cheating and still lose

I agree with JTL, winning against someone who is cheating is like kicking them in the teeth. I was playing my opponent on BFH and they had a pandoras box to up their main to level 50. Took his castle when he was away and he returned with no spell points, so I still won, but it was close. Couldn't believe about the level 50...almost like he wanted to get caught, oh well.

On an unrelated topic...isn't it funny how all the highly anticipated fantasy and rpg games are coming out within 2 months of each other? Almost makes me glad the multi might be delayed for homm4, gives me time to immerse myself in dungeon siege and morrowind.

The worst part of a flame war..when it dies.

Even I am too tired to revive it now.

All of my best wins have come on hourglass.

Way too many to name.

Why are they the best?

Because when all the luck is bad and you still win it's pretty fun.

Had a game vs Tumanic last week where I had Sack of Gold and +12 knowledge helmet on island and 1 Black utopia and got only black orb.

Still managed to beat his earth tome.

That was gratifying.

Pulled off a win vs Castrated where he had almost double my stats there.

Still not sure how that happened. But of course Cas credited "superior battle techniques".

Funny because I think his are much much better than mine.

Beat BossBos Earth Tome a few wks ago by trapping him in the town to deter him from summoning, stepping on his dead stacks and luckily resisting his implosions.

I still contend the map is mostly luck but on a rare occasion you can beat the bad luck and win.

Those are always great wins.

A game I remember..

I was playing a person on a random map, fortress, he was castle. Game went well, and I took his main town, with archangels built.

So then Solmyr runs up to the town Im in, attacks with 7 stacks of 1 level 1 unit, casts chain, and surrenders. I think "what is he doing?" cause I didnīt like it. So then day 1 next week I buy 2 of his archangels, go out, see his main standing 1 tile away from his 2nd town, so I take that town.. find implosion in the guild, and since he did that thing with solmyr and I have lots of gold I decide to give it back =)

So I take the 2 archangels, klick on his hero thats right outside the town (yes Im actually hit&running him from inside HIS town, with HIS archangels, using HIS implosion =D Yay!)

I kill stack after stack.. and he starts complaining, calling it cheap, arguing that he didnīt hit&run me with solmyr, that it was something else. Then he doesnt wanna be hit&run anymore so he drops. And reports loss (thanks).

It was actually the 2nd time I ever hit&run someone and it felt nice to dish out some poetic justice =)

JEBUS RUELS!! =D  WOHOO!!
Hit&run is BE SUC

Back to the topic..

My most miraculous win was vs DMbirdofprey. It was bob2 and I was defending the centre castle.

In the end I had 8 naga queens + 100+(?) of gargoyles. he had only summoned earth eles and he could not come into castle. He had almost double my spell points but I had magic mirror on both the stacks and also his catapult had gone bust.

The battle, from this moment, lasted 8 rounds or more, so he just shot magic arrows (taking chances)and I just defended...Till the final part I had 58 spell points while he still had 128. At any of this point though he could hav simply summoned another stack of earth and I was dead. But he shot a magic arrow that was reflected. I feel really bad about winning him like this but when his earth eles health had reached just nice an Imploding came.(He had to take about 6 of his own magic arrows before the his eles' health was reduced enuf.

Note we had both repeated "no rules right?" again and again(coz I have had disputes wif certain rules players before..nowadays I tend to tell them to make sure). It was GG, he agreed...and we both still had fun..albeit mayb less for him; still a gg nonetheless. He learnt from his mistake prolly and chances r that he wont make this mistake again.

I show U my max and U show me your max too (In a game of course). How will this ever reduce the 'fun'? Within the 'rules' if it is made this adage will still apply right? Just within an extra boundary..

To each their own but I just have 1 piece of advice: Make it As Clear As possible what the rules are/about no rule BEFORE the game. Hopefully whatever type of game it may result it will b a fun 1.

Hia all

Most impossible win...well nearly

Map : BoB2

Me :Red

opponant :Blue

As allways when I play this friend of mine I pick Stronghold and Hack, and counterwise, he picks Rampart and Ivor.

