The first anniversary of Heroes VI release is near - and patch 1.8 as well.
This will be something special, since 1.8 will come with an enormous amount of bug fixes and changes - and sadly and inevitably probably with some new or previously undetected bugs as well.

Since it is like that I only hope the changes will be enough to balance the game and that there will be further patches to eliminate just the bugs

Itīs not couple of people think so, look official forum look here, 80% of people think so ...

Expressing personal dissatisfaction is one thing. Trying to negate every small positive development with a flat "the game sucks no matter what, if this or that doesn't happen..."

Actually game sucks big time, again look at official forum. How many people are happy with H6 ? 1% maybe, the rest 99% are unhappy with what they get. Look at UBI H6 servers, they are almost empty, all players from my friend list not visited game server for months ! This is facts not just my opinion. Now compare with Dota 2 situation - patch every weak, developer sensible to players needs, server with 70000 players online all the time ! People are not blind (in most part ), they go were they are respected. Not were you got cheated all the time ...

You're still representing the community, right? Not Ubisoft?
Surprise, surprise, but I do NOT represent the community NOR ubisoft. I only represent myself, and I don't owe anyone anything, not the community NOR Ubisoft. The only person I've been owing in that regard has been Angelspit from Celestial Heavens, since he did bring me in because he thought I was "qualified". I think, I've paid that debt back to him, if you want to call it one, and way back in the times of Homm V.

Of course you can keep doing whatever you want but that will hardly improve anything. I'd like to think that the insiders are trying to improve the game, not its reputation - the latter is definitely not your job, except if you want to look like an extension to Ubisoft.
I've never cared how I look like, since I will look to people the way they want to see me anyway, no matter what, and since I happen to work for Ubisoft on most things Might and Magic - freelance, mind you - that's where most people stop to try and take a closer look anyway.

Infinitus, the poll question is "Are simultaneous turns absolutely necessary for online multiplayer speed".
It is NOT, "Is the game and franchise going down the drain?".

So 322 of 397 voters think that, yes, ST are necessary to speed up online MP game. And? Does that mean all work on the game should stop, if it's not the integration of ST? Does that mean we have to start an other round of "Ubisoft sucks, the game sucks, the patches suck, everything sucks, I hate Ubisoft, snow them all?"

Also, we need to remind ourselves that we, the forumgoers, do not represent the entirety of people who play Heroes of Might and Magic.
Only a small percentage of player even go near forums, let allone be active on it.
So, it may well be that 80% of forumgoers think X or Y. But what does that say, when that forum is only 20% of all the forums and 15% of all players go to forums.

As for the rest - what you (and Elvin for that matter) don't seem to understand is that nobody - or very few people at most - measure your work on the game which is by the way just as vague as Ubisoft's and apart from your assurance that you're heavily involved, there's no way for us to check it (which does not mean that I doubt your word but that I have all the rights to do so if I want). You are just a tiny factor in the whole product's development and its ultimate future does not depend on you. In the end, you can't even be sure that what Ubisoft tells you is what they are really intending to do. The people who have real power on the other hand are doing next to nothing to restore their credibility and it is they who have to do something and inspire some hope. What exactly do you expect of me or any other of the "disappointed ones" when they f***** up mightily twice and are not even admitting it?

Silly Zeno, I only do that when they steal my candy.

I just wanted to make a few things perfectly clear. Exactly because you know, one would think that you'd refrain from calling me a beggar or other crap. Nobody owes me nothing but I expect some common decency if anything. And just as it's none of your business to dictate what I should do, it's none of my business to do so with ubi. They have been told time and again and I'm not going to waste more time trying to convince them. They've chosen their way, let them reap what they have sown. But my efforts to appeal to those who enjoy the game or are curious in what state it is in have nothing to do with that. That's about it.

Who cares? Are we in the credits or something? You don't seem to understand that we are not interested in us or our work being "measured" - no one said something like that, except that Elvin wasn't exactly pleased to have been working quite some time now to make a game better which no one except a very few couple seems to have an interest anymore in except as an occasion to start something like a reckoning (and ironically this includes part of the "insiders").
So what? In that case we are doing it FOR US, our interest in the game, the franchise, because it's fun - and maybe because a couple of people may have fun as well.
You don't? Fine. No problem.

