((Great, the one day I forget to check this, just happens to be the busiest one... Thanks for waiting guys/gals))

Before long, it was just the two of them. Bandit corpses littered the ground in a wide radius, painting it red with their blood. Seeing the carnage, the few bandits who happened not to be in Bhob's way, wisely gave the pair more than enough room to fight their duel as they saw fit.

Gone were the carelessness and impatience Bhob exhibited earlier: this was a foe worthy of all his attention. Charging him just to be impaled on one of his axes was out of the question; not only would his companions be in danger, but throwing a fight, even one with such an Orc would serve only to heighten Bhob's dishonour.

Bhob bided his time, circling his opponent deceptively slowly, harassing him with a few shallow blows aimed at his joints where the plates of his armor failed to overlap completely, just to keep him on edge, frustrating him. His stocky figure coupled with his exceptional speed made it easy to dart out of the way of the heavy axes, then answer with a slice or two of his own before the other could strike again.

This gave Bhob an opportunity to size up his opponent, seeing past his brute strength and oversized weapons. It was clear that he wasn't used to battling skilled fighters, instead relying on his size to intimidate victims before he finished them off. But he was slow, burdened with all that weight; the drawback of the traditional Orc armor that had made Bhob to focus on training in outlandish gear, which while not nearly as protective, allowed free movement, a much bigger advantage. Already, beads of sweat glistened on his brows, while Bhob was just warming up. He had to find a way to neutralize his armor; He was much shorter than the brute, hitherto unable to get at his unprotected face. Fortunately, the ground was still slick with blood...

Meanwhile, the brute threw himself into the famous battle frenzy of the Orcs, His blows rained harder now, and made the ground tremble, giving Bhob the opportunity he needed. Instead of his usual routine, he simply kicked the Orc's legs out from under him, a task made easy by the slippery, trembling ground, the Orc's sloppy parody of footwork, and his apparent fatigue.

The Orc bellowed in surprise, as he fell like a crumbling mountain, his weight pulling him down. Bhob was quick to finish him off, as he tried in vain to get back to his feet. He wiped his swords on the brute's armor, disgusted with the outcome.

Not even a scratch! What have I done to deserve this?! Worthless city Orc!...

((Give it a few months Poly, and you won't be unhappy when the game takes off like that.))

After a few minutes passed, and it seemed the newcomer wasn't interested in giving them any more trouble, Noxa started taking stock of the group's armor and weapons, looking for cuts in leather or notches in blades that would need to be repaired—it was what she'd been hired on to do, after all. More serious repairs would have to wait, but she could sew up holes in leather without an anvil.

Once that was done ((if the group is just going to hang around talking)), Noxa started to drag the bodies off the road, lining them up neatly and whispering a short prayer for the souls of the deceased.

((And it's times like this I wish I played a stereotypical adventurer. We have a field full of corpses here, why isn't anyone looting the bodies???))

Yu, not being one to waste goods because of some silly, "Sentiment for the dead," began searching the bodies close to him for anything valuable. Food, weapons, books, really anything that could be sold beside their clothes. He had an empty bag, a strong back and nothing to carry but his rather large sword. It was time to fix that.

The Stormcloaks took what resources they deemed necessary to take from the bodies of the dead and the cloaks of all those of theirs that have fallen. Morn built a pyre to burn the dead in the meantime. In time, all was finished and they continued on their way, catching up with Septimus, who had disappeared during the battle, until it was nighttime.

"One more day until Whiterun." muttered Morn as he chewed a bit of dried meat by the fire. "It'll be good to get a good rest in a proper bed there."

"We won't be there for long." replied Drystan. "After one night of collecting supplies and meeting with my contact, we shall be going to the Reach. It's a long road, but unless we happen to run into Giants, all should be well."

After introducing herself to the Breton, Sophia decided she like to know more about him and the others but she felt apart from the group due to her inability in the fight.   Though she was still accepted by the leader, the young mage felt her failure deep inside.

During the travel, Sophia stayed quiet all the time and when they reached the camp, the farm girl set up her old and worn bedroll near the fire.  As she rested in her bed, she reached for her rare-looking amulet, unconsciously rubbing it while thinking of a way to make up for her folly, making her fall asleep.

Upon learning the corpses would be burned—a sensible precaution, though one she honestly hadn't expected the group to take the time to perform—Noxa searched the corpses for holy symbols to prevent them being desecrated. Any Amulets of Talos she found, she quietly left in Thorald's hands; symbols for the rest of the Divines she packed away, to be left at the next temple they came to.

Yu was, unfortunately, close enough to hear the endless line of drivel. One of his eyes began twitching as he listened to the constant chatter, and finally desperation took hold and the Argonian looked for something to distract him. Turning to Noxa, he asked, "So. Metal working. How is that going for you?

