"I don't have any wood to knock on..." The soldier mutters back, "So I'm not going to make you any promises right now, alright?" Almost as the words leave his lips, a small entourage of soldiers comes around the corner. You can see that it is a spearhead, three soldiers with light assault weapons flanking a highly decorated soldier. Your companion automatically snaps to attention, looking straight ahead and saluting. While his arm is rising, the soldier surreptitiously nudges you and gestures for you to do the same.
The final road block has arrived.

Bilbo shuddered, his face pale. He was starting to get seriously creeped out; these things were scaring him. He needed to get out of the city. For a moment, he stands, contemplating, before finally heading for the playground. He might be able to rest there, grab a bite, think of a plan. And he didn't see any creatures nearby.

The playground seems to be completely deserted, but other than that it is absolutely normal. None of it seems to be damaged at all, the paints on the slides, mini forts, jungle jims, swings and monkey bars do seem to be a bit faded and you can't see their real color with the blood red false sun drenching everything in its own light (except for that cross and those rings). If you had to hazard a guess, you might call them blue, maybe green.
As you sit and think, and eat your snack, you once again hear that sound. Closer again, almost deafening even though you cannot see anything that might be causing it. It's so loud that you don't notice that the door of the school opened up. A small child, maybe in sixth grade, peaks out of the doorway and hesitates, looking at you carefully before gesturing for you to get in.
