So...they made a big deal of dark elven crossbows and they don't add them? Lol. Unless they're an assassin ability or the hero weapon

would be cool if they were the Might hero weapon, yes
but right now in H6, all Might heroes attack with ghost swords

So I'm guessing (judging by the artwork), that instead of a horse Dark Elves will get a "corrupted" version of a Sylvan deer for a mount? Fine by me. Although it's not a common thing to find a deer in an underground cavern is it?

I am not certain that the Christmas artwork is quite so indicative as that. But if that is indeed the case, then you've hit the nail already on the head. The deer is Corrupted, so for it to do things that are contrary to its original nature isn't that great a leap of logic.

If that deer turned out to be a dungeon creature... I could go on a rampage through the streets, threatining people with a knife until I was arrested.
The line up I would favor would be like this:
Evil Eye / Assassin / ???
Minotaur / Lizard Rider / Witch
Hydra

I think they said only two dark elves, so no Lizard Rider (unless you're thinking of something else riding the Lizard).

It is just my ideal line up, not what I think it will be. Unforunatly it seems there will be no hydra unless they make them look really weak.

Just saw the new assassin pic. They look awesome but I thought they were going to use crossbows and that those chakram girls were the melee assassins(like blood maiden).

Well is not like raptors and mammoths underground made a lot of sense either.

Traversing is one thing. Having it for a "natural habitat" is another The problem with a Dungeon horse is that imo it will look similar to Necros mount, only with purple flames/gas fumes unless devs will think of something original. Then again "if" we would get an expansion with Sylvan faction they could have a "normal" deer for a mount, so we would have a logical (or not) deer/corrupted deer connection (if I remember correctly in Heroes VI timeline the Dungeon faction is still in it's early years, so they could have some of their "good" brethren patents to boot).

is that confirmed?
I think the core line up will be something like this:
Assassin(melee)
stalker(magic/support)
evil eye(range)
but well the roles of the evil eye and the stalker could be switched,so I think it is possible that the stalker is a ranged unit

I hate to make another remark about your spelling, since the first one was rather patronising and my spelling can use a few pointers as well. But do you mean the hand is weird? Or wired?
And I don't see either, but weird can be elaborated upon. Wired makes no sense from what I can see.

Looks fun. But I'm not buying any Ubisoft product ever again until they merge all god damn servers into one.
Beside, I bet they will sell it a high price for just one faction extra.

Well I focused on the artwork once more and found the reason.
My problem is with his left hand (from our point of view) of the upgraded version. Well not exactly his hand but his dagger.
With the gray blade of the dagger blending with his cape, and its hilt more or less naturally continuing his arm, it seemed to me, that his *left* hand was either ended by a hook or deformed in some way.
I now see where the problem is. But still, the artworks somehow feels not right to me (I thinks it's the body structure)

Regarding the new dungeon unit.. "He reveals himself only when he strikes" -- obviously they couldn't grant him permanent invisibility while not attacking, or else you could just let him sit while casting spells until you win. I'm guessing that at the start of combat he is invisible for 3 rounds or until he attacks, after which he is revealed for the rest of combat.

Things like invisibility and dodging mechanics in turn based games are something I dislike, because those are highly unpredictable and cheat-friendly (when playing with AI for instance). I know that in a tactical game or even real life battles unpredictable events are something you must always be aware of when devising a strategy, but in a game it's simply annoying when your plan fails because your enemy had a 3rd dodge in a row (or your unit had a low morale freeze). And us such imo invisibility shouldn't be in a Heroes game. I know, morale and luck bonuses are also unpredictable but devs nerfed them in Heroes VI so they are not as annoying as they were in Heroes III where a chain of lucky strikes from an AI Necromancers units obliterated your forces with ease...
So I hope the description is like this only for the purpose of lore, but it's highly possible that it will be the unit's active ability...

Maybe they'll be like Stalkers from H5 TOTE... which would suck, because those guys were annoying. I hope it's just for the purposes of lore, though.
