neck and walked towards Claude as Bhob fought the other Orc.

"I already introduced myself, and you should be able to recognize a breton when you see him!" Claude answered, clearly annoyed and slightly worried. "I am a simple traveler and explorer, born in High Rock but raised in these cold mountains by traders. I am sure my life story would bore you, so why not leave it at that."

"Well no I didn't happen to show up, I've been hiding behind that rock back there for a few hours waiting for someone to clear the path for me. I needed a rest and didn't bother walking all the way around those bandits." Claude looked toward the young girl. "Ask her, she came running and I accompanied her, even offered her some food and possibly saved her life too."

Yu looked up a Sophia, seeing that she was there. He started to become less certain that this guy was dangerous. "Well... I guess that was nice of you... but how do I know that you two aren't..." The argonian sniffed the air, and his face froze. "Is that... meat?" He asked in a daze.

Claude got up to his feet in one fluid motion and brushed himself off, casting a quick glance at Yu before reaching into his satchel. From within he pulled two pieces of dried meat and handed them over to the lizard. "Now where were we? Oh yes, I am Claude and pleased to meet you all! What you lack in manners you obviously make up for in brute strength, I hope I can accompany you at least all the way to Whiterun and we will see where our roads lead from there."

Sophia choked on the last piece of meat upon hearing Morn and Yu’s voice.  She cringed as she tried to clear her throat, fearing that they might nag on her for what she had done.  She stayed low, not looking at any of them for a moment, thinking what she could do to appease her comrades.

Running out of alibis, the young mage stood humbly and said “I’m sorry, I just panicked.  It was the first time I’ve been involved in such.” It was true for the girl, being in a farm for so long won’t give her such an adventure.

Determined as she was, Sophia readied herself for any punishment, scolding or humiliation she might receive from the leader of the group.

The smoke and ash cleared from Drystan as he walked towards Claude and Sophia. He then said, "Claude, you may accompany us to Whiterun, but no farther unless we find you to be of any particular use. The same goes for you, Sophia. We cannot be responsible for you unless you can be responsible for your own safety. That is all."

((By this time I'll assume that Bhob has defeated the Orc bandit. We'll wait until he posts about it.))

Sophia gasped upon hearing the elf-like creature's words.  It was very unexpected for the young mage.  She imagined that as a punishment, they will make her carry all their bags until they reach Whiterun; or sell her to a bandit group; or leave her outside to rot in hunger but it was the opposite.

“Thank you, Master - ” her unfamiliarity of his name ended her humble words but the young mage promised to herself to be more useful in the future.  She bowed at him and turned to the Breton.

The young Nord smiled at stranger and said, “Thank you, too.  By the way my name is Sophia."

((Back tracking a little, been busy IRL.))

Noxa drew her smithing hammer—it wasn't technically a weapon, but it was heavy enough to do damage and she could swing it well enough to hit with it.

Not aggressive by nature, she fought defensively, keeping her back to members of the party ((probably Morn, since he's stayed back anyway)) and holding her position rather than charging at whatever target offered. She tried to keep an eye out for the Nord girl, but shrugged when the mage went tearing off away from the fight and did her best to cover her remaining companions instead.

She was more than happy to have the battle end, and watched Yu's change in demeanor towards the strange Breton with some amusement. It was far easier to keep her mind off the blood soaking into the ground that way.
