The game was not bugged in the pre-release version, apart from the occasional mispelling here and there plus a few minor bugs. But you were never supposed to get the game earlier than the patch..

That's not what he said He said that people shouldn't have been able to launch the game before 2.1 was released ... Tbh, I don't even get why people are already able to play when the release date is in 2 days. Can we say amateurism ?

Hard copies were sent befor the release date. And since they are a stand alon the do not need the patch to run it.

Yea... Usually its the other way arond. People who pre-order a hard copy have to wait and those who buy the digital at day 1 can play.
I think its OK.

Well it's a common sight nowadays. I've seen many games shipped before their release date. Most shops probably get them a few days before release so that they can organize their shipping orders and other formal stuff...

Digital version probably is patch 2.1 (~2 GB) + activation code.

Thanks, I pre-ordered the digital version because I do not trust Ubisoft with physical goods after H6 release.

I don't know anything about Sandro as I haven't bought his campaign "Dance Macabre", perhaps I ought to do that one day. I played the original campaign which has no Sandro but ends with Raelag showing up from nowhere as cliffhanger for the expansion.
Is Dance Macabre important as an introduction to Shades of Darkness?
