Hallow Havoc (OoC)

Warning this going to be a one shot.  Ie there is a main goal, and once that is done, the game is done.  It is also and easy one shot, please keep this in mind.

It will be very limited free form.  If there are fights, any 'minor' creatures can be dispatched however you like within reason.  Only mid to high level (they will be indicated by being lieutenants, generals, or of course the main bad guy) will you need to let me decide how successful your actions are.

Here is the premise.  The storybooks have it ALL wrong.  Werewolves, vampires, and the like are not the bad guys.  In fact, they have been trying to protect humanity from Malbozia and his demons for quite some time.  About 1000 years ago they managed to lock Malbozia and his lieutenants and generals away.  On Halloween night in the year 2012, Malbozia broke free.

Your characters are descendants of the legendary monsters (Ie If you are a vampire..you can trace yourself directly to Vlad Dracule).  Though you are fledglings (ie just discovered you are/were just turned into a monster) all your life you have heard of 'The Organization'.  Dedicated to keeping Malbozia and friends from killing the humans and destroying the world.  It is a collection of all the great monsters of legend.  Many who are still alive, despite of what the books say.

Of course, since humans would hunt you if they found out about you..you have a 'human guise'.  In it you are vulnerable to everything a human is.

Here is a sample character sheet.

Name:
Monster Type and Description:
Human description:

Pretty straightforward and basic.  Your powers, weaknesses etc will be the 'classic' version of the creatures.  Ie no vampires that only sparkle in the sunlight.  Sun, stakes, garlic, etc would be the weaknesses of a vampire for instance.  However...fire is EVERY creatures weakness.  (Well the ones allowed anyhow).

Keep the size of the monster to Large or smaller .. no dragons, phoenix, or other really large monsters. (Sorry Nessy is out)

I might join this as well. Let's see if inspiration strikes.
Edit: What would you say of the Headless Horseman, as far as halloween monsters go?

Sounds good to me.
However: How long will this RP be? Do we need to make those awfully long posts? Can we use any monster we can think of?

Just about any monster you can think of is acceptable.  You will have to include powers/weaknesses if not one of the stock monsters. (Vampire, werewolf, mummy, Frankenstein)..and all powers/weaknesses are subject to approval.  As for how long a roleplay it is .. that depends on the players.  The end game is Malbozia, when he is locked away/destroyed..it is game over.  As long as a single lieutenant or general survives, Malbozia can not be locked away or destroyed..at all.

Yes the Headless Horseman and Jack can be used..just remember that regardless what creature they are I am imposing a mandatory weakness to fire.  I have two NPC's exceptions to the fire rule, but they include reasons why they are the exceptions..and one has weaknesses of their own..the other is a special case...sort of the legend of the legends *laughs*.

He is Cain.  He is the first werewolf, and cursed to walk the earth until the end of time..so he can not be killed.  That doesn't mean he can not be STOPPED however *grins*

I can quickly come up with powers and weaknesses for the headless horseman and Jack if you want.

Headless Horseman would of course be able to create flaming pumpkin heads and throw them (where they explode).   His weakness is running water (ie rivers, streams, etc) must be at least a decent size, can't turn on a hose to stop him for instance.

Jack can survive total decapitation of all limbs, and control each individual part independently.  He can animate mannequins, scarecrows, pumpkins, gourds (and similar)making them grow vines and otherwise aid him.  The more he animates however, the quicker he tires out.  His weakness is of course fire, silver, and fallowed land (land that is designed to grow crops but have been left without crops to allow the land to replenish itself)

I have one that I could use (a Doppelganger) and I know its abilities and weaknesses rather thoroughly, but I'm wondering if I could use something that is literally the personification of nightmares and if anyone knows what that would be?

My first thought of someone to use was the grim reaper. However, I think I may join this one with the bogeyman.

I really like that people are thinking outside the box on this.  If I was asked to come up with the abilities and weaknesses of a bogeyman .. that would take some thought.

Instant travel would be one (can use any closet or under any bed).  Shadow transform, can for a short time cloak themselves with shadows and mimic any other monster (ie become a shadow werewolf) with all abilities but on a lesser scale (ie strength would be reduced).  Really bright lights are their weakness, however, and when in shadow transform even just bright lights will force them back into their own form.

As for the personification of a nightmare, not sure, though you can be an actual nightmare (the horse whose mane is made of fire).

One note of caution though..you are facing demons (Think this was not clear) so might want to keep this in mind.

Hmmm... So Doppelganger or Nightmare? I don't think a Nightmare is weak to fire (It's already on fire after all) so a Doppelganger it is then.

So before I make a character, I'll just give you a short list of powers/ weaknesses...

Powers: Can shift its body into animalistic forms of almost any kind, as long as they are human sized or smaller. A doppelganger can also change their body shape, face, bone structure, etc to that of another person that they have seen and studied. Usually, the doppelganger needs to have a piece of the animal or person they are shifting into to be able to transform (hair, skin, tooth, some other organic part of them). A doppelganger can regenerate lost limbs if given time to recover, and unless they are killed by gold, silver or fire will be able to come back from a fatal wounding (Note, this does include decapitation, but it still sucks to be hurt and the Doppelganger cannot function while healing from a wound severe enough to kill a human!). A doppelganger cannot actually bleed to death, though it can run out of blood.

Weaknesses: A Doppelganger cannot cross an unbroken line of salt, touch gold or silver, and is incredibly vulnerable to fire. Hawthorn wood is toxic to the touch, and can render a Doppelganger comatose if it touches their blood. A doppelganger cannot heal if there is salt in its wounds (though that is not fatal to the doppelganger in and of itself) and it has to wait the normal amount of time for burns and wounds inflicted by silver and gold to heal. A doppelganger's eyes are always golden.