All is set...at week 2 or around that time I get the carto/u and one of the tents ( i have a speed-scout at the boarder allready, just waiting

Now the funny thing is that i get 2x Stronghold....and Im thinking ; HAH, this is gonna be like a nice stroll, in the park on a sunny afternoon

BUT..when I get the carto ic that he got 2x Rampart aswell ( I cant use the 'look at opponants castle move' of some strange reason

But I clean all of my area in 2 weeks, give or take ( days ) and I flag all of the mines in middle...BUT here comes the tricky bit..Im so darn focused on the topia, that I completely forget all about the scroll with ress in the water.

And what I realised..im week 1 that it was on a 2 min timer, but Im acting like im on a 4-6 min timer so allready in week 1 I dont get Cyks nor Behts.

But all is developing good i.e. stats and skills , so I dont really take notice of , that I dont get a SHIELD...not like a rdm arti or in topia/marketplace(s)...

and When Im about to break early week 3, to take his pan-box and his topia, THATS where I realize this crusial lack of weapon, well shield.

So I wait 1 more week...and during this time my opponants stats were just sky rocketing, and Im left with Hack

Hack : 38/10/16/15

Ivor : 42/31/32/27

Hmmmmm, not good at all ....

I had Diplo from day 2 on most of my heroes so I plan to combine all of my joiners and make 2-3 really strong scouts and then Hack of course.

The middle castle was Dungeon, but I didnt build in it caz he was about to break..or so I thought..he keeps running underground several times..cleans all+ water area, so Im gettin more and more nervous..; What the heck is his plan?!

FINALLY in week 4 he charges in and takes the 2x libaryies ( guarded by blackies and titans ), remember I was to occupied by thinking OF his plan that I didn't take the ress scroll, so I was not willing to take looses from those to stacks ( yes I know, I to can hear the sound of a chicken at this point)

he goes into the middle castle and get the mana vortex. At this point I was a wreck, so I thought ; What the heck !. And i charge in, just before the final meeting I pay a lill visit to the nearby marketplace..and WOW Recanters on retail for only 15000 gp's, DEAL!

The stats were as written above ( oh ya, I had pendant of negativity as well ) :

Armies :

Opponant : 16 goldies/64warunis/101D-Soldiers/364b-dwarfs/100+ silverpegasis/200+Grannies/500+ CentCapitanos

Mine     : 17 AB's/ 17 Mightygorgons / 265 wolfraiders/35 cykskings/54 Tbirds/150+ orgremagis/184 Orcchieftans

He slows me, and throughts his GD/silver vs my AB's taking em out excp 3...then he makes his 1 and only mistake..he 'waits' with all the other units...then Hack's offence skils comes in handy, some would say..and it really did and my mighties + blind on Grannies

As john Lennon once said, a man with both arms full of take-ways is either very hungry or knows someone who's very hungry...naahh Im just tossing, I think it was someone with both sleeves full of luck and moral

And I got morale+ luck in nearly ALL of my attacks from that point...

Just 1 example my mighties took out 3 GD's and 3 died in stare, and then they get morale + luck taking out allmost all of his GD

After that I just slowed/blinded him of the battlefield

BUT darn it was fun..I was COMPLETELY outnumbered in stats and armies, but still I was able to pull out a win

All for now!

Greetings UT

There was another funny game I had in season 1 on B4H, against danish legend Endor. I was blue (Castle) against his Necropolis. And Iīm at work here and have nothing else to do .

The situation was hopeless for me, because my gold mine was too strongly guarded (lots of Mighty Gorgons), and I made the mistake to still try to get Portal of Glory week 1. It was a complete failure, I had nothing in week 2, while he, having played well as usual, with his cheaper town and double income had been able to build and recruit quite a large army. And from scouting deeply into my territory, it was obvious to him that there wasnīt much resistance. My only chance was to get the grail, but digging at the grail mapīs central point failed, and next turn his main would arrive and kill the lonely digger.

I considered to concede, but ... as I had built a hero chain, just in case Iīd find the grail, I pretended. One hero moved to the digger, connected, and moved away again. Another one moved towards him, connected, and went further towards my castle. All my other forces superficially moved back towards my Castle, too.

