Seeking strategy for tricky situation

Hello everybody,
I found myself in a very tricky situation and am seeking for a strategy to solve it. What it's about:
Some of you may know the fan map "the battle of wills" which I enjoy playing very much. So me and a friend of mine got the first big round and played for a couple of days on this map. Now we are discovering the first neutral fortresses. They seem to be bugged because they are guarded by a stack of crossbowmen of 999.999. I took a look into the map editor but didn't find a clue what this bug could be (normal army power is set here). Nevertheless we played a couple of days (realtime days not game days ^^) on this savegame and it would be a pity to restart because of this bug. So my question is that I'm seeking for a strategy to actually beat this stack of crossbowman. I'm playing as Inferno Tears Magic. What kind of strategy could you imagine to beat such an enemy? How big has my army to be to glance a chance?
Thanks in advance guys!
mfg,
beef

Tears? You are in luck, tears has the best crowd control. Time stasis, petrification, puppet, blocking with earth elementals. That won't buy you a lot of time, however moving a ravager close or even better gating one near them and petrifying him will not let them target any of your units. They'll be taunted by him but unable to attack him either. The breeders, lilim and their gates should take care of the rest.

EDIT:

There is a similar way that can achieve more lasting results but may be hard to pull off. If you manage to surround the marksmen with gates/summons and move the ravagers within two tiles of them but still protected from the blockers that stand between them and marksmen, then you render them useless. But I'm not sure how you would do that, perhaps puppet them to put them in the corner and cover them with an earth elemental and small gated unit. That would cut them off completely and the ravagers would be able to move in on the very next turn.

That sounds really good! Absolutely worth a try. Thank you very much for that.
Another thing that came to my mind: What about the Blood Might Skill of Necropolis which destroys an enemy Stack over time. Would that work?

Me again,
perification and ravager works brilliant. Now I just need to get a couple litres of coffee, sit back and take a few hours to destroy these 999.999 units... :-)
Thank you very much!

Good luck And yes, a death knight's ultimate should kill them easily but you should find a trick to delay them from killing you. Scrolls should help and they are not uncommon in artifact merchants or an advanced marketplace. Intimidation should keep them from acting too though I am not sure if the duration is affected by stack strength. That would be problematic

Well I'll go the infernal way though. Planned for the weekend, probably will take a while ^^.
So you seem very competent about inferno strategics? Are there some other neat tricks like the ravager petrification combo?

There are a few, depending on the setup you have in mind. The devil is in the details