That is fine .  I would even go as far to allow shifting shapes without blood/etc..but it takes time between changing forms.  ((IE you are not Mystique..which can go from one form to another to another without pause..you have a 'recovery time' of a couple minutes between forms))

Thanks Mytical, I had a few of my own ideas as well incorporating both the Headless Horseman and the Dullahan upon which it is inspired, I'll incorporate those together and see if you approve.
Just a quick note before I start though, is it not a tad strange to have a weakness to fire, despite being able to set alight one's own pseudo-head? And to have a weakness of both water and fire?

Powers: Ability to set alight it's pumpkin head and use it as an exploding projectile; Inability for it's way to be barred.(I.E. Locks, gates and such things cannot stop it from going whereever it pleases); Ability to ride with the wind (I.E. to ride it's horse faster than horses should be able to run and to be accompanied by strong gusts of wind while doing so); The ability to drench anyone in blood at will(blood comes out of hammerspace); Being undead;

Weaknesses: Inability to cross streaming Water; Fire; Gold(Gold is to him like silver is to werewolves and crosses are to vampires(It both frightens and hurts him upon touch)); Hates being watched (I.E. He must stop others(non-allies) from watching him with whatever means necesary (From sacring away the watcher, through blinding, to killing) before being able to continue with that it was doing); Being stopped, albeit for short while, by the sound of explosions/cannonfire(It's own head does not count);

Name: Mitch Boman

Monster Type and Description:
Type:Bogeyman

Powers:Can use any closet or bed to instantly travel among any other closet or bed; can use shadow to transform into other forms, which, outside of helping bring terror to the people(children, so far), can bestow weaker powers associated with the chosen form; can summon forth a fog in outdoor areas, more for cover than anything else

Weaknesses:Fire; Bright lights nullify the shadow abilities, and can, if bright enough, cause great harm

Human description: Plays the part of an ex-air force pilot, now living in a farming community, and hiring 'himself' out for crop dusting. Throughout the day, all anyone can see of Mitch is the dirt-brown goggle jacket and pants that are worn. Though, not a lot of people see Mitch in the day anyway; 'him' being frequently out flying in a plane. At night, however, is when people can see the lie. Mitch takes the form of a fit man, roughly in his early-to-mid 50's. Hair is short, brown, and is often not seen combed, due to it being bunched up in the goggle jacket throughout the day. Facial hair is consistently seen 5-oclock shadow style. The shirts he wears at night are all darker-colored short-sleeved button-downs. For his crop-dusting business, he sets up appointments during the early hours of the night. Several people thought it strange, but grew accustomed to it as time passed.

War-Overlord - Weakness to fire and water is not that strange.  Vampires have been known to be weak to both.  Not only holy water, but the running water also.  (IE inability to cross running water).  The headless horseman was more bridges then water, I'll confess..but not many covered bridges anymore.  Just keep in mind you are not the original..but his weaker descendent (with time your powers grow).  Your head is indeed immune to flame, the rest of you..not so much, and of course your own flame can not hurt you in the least..nor any fire it causes.

That means that I can take a bone golem or a zombie golem.

Let's go with bone then!

Name: Vince (last name unknown)
Monster type and description: Vince is a lazy and a bit crazy bone golem. His body even though made of bones is tough, but unlike with the clay golem fire won't strenghten it - in fact it will burn it. His ultimate goal is to find a place where he can sit and never have to move again, but with the humans everywhere it's impossible to do so. Vince has lost some of his marbles over time and he can do some unintended things and say something that he shouldn't have said. He also can't remember his last name because of this.
He has a good heart, well, actually, a good soul because he doesn't have any vital organs in his body. He doesn't need to eat, drink or breathe, but he needs to absorb the enemys bodies to regain energy. Vince can use bones to repair his body by just placing them where he needs to. Because he's a golem, he is a bit slower than the rest of the monsters.
Human description: In the human form, Vince is a beautiful young man (mid 20ies). Ladies find him attractive and he uses that as a moral boost when he fights Malbozia's servants. Vince is muscular and he's always wearing a T-shirt and jeans. When in human form, he must eat, drink and breathe and he can't absorb the dead enemy, but he gains on speed which he finds very useful. Strangely, he seems more sane in human form.
Vince has long brown hair and a small beard.

I hope this is good

Alright, let's see what I've got in me noggin.

Name: Marven Marks.

Monster type and description:

Type: Doppelganger

Powers: Shapeshifting, greater regeneration, durable, pseudo-immortality.

Weaknesses: Fire, Gold, Silver can kill the Doppelganger; Salt wards away and cancels the doppelganger's powers; Hawthorn is a disabling neurotoxin; Eye color never shifts (always gold); Shapeshifting is a little uncontrolled (unmastered and not experimented with).

Human life/ description:

Appearance: Golden-yellow eyes, blonde hair, medium height, thin-ish. Wears denim pants and the rest of his clothing could be found at any salvation army (plaid shirts, sweaters, etc, etc)
Age: 23
Background: Marven is the guy who doesn't understand what is happening to him. Up until two years ago he didn't show any signs of any powers or other oddness. The only thing different about him was his yellow eyes, which he disguised with a pair of blue contacts to not freak anyone out. He was working as the office b**** (that's literally what it said on his business card... his boss had an odd sense of humor) before his entire department got axed and he was forced to work odd jobs to make ends meet. It was under this stress that his powers began to develop. petting a cat or dog caused fur to start growing on his arm until he pulled it away, cuts received while shaving and injuries from construction jobs disappeared in seconds, and when he got mugged and technically killed in an alley one night, but he woke up the next morning unharmed (albeit without any money, no keys, no wallet and missing his shirt and pants). He came to town after someone sent him a letter that promised to explain what was happening to him...