This put Endor in quite a hurry to take over my hometown, and instead of dominating the map, taking a few more major artifacts, killing my scouts, and waiting for reinforcements, he immdiately sped towards it. His troops should have been more than enough in any case, but by selling all my resources at the marketplace, I was able to build Castle walls and recruit all of my troops. Thanks to the arrow towers and the bad luck he had with the catapult, I won that battle with a few Pikemen left, and he conceded the game (much too early as he often did).

can you imagine somehow getting 3 wins from a game that's not really yours??  lol

I appear in the zone trying to find a game, and I message vulture and ask what's up.  He says he's in a game with Moc, Pro, and Chubby on 7-lakes, and asks me if I want to play (take over for him).  He then explained to me that if I lost then he would take loss.

So I accepted, and ZOOM!  It's week2, day7 on 7-lakes and I'm green.

- good: have capitol with stronghold / behemoths built, and I have 3 other towns.
- bad: heroes suck, scattered EVERYWHERE, with almost no army
- bad: Mocara (Red) controls all the mines in middle
- good: Prometheus (Tan) in retreating a hero with artifacts offers me a free boat to the gold mines (to help me contend with Mocara)
- bad: my best hero is a level 3 Jabarkas: 7 0 1 1  who has no spell book

So my re-gathered heroes transport a force to Jabarkas with behemoths, rocs, orcs, and fodder, for Jab to claim the 5 gold mines.  Meanwhile, I'm building a second stronghold town up to behemoths on the northeast corner of the main beltway.

- good: Mocara who has once claimed the mines has abandoned them, and is fighting amongst Prometheus.
- bad: Chubby (Blue) wants the gold too, arriving with Gunnar who has superior stats but only wyverns.
- good: Jab kicks Gunnar off the island and does not want to share gold
- bad: Solmyr (Chubby blue) wants the gold too and has 8 spell power.  Arrives with dragon flies, CL's me twice, runs
- bad: Aine (Mocara red) who has studied extensively from Gem (summon boat) summons boat to also reclaim mines.
- bad: I see Prometheus leading his main girl Sylvia (13 7 1 1) having 3 devils, and a big rampart force travelling counter-clockwise up the beltway north toward my towns.
- bad: I see Mocara leading his main girl Gundula (9 4 3 4) containing red dragons and others, travelling clockwise up the beltway north towards my towns.
- bad: Jabarkas sees Gunnar and Solmyr's approach towards him again.

Jabarkas enters a boat, abandoning his 5 gold mines, to get reinforcements and save his 2 strongholds.  At this time I have my 2nd stronghold prepared for any massive assault, having in garrison 4 behemoths, 6 cyclops, 50 orcs, 90 wolves, etc..

- good: Gundula (Mocara red) decides to head northwest and conquer orange's home-base after he takes one of my small towns.
- good: Orange retakes that town (which was once mine)
- bad: Orange is headed my way.
- good: Sylvia (Prometheus tan) decides to head south for reinforcements after he takes one of my small towns and sees my garrison.
- bad: Sylvia found the grail.
- good: from my excess gold, I'm able to upgrade all my behemoths, Jabarkas has some major reinforcements, and defeats Orange's secondary hero.

Mocara conquers Orange's homebase, but quits due to fatigue, losing most his towns to Prometheus.

bad: Purple, who is amazingly still alive, arrives by the northeast corner of the map gaining many joiners, decides to mess with ME before he claims those 5 gold mines from blue.

Chubby quits due to HFS (Heroes Fatigue Syndrome), and was in an inferior position.

good: jabarkas has a huge army of:
- 12 ancients
- 10 clops
- 41 T-birds
- 90 orcs
- 130 wolves
- 160 hobble gobbles
- 97 battle dwarves (that no-one seems to recruit in their ramparts)
bad: Sylvia has stats of 18 10 3 2
good: while Sylvia goes to grab more reinforcements, Jabarkas takes a town and visits a library.

Jabarkas wanders south-east towards his inferno grail-base for about a week ... to meet Sylvia for a final battle, because I had to leave 30 min from then (I first mentioned about this 3 hours ago) ... we didn't want to have the game unfinished, and I told Pro I'd concede if he wanted to keep it dragged out (because I'd lose anyway in the long run).

So we agreed to a final battle on open ground (inferno ground) after he got a few of next weeks' troops.
Sylvia's army:
- 12 arch devils
- 18 efreet sultans
- 166 familiars
- 118 centaur captains
- 12 unicorns
- 49 elves

arch devils wait.  Sultans attack wolves killing half, blocking orcs.  I cast mass haste.
T-birds kill elves.  Ancients kill unicorns.  All others attack sultans leaving 1 left.
centaurs attack behemoths, behemoths retaliate killing all.  familiars and devils then attack ancients, killing 5 total.
I cast mass fortune.
T-birds attack arch devils and get lightning strike   ... and a few other troops get lucky too. and the battle continued in my favor from then on....

