Even wine itself is great I'm running SC2 on Ultra settings with wine, no problems. But native linux games are awesome

We're missing one and it's either yogi or raenus. If you don't join soon, your slot becomes fair game to everyone else who wants to play.

Old and restless, aren't we?

But Joonas is not around at the moment, so even if he joined, it would still be a while before the host started. Just putting it out there.

I love how you immediately make the comparison there

But 15 people, lol. They're really talented and I hope they continue to deliver great games like AoW3.

15 people, I would never have guessed... It kinda seems unreal. Especially because Triumph is around for quite some time know, and I thought they're a bigger company. This puts UbiLimbic into shame. I mean, all their "resource" excuses seem so far'fetched at this point...

game w/ JJ:

rocky start.
out of the blue, literally - from the blighted lands across the rapids to the east of my capital, i began that turn to find my city lost and beset by blight-concealed lost souls that were unbeknownst to me laying in wait right next door.  with my main forces off attempting to complete a quest in time, and just one turn away from training additional reinforcements, they took advantage of the opportunity to exploit the weakness to cold that the lone level 3 hero defending my people had.
luckily, at the same time an upstart hero approached wanting to join my party, and they had been groomed for just such a rescue mission.  so i split my forces, her and her men back towards our homelands, as i continue on towards the horizon, summoning all the help i can muster.

gah i love this game, aow3 pbem makes life heaven.  its like im peeking down through the clouds from above.
wish me luck

Haha, that sounds pretty awesome. Are you guys fighting each other or co-op vs AI?
Also, what turn is it?

I've just played turn 13. Playing against each other. Also on board: a 2-AI team, random. I have contact, and it's two Sorcerers, human and Elven.
The roaming dudes are pretty annoying - when I started my turn I was notified that may Leader was attacked by a combined force of Scoundrels and Lost Souls. The AI managed to lose the Unicorn I had been gifted with. I'm not happy wbout that because it was such a cute addition to my army.

It's yogi's turn in both games now.

Turn 13?! Why is it going so slowly? I got to finish a co-op in 2 days by turn 50.

It's not a co-op!

It's because yogi makes at most two turns a day.

If you are in the same time zone you can of course say, ok, let's alternate turns  until 12 or something, but in PBEM you cannot play 25 turns a day. A turn may easily last half an hour. Go back to the story I told, where I took that town, even though the AI managed to panic my leader. That battle lasted a lot of turns, even though there were not many units, a dozen, maybe. Takes time. You have to check distances, read descriptions in some cases. I mean, with 9 races you don't necessarily know whether Axemen and Deepguards both have Defensive Strike or just one or none of them and so on.

And if you are playing virtually for keeps and can't just reload you just have to be very careful.

I mean - I admitted to a reload (in Ironman mode) in the AoW forum because the story was so hilarious.
PBEM game I opened, I knew I had played a turn the night before - pretty pissed, mind you, feeling good, but I couldn't quite remember the details. I was surprised I hadn't finished the turn and sent it, and even more surprised when the game notified me upon loading that I'd do a reload and the whole shenannigans, because I couldn't remember anything.
So I reloaded the game. It was in an advanced state, and everything was fine. I had just researched Resurrect Hero, and among others I was ready to attack something guarded by 2 Red Dragons plus Wyverns, with my secondary Hero Hilde, whom I'd grown quite fond of, but mostly T2 units, albeit Champions. And I thought, no problem, I'll bait the Dragons with the formidable Hilde, allowing my Low-tier Champions to do the dirty work, while Resurrect Hero would return Hilde in case the two Dragons would kill her.
Combat went like a charm, exactly as imagined. Hilde got killed indeed, but the rest survided in great condition, getting the job done.
Except, that when I wanted to resurrect Hilde I couldn't - I had defeated AI opponents before which had surrendered, and I was above the limit of allowed Heroes!
And then it hit me! I had done the same thing the night before, pissed, and had been so aggravated by that oversight, costing me Hilde, I had just pulled the plug.
And done the same thing all over again - and sober I accepted it, of course.
But probably the funniest thing is why I'd pulled the plug in the first place (and had been tempted to do it again): because I was so ashamed with a view on Hilde! In my head it went, What the hell, imagine that! You promised your secondary, lass, you go in that Dragon Lair with poor forces. Look, I can resurrect you now, even if you die, so have no fear. Go in with everything you have - if you die I call you back immediately.
And the poor sucker believed it and did it! And what good THAT did to her.
I was ashamed because I had been revealed as a bad leader.

That's what you get playing a game for nearly 2 years now.

snow
hope i didnt just snow that up.  everything was looking good, then i moved my leader to scout one more tile... forgetting that the army was atop a mountain, so now my leader is just 2 movement points from being able to rejoin the troops.  oh and theres two armies of independents in the vicinity that are at war with me.  while the two tiles will defend eachother, im not very confident in auto battle managing the distance between them well at all
and my other hero is still one turn away from reclaiming my capital.
hope you dont log in to a victory presentation JJ.

next on both games btw

Couldn't be, since there are still the 2 AI Sorcerers. But I would have gotten a message about a defeat - which didn't happen, so relax.

*sigh

wow, the ai won both fights for me!  i watched the replays, and it actually moved my leader back to regroup with the rest of the army both times instead of just charging in; playing quite well too - it only lost one summoned unit.  this makes up for all the times the computer gods forsaked me.  quest completed; capital reclaimed, back in the game!
your turn, "Stinky"

So, Dwarven Rogue versus Goblin Theocrat, with two Socerers in the fray, for good measure.
Might get ugly soon.