Noxa sat by the fire, using its light to see as she stitched up cuts in armor. The concentration she put into the task let her phase out most of the Breton's constant blather. "It was going well until the trolls attacked. I'll need to find an anvil in Whiterun if I'm going to be able to do any smithing on the road; if not give me anything metal that needs to be repaired and I'll try to put it back into shape while we're in town." Hopefully finding a smithy that would let her use the forge for a little side work wouldn't be too hard in that case.

”Concentration, timing and the heart.”

The old mage lectured as he pointed his finger at young Sophia’s chest.  The aspiring mage smiled from ear to ear while her eyes glistened with hope and delight.  She closed her eyes for a while and when she opened them, the night sky of Skyrim surrounded her.

She was dreaming.  And those were the words of her mentor, a lecture on how to successfully cast a spell.  Sophia got up rubbing her eyes to wake up.  She observed their camp and noticed that some were already asleep, while others were still awake.

As she was leaving camp, those who were still awake gave her a confused look, “I’m just going to pee,” she assured them and continued to walk away from the camp.

The mage surveyed the area trying to find a place where she could practice casting her one and only spell – the Flames.  All she wanted to do was prove her prowess to her comrades.  She would not allow more foolishness to happen again.

Far from the camp, the young mage spotted a rock and thought it was a perfect place to perform the spell.  She readied herself, closed her eyes and thought of her master’s words.

“Concentration, timing and the heart,” she murmured as she extended her right arm, pointing her palm on the rock.

After a second, a burst of flame came out from her right hand.  It lit the whole place with crimson lights including the mage’s eyes.  A smile of hope and desire came to her lips.  As the warmth of the fire reached her face; the young mage felt it was excellent.  Once again, she had motivation and hope.  She expected to perform like this in the next battle.

Not satisfied with her initial performance, she cast the spell again.  She repeated the spell again and again, until it was perfect.  Suddenly an unfamiliar sound reached her ears. She turned at the sound just to find out that two spiteful eyes were glaring at her, along with gritting sharp teeth growling with hunger.

It was a wolf.

Sophia was stricken by the sight of the creature but she fought her foolishness.  Quickly, she pointed her left hand on the wolf, concentrated and aimed for its head before releasing the spell.  But the wolf was more agile than her, before she could cast the Flames, the wolf was leaping towards her neck.

The poor mage was not able to do anything but defend herself.  She retracted her left hand and blocked the attack.  The wolf’s gnashing teeth found their way to Sophia’s arm and pierced it deep to into her bones.

The young Nord cried in agony, blood rushed from her impaled arm as the wolf’s force brought her down.  In vain, she tried to knock out the ferocious wolf but her worthless blows did nothing helpful. It only made the wolf fume more as it began to tear off her arm.

Sophia was beginning to lose hope when suddenly she felt the amulet hanging cold on her neck – and remembered that it was paired with a dagger.  With quick thinking, she pulled the dagger out and pierced the lone wolf’s neck.  Blood spilled all over the mage’s body but the wound was not enough for the wolf was still on the peak of its might.

Seeing this, the young girl, with all her strength pulled the dagger and repeatedly stabbed its neck unintentionally hitting the wolf’s heart.  As the dagger hit its heart, the wolf gradually lost its power and grip on Sophia’s arm until it lay lifeless on top her.   But it was the same for the her.

The young mage was seriously wounded and losing consciousness.  The amount of blood and the damage she had taken from the attack was serious.  Again, she questioned herself - Was it the right decision for her to leave her town?

She wanted to pull the dagger from the wolf’s heart but her strength had left her.  Her feeble hand lost its grip from her precious dagger and her eyes slowly closed leaving the night sky of Skyrim the last thing for her to glimpse.

((You're good))
A wolf always travels in packs. The dead wolf's pack stalked around Sophia carefully as she began to lose consciousness. Then suddenly an arrow shot through the head of a wolf as another one was impaled on a tree limb by an invisible force. The rest of the wolves were soon taken care of and Drystan came quickly to Sophia's side. He muttered a quick spell as he moved his hands in quick movements over her wound. It healed rapidly, but he still bandaged it up thoroughly before carrying her back to the camp and laying her by the fireside saying, "Sophia was attacked by a pack of wolves. I did what I could for her, but I'm not an expert healer."

Yu was about to respond but before he could he heard a wolf call out, and began to wonder where Drystan and Sophia had gone. "I hope squirrel is alright..." He muttered, not doubting even for a second that Drystan would be able to handle himself. When their employer came back holding the unnaturally pale girl in his arms, the Argonian was sorely disappointed.

((If I have the target other recovery spell ((Heal other thing...)))

