Such bugs should never happen as a patch should have some testing before release. Non working tactics in 1.7 (or the twice damage by neutrals) should never happen in the first place.

RMG is complete standalone code that generates a map only knowledge of h6 map format is needed here. It can even be a standalone exe that just generates a map which gets inserted into map directory without the main game running at all.

Simturns in a very limited version were implemented in homm3 by fans that had no access to h3 code. Now Limbic have the code and say it is complicated/imposssible to do any kind of simturns.

Well guess what it would have been better if they had been frank about it. We have small team and cannot do that or priorities are elsewhere etc.

Oh, don't worry. They will claim it was tested thoroughly, but then when questioned as to how the players could find a multitude of remaining and new bugs within 5 minutes of playing, they will mysteriously go silent.

Either that or put out moronic explanations like this doozy.
"Neutral stacks do double damage for no reason."

Yeah most of the bugs that appear post-patch are probably things that were initiated by messing with the game code (like the tactics bugs etc.)

what if they rewrite the tactics part of the code entirely? that's what i mean when i say i hope they rewrite the code. farfecthed but hey, the whole thing that is happening now is farfectched
they do have a small team but i really do think that the previous code was messy. the game was unstable and "heavy" on release if my memory serves me right.

What they really should work on in expansion pack is the AI imo. It's disastrous! Unless much handicapped (like 3x bigger army then yours) they pose practically no threat, even on hard:
- AI heroes prowl the land like stupid, flooding you with their heroes, splitting and weakening their main force instead of keeping one big army (not like in Heroes III were those heroes purpose was to flag your mines and that was annoying but logical), additionally, their weak heroes waltz under your nose like idiots, waiting to be wasted, they don't even try to run away from you;
- many AI units don't use their special abilities at all;
- when under siege, although they're getting pawned by archers, AI units stay behind city walls, waiting to be obliterated;
- their economy is based on cheating (they develop cities poorly yet they use their ,,unlimited'' money to buy units)

Well, in fact most of you will probably agree with me because you've seen AI stupidity with your own eyes...

When playing a map against AI it's like me vs neutrals, because AI players are dummies. In Heroes III for instance, where AI heroes developed they armies nicely, after a couple of months, if you had more then one enemy it was hard to maintain enough armies to withstand attacks from enemies who's strength was on par or even bigger then yours. Meanwhile in Heroes VI, when playing a scenario, after a couple months I found my final enemy (who was doing practically nothing, he didn't even flag mines which were around his starting town) pathetically weak! What a bummer that was...

I just had enough of this bull...

Do NOT agree! They should fix ALL BUGS first, tweak anything else LATER. It is highly becoming decreasingly likely that they are capable of fixing all bugs in any ordinate amount of time, however, which is a pity.

Although the game still has some bugs, those are all minor imo. They've already fixed most of the important stuff like unit abilities, artifacts, hero traits. Now it's time to tweak the game. And they won't fix every bug, I wouldn't count on that...

As I agree with tweaking the AI, it's getting more and more discouraging when you see that even the abilities of the creatures are not working (and because I'm a little biased I can't resist to mention again that pit fiends/pit lords ability Blinded by rage is only on paper) or oddly placed (see Seraph vs Celestial epiphany blade). Yes, maybe it's not groundbreaking but still... It's strange when you not only fight with the opponent but also with the information on tooltips.

Well, I did not play scenarios so far, so did not experience that much dumbness, because in the campaign it is not like that.
But yeah, the difficult moments are probably all planned and programmed...

But yeah I am hell annoyed about the tactics thing - it is still there!

Would want to see that one fixed beforehand - castle fights with big units, are just no fun like this u_u

What videocard do you have? I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 (plus latest drivers for it) and the game is almost unplayable for me, due to the dreaded Town screen freeze bug!
I admit that when I had an ATI/AMI Radeon HD4870 there were no such problems at all.

Well, well, well. I'm playing the Wheel of Hate map currently, Hard difficulty. And, well, I didn't convert! Playing Inferno I sneak-grabbed another town, Sanctuary, on Day 14. I was playing the map with Ai opponents of different difficulty, and this one had been building up to Capitol and Fortifications, but only 2 Core and 2 Elite dwellings. Still coversion would have cost 9/9/2, if I remember right, and so I hired a sanctuary hero and built the 3rd Core instead of converting.
Actually, that decision is playing out nicely. I grabbed an Elite outside Sanctuary dwelling and didn't need to convert it while being able to accept the Sanctuary troop offering on capturing.
The player who lost the town captured a town underground and converted it to Sanctuary. Town captured now, and still no conversion necessary.

Now, the reason, why this works so well, is the fact that conversion costs so much more expensive compared to building dwellings.

I have two ideas that I would like some opinions on.

1: What do you think about a poll on the topic of "Best character of H6 vanila) With two DLCs and out and an expansion announced we can asume that the Vanila game is done now. I know the story of the game was nothing special, but both DLC and even some original campaingns had few characters that were interesting in certain way.

2: How realistic would be that a grupe of people would gather and create a full version of the fan manual. People that have time, and are willing to invest it in such a project. I for myself would volantier for this work, But I do not think I could do it by myself, and I certainly could use some technical help.

A poll on the chars would be nice, there were a few enjoyable ones out there. However I would exclude both Sandro and Crag Hack from the poll. Yes, they were by far the best of them and one of them would win hands down, which was exactly the point. They was extra effort put in to write the extra good. On top of that, this would turn it into a Sandro vs. Crag Hack popularity contest.
If you were going to do this. I'd say leave Crag and Sandro out, for it to be a reasonably fair.

As far as a fan manual goes, I'd love one, but I don't have the time to add to the project.

Often times, it is easier to find things in manuals then on the internet. Plus, with a physical manual you do not have to switch tabs and windows all the time with al the risk of doing that.

I'm sure you've seen the manual that spamm and his team made for H5 and H6.

While it's true that you could find the info on the internet, do you know how long it would take as opposed to just going to a certain page in their highly detailed manual?

I'm back playing h6.. so many patches

I really liked this cost reduction on buildings. However, there is one thing weird in the 1.8 notes. I saw that they balanced the kirins around the new growth rate (1) and buffed their stats to compensate, but their forgot the hailstorm aura? If I remember correctly the dmg of hailstorm aura was based only on your water magic and number of sacred kirins, and not based on their min/max damage. Am I missing something?

I'm asking this, cos I remember this ability was really good for magic oriented heroes

thanks!

I find it incredibly good for magic heroes but not so much for might. It should be one part might and one part magic than two parts magic, in my last game hailstorm aura did a tiny bit less dmg than their melee dmg(under a might hero).

Hmm, yeah maybe.. But I remember the first time I saw hailstorm aura I though it was supposed to be an alternative source of dmg for magic oriented heroes. =S
So magic heroes would benefit most from hailstorm and might heroes would benefit most from the normal attack.

Anyway, tvm for the info! I'll be testing this soon. =D