Snowed up mightily twice? Expect? Well, disappointment is part of life - think about the disappointment of the Forge haters and then those who hated the fact that the haters got what they wanted. Think about the diasppointment of all those who didn't like HoMM 4. Think about the disappointment of those who think that Homm 2 was better than Homm 3.
One way or another, negativity doesn't help to ... cope with disappointments. Or are you less diappointed by taking every occasion to start the same lines over and over again?

What I don't get is why companies still prefer releasing closed source games, nearly impossible to mod or fans fix. If simply the game would provide all the modding tools required, they would save a lot of money, time and angry customers. Just give the damn tools they used to code the whole game, then someone enough smart will surely create patches for free, because fans like challenges. What is completely useless is to see fans violently arguing each other about issues companies don't even care or listen, nor intend to put in.

Btw since infinitus mentioned it, the ubi boards are composed by about 90% pissed off / disappointed people That's where you go when something goes wrong after all, it's a long tradition that has been going on long before H6. Which is not to say much, more people are disappointed in the game than not, regardless of forum.

Mmm.. copyright issues, and a bit of boastfulness perhaps? Some people don't like it when someone does something better then they did with the same tools. Also, maybe they think, that it endangers their job in the company, because the boss might say something like:,, hey, an amateur made something better then you did, yet your the one who's getting paid, off with you now!"

Back to the main issue. Like I said I'm willing to go back playing Heroes 6 seriously only when I get some solid new additions. Playing only five factions is plain boring for me now. You can play the game with a couple hero variants, but I really feel like there isn't enough units to fight with. I'm tired of fighting maniacs/ghouls or elementals over and over again. Even Heroes 2 had six factions, so it's hard to go back to the previous state of things when in H3 or H5 you got like 8+ factions (there were no dwarves in H3 or Conflux in H3). Looking back, I think that is what Ubisoft intended. They said to Black Hole something like: make H6 fast with only 5 factions. We will milk the players by making them buy expansions to get the rest of their favorite factions (not that other companies refrain from such policy ). The problem is BH went down half-way in the process...

Oh yeah, and I'm totally a single-player type of gamer, so additional content is what really matters to me, not multiplayer functions (I'm not denying their importance of course). And to be clear, half-assed dlc's are not quenching my thirst for new...

This would certainly be an interesting experiment for a professional developer to try.  I don't see it happening, though.

Your whole behaviour says it. You claim that you can't be held responsible for anything but yet have influence on a game which I, among other people, pay for and play. As you can seen, I hold Ubisoft responsible for quite many things because of the previous two reasons - what makes you special and carefree as far as your part of the job is concerned?

Apart from a clumsy exercise in sarcasm, what is this supposed to mean? You ARE small and the franchise future does not depend on you and that's that. Or you're actually Ubisoft's CEO in cover?

Most of the things you said are in no way relevant to this current "disappointment". I see no evidences that Ubisoft have learned from their mistakes, only some cryptic reassurances that "something is in the making", whatever that means. I wonder how much more the series have to be ****** up until people like you start abandoning the ship.

As far as I'm concerned you can hold responsible whomever you like, but since no one forced you to pay for the game and play it - you did it voluntarily - you should maybe start with yourself and stop barking up the other trees.

You know... I've been very critic to Ubi before, like VERY critic. I haven't changed my mind about them for they way they conduct business. But I feel that, at this point, It just doesn't do any good to keep on the bashing route, other than for cathartic purposes.

My perception is that Ubi's credibility and reputation has suffered enough that RP appearings on forums just wouldn't help. Moreover, they would become the target of people's anger. So, I think it's appropriate that they allow VIPs to communicate the bits of information they can share, as to not have it tainted with so much negativism. After all, H6 can use all the help it can get; and if this translate into having an already (old) bought game become better, then i'll just welcome it appreciatively.

Well, this thread certainly took a lovely turn.

I think some of the vitriol from the non-insiders comes from the fact that some of the VIPs (not all and I'm not naming names) will kiss Ubi's asses and say "everything looks great", "there are big plans", and "this patch will change everything" just to keep their oh so special standing behind the scenes. Like I said, I'm not naming names, but you know it's true with a lot of them as I've seen it first hand.

Until people who have no vested interest or ulterior motives see these big changes and agree it's a step in the right direction, there will always be anger towards Ubi.

Like I said, short of them fixing the map editor to accomodate the casual fan so you don't have to spend hours trying to figure out how to do one lousy thing, there is no amount of tweaking and balancing of stats and abilities that will be considered special IMO.