Yuan-Ta hailed his companion and stood up. "Let's see if I can do anything more..." Honestly, Yu's skills weren't that good, but he had been able to learn basic healing spells well enough that he might be able to do something. After examining Sophia's arm, the Argonian realized that Drystan had basically just closed the skin and knotted together some of the flesh, which was almost as much as Yu could do. But the Argonian had all of his magic still in reserve, so I should be able to finish what the boss man started... You thought as his hand began to glow a pale white. It flashed out after about ten seconds, this phenomena marked the end of the Argonian's mana pool, and he breathed out heavily. "Ssshe ssshould be fine now... sssquirrel jusst needsss sssome resst and heat." With a yawn, Yu added, "And sssso do I..." He blinked slowly as he looked for her bed. "Ssshe can have my roll... ssshe needsss it more..."

"Sophia was attacked by a pack of wolves. I did what I could for her, but I'm not an expert healer."

Noxa went over to see what she could do to help. Unfortunately not having anything in the way of healing skills or potions at the moment, there wasn't much. At last she stood, feeling frustrated.

"Where did this happen? I can at least get the girl's dagger back for her." Having kept tabs on the party's equipment for repair purposes, Noxa had of course noticed it missing. ((And I can skin the beasties for leather, anyone want to come with to watch my back?))

Not quite sure how to take this support from the Stormcloak, Noxa nodded. Grabbing herself a makeshift torch from the fire, she went off to go look for Sophia's dagger.

The area of the fight was fairly easy to find, in fact given the scorch marks Noxa was surprised none of them had heard anything back at camp. She located the Nord mage's knife with relative ease, sticking out of the body of one wolf; Noxa pulled it out, wiped it off and stuck it in her belt to give back to the girl at camp.

Then Noxa started to drag the bodies away from camp, keeping an eye out for more trouble. (Hopefully the distance would keep anything attracted by the gore away from them.) The wolves didn't get prayers for their souls, but they did get skinned; Noxa had the vague idea of leaving the fur on their hides when she turned them into proper leather.

Dar'Shenn walked towards Dragonsreach carrying a rather large, blooded pouch. It held a head of a bandit leader that the Jarl had put a bounty on. And Dar'Shenn came here to collect it. The head was the proof of the bandit's demise and his right to enter the city. His kin wasn't welcomed much in the cities of Skyrim and most of Tamriel. mostly because of their reputation as thieves. Dar'Shenn was indeed a skilled sneak, but used his skill for grave robbing and looting dwemer ruins. He also occasionally took up mercenary work. Although when none of his other preferred activities aren't avaivable or turn to be a wild geese chase, he often breaks into home and sells the stolen values to the Thieves' Guild.
The guards of the city looked at him suspiciuosly as he made his way to the jarl's palace. Dar'Shenn was used to this, and wasn't bothered with it. Once he approached the door of the palace, he was stopped by the guard.
- State your business khajiit. what's in the pouch.
- I've came here to collect my reward for this- He opened the pouch and showed them the head.- I believe this man was causing you some trouble, robbing the nice folk of the Hold.
- Go right in. Speak to the steward. And don't cause any trouble.- One of the guards said, being slightly disgusted after Dar'Shenn showed the content of the pouch.
Dar'Shenn entered the palace and went near the throne. He bowed to the Jarl.
- I've dealt with the bandit threat. They shouldn't cause trouble anymore. Here's the head of their leader as proof of their demise.
The jarl looked at Dar'Shenn, at the head and then at his steward.
- Avenicci, give this Khajiit the reward.- He then looked at Dar'Shenn- Thank you mercenary, you've done us a great service.
Dar'Shenn received a nice pouch of septims. Five hundred, as the bounty letter stated.
- Thank you.- Dar'Shenn said.- May you walk on warm sands.- He said, bowed again, and exited the palace. Firstly, he deiced to visit the local tavern for food and drink.

"This expedition of yours. Where are you going?"

"Whiterun."

"And then?"

"The Reach."

"To do what?"

"I'm sure you've heard of our purpose."

"Yes, to find the cause of the disappearance of the Dwemer. But why the Reach? Wouldn't Morrowind better suit your needs?"

"Not an option ever since the Red Mountain erupted."

"But why the Reach?"

"You ask too many questions."

Thorald drew in closer and there was a glint in his eye. "Tell me."

Drystan sighed and after a long pause said, "There is an old Nordic Barrow nestled in the mountains. Below that Barrow is the entrance to an ancient Dwemer citadel beneath the earth."

"What's inside?"

"A piece of the puzzle..."

Morning came. Drystan was still awake and did not seem to fazed in the slightest. The Stormcloaks woke and began packing up the camp as they munched on some rations for breakfast. Morn woke as well and began doing the same as Drystan checked on Sophia's condition."
