Town screen freezing bug (Nvidia driver)

It looks like someone from Drachenwald german forum (KINGSKICKERS) found the solution to fix the town freezing bug. The solution is described in this topic.
Unfortunately, my german is not good enough to understand and/or translate the mode of operation.

But someone from this forum or someone from Drachenwald could translate it (I guess people from Drachenwald are sometimes reading this forum).

Google Translate gives a basic help

It may be limited to Windows XP, someone with other OS should try it out

I do have same problem, which anoys me alot when playing campaigns.
My specs are enough hi: win 7, 64 bit
GeForce58o GFX
i7: 26ooK 3,7GHz
8Gb RAM ....
Im hopping this will fix it, even if Im zero at german language!

EDIT: today ive tried to play abit of campaign....4 times i tried to enter town, always image freez'////I wont buy a single thing from these snows!

for now only working solution is downgrade of display drivers...

it's annoying but if you don't play any latest games now it's probably worth it

So, I started playing again today and experienced this freezing bug as well. Followed the advice given on the German site, via translator. Works perfectly again now. My computer is a tad slower, but that's not that big a problem to me.
Edit: And now the problem is back.

7 months ago I gave up with this game because of Ubisoft servers and everyday connection problems. Two days ago I thought "some time passed by, now it should be playable.." - and what? I installed game, started playing, went to townscren - and game is frozen. What is wrong with YOU UBISOFT ?!

I'm sorry to inform you that last patches created new bugs :S

Have you tried to change graphics drivers to an older version like stated above? it may help...

It is one of the few times I cannot really blame ubisoft. It's an nvidia driver related bug and this has gone on for a few driver updates..

I don't agree. Seeking solutions to this problem I watched many forums and apparently bug exists since September 2012 (!!!). It's 100% Ubisoft fault. They sold me this game - maintenance and support is their f** business and even if it's drivers bug they should contact Nvidia and force them to solve this issue.

I remember a similar issue in another game, World of Warcraft. One particular area in one zone would crash some of the line of nVidia cards. Blizzard actually worked together with nVidia to nail the problem, which was then wrapped up in a driver update - specifically mentioning that problem in the patch notes. I was one of the lucky ones to have it so I was happy that it got fixed.

I'm not that sure that Ubisoft doesn't have any fault - I think this bug appeared with the addition of a patch, maybe clashing with a nvidia update.

The bad part - neither BlackHole nor Limbic are (no more) working on the game, so it's so damn difficult (near impossible) to fix it, because who is going to collaborate with nvidia....Virtous? They are a 3d outsorcing company, no way man.

Sadly I fear it won't be fixed, and we'll have to live with the current workaround (older graphics drivers).

I have downloaded again drivers from Acer official website(as was advised to me by nVidia support), nvidia drivers v 296.32 , file name VGA_NVIDIA_8.17.12.9632_W7x64
And then I have performed a clean intall with these drivers, and everything works just fine. However I would not like to keep this solution for long since I also play other games that would benefit from newer drivers. Below you can see nVidia's position on this

Does it mean that buyers owning Nvidia video card won't be able to play the expansion ?
Or will the minimum requirements be : no Nvidia video card ?

I suggest to wait before buying the expansion and see if anyone with NVIDIA card and with the expansion have the same problem or not.

I expect to not be fixed, but you never know...