The mass haste was the killer.  If he had it, he'd win instead.  And unlike other ToH games, if he decided to stay in castle he would've won because I wouldn't attack, me knowing it's suicide for stronghold vs inferno on that battleground.

Yeah that was a good game.

One lil thing.

I had red dragons, ghost dragons, water walk, animate, behemoths and was in route to take the heavenly helm then waterwalk up to your stronghold seems how your main hero wasn't there.

How is THAT an inferior position?

After 12 hours I clearly stated "I think I can win this but not at the expense of losing my whole day so I'm going to leave."

If you are going to tell about a game then get the facts right.

My position was NOT inferior.

Considering you were trapped between both Pro and I I think had I not dropped you would have had the worst position.

Finally, before HOMM3 becomes a part of History, I manage to say about my most impossible win. Battlemania with two Necropolises choosed by agreement of interesting gameplay, and my opponent got all the artifacts to prove his right of managing my skeletons. He had about 30/20/25/20 boosted might hero with about 500 skeletons, combined with 15 bone dragons sieging my main castle. So I only had 10/10/10/15 Thant and 15 ghost dragons. He had chackles of war and no spell to prevent me from destroying his catapult, no offensive spell and no animate dead. The only he could cast were earth elementals and level 1 spells, because he didn't manage to build a guild. So, he created about 500 earth elementals who, with 500 skeletons, were shooted by my towers, and my 3 ghost dragons were defending during about 100 moves before my opponent surrendered. What the hell shouldn't I jump of joy!

 Hi guys

I think we should cut the insults and talk peacefully and reasonably. It's as though none of you have read the Code of Conduct or something. There's a very beautiful statement there about controlling and ebbing away anger.
Now, I know it pisses people off when people use wraith bombs and other such tactics. I get pissed off because 1. it doesn't seem fair that you spent all this time building up big army and magic skills just to fall to ten Wraiths, and 2. because it's natural human psychology. Losing makes you feel bad, nothing you can do about it.
On one hand, you should use abilities like these because if you don't creatures just become jumbles of 'who-has-better-stats' as opposed to monsters actually having specials that you can use to win. On the other, the creators of Heroes didn't actually mean wraith bombs to exist and probably would have disabled them somehow if they could.
It's actually a big deal if f.ex. wraith bombs are an infallible tactic which work at least 85% of the time. If it's only a lucky sort of tactic which only works in certain situations, then that's pretty much okay.
Now, Mocara... you said you knew the person who was being dishonourable, which is bluntly speaking a lie. You insulted Pan and you can't take that back just because she's your friend and you didn't know it. If you think whining and forcing surrender is dishonourable, at least say it to her face!! I cannot forget one of my wins against my brother in homm2...it was like  after a 2-3 months after the game appear on the 'market', and we used to play hotseat at nights.
Anyway I played necro on that night, and we agree to meet somewhere for the final fight. But I discovered something interesting...I fought every battle, every creatures on the map so my ghosts could grow in number...My brother wander so much why do I take so much time to get to him.
Anyway I want to say that this was possible in the early games of H2, dont know after (when first I saw a ghosts )...I can even remember the map....but not his name.
In the end I had about 10.000 ghosts...10 k...We both remember that game and laugh about that night...how could I be so..."maniac"

A magic vrs magic game.

I picked Spell Power & damage (Malekith), he picked Intelligence (Ayden) on Jebus.

Our beefed up heroes met in the desert with full armies. We both had full armies and all spells. Problem was: I had about 120 SP left while he had about 500.

My turn: I have like 2 Wyverns and some other insignificant stack left vrs huge stack of devils, 2 more big stacks and more than enough mana to recurrect his entire army.

I made what seemed like a weird move with 1 of my stacks. Naturally, with his demons being in range he killed it, perfectly positioning himself for chain lightning that hit all of his stacks in perfect order doing exactly the right amount of damage and left my last guy standing with like 3 hit points. Needless to say, without a strong hero and any artifacts, I killed him the following week.
