Though he kind of wondered that, it wasn't exactly what Austin wanted to know. He nodded to the response anyway, thinking of a better way to ask what he wanted. Then he thought of how he would go about it. He would just stand there, waiting to be directed to where he should be, whether that was to start off on guard duty now, or to a tent for the rest of the day, and start the next day.

The balding guy points to the big guy. "Follow him, he will show you what is what."
The big guy gives you the grand tour, showing you where you will be stationed, and the like. At the end of it "You rest now. Start in morning."

The monk bowed politely with a nod of his head as Mama appeared and said, "I see that you are offering a job as a guard of a local mine." He said politely and directly to the point, "The poster itself directed me to talk with you if I was interested, and so I asked for you. I am wondering about the specifics of the job, where it is, what I will be expected to do and what I should be expecting if I decide to take it."

Again Mama looks at you and seems to peer directly into the very fiber of your being. You feel as if you can hide no secrets from her if you tried. Finally she smiles. "Let Mama tell you what, you seem perfect for what they need. Now don't get Mama wrong, it ain't an easy job, far from it, but you seem the type not to shy awake from a bit o' hard work. It's just what the poster said, some nasty critters have been raiding the camp, making off with things what ain't theirs and things they shouldn't. You would work long hours, from sun up to sun down, but only thing you need to do is to make sure things stay where they should, and not go where they shouldn't." She takes out yet another map, and hands it to you. "If you are interested the guy in the tent marked with an X can fill you in much better."
She makes a couple of gestures which for some reason you can perfectly understand. "You be careful, I sense something dark in your way, an it don't mean you a bit of good."

Jeddite took her map with a grateful nod and tucked it into his sleeve. These robes were good for something it seems. "Thank you, mama." He hesitated for a second and made a gesture that meant, "Thank you, and I shall head your words" among his people. He walked out, leaning slightly on his staff as he wondered just what mama actually was. She was obviously not the human that she appeared to be... very interesting.

It is not that long of a trip from Mama's to the tent. Since the big guy is showing somebody around, the guard on the outside of the tent is a younger person who looks a little 'green' (ie new, not very seasoned). He stammers a bit when you approach. "H-h-halt! Wh-who go-go-goes there?!"

Arian sat by the counter with some gold pieces in his hand. "Hey, waiter, mind passing me a beer here?"
While waiting for his drink, Arian noticed the poster on the wall. "A job? Interesting..."
"Hey, waiter, could you also tell Mama that I'm asking about the job?"

The bartender looks at you. "Sure, I think they might have the people they need, but I will tell her." He goes to the large woman behind the bar. In a few minutes she comes over. "You looking for work too sweety?" She gives you a once over with that 'stare'. Then in a very well hidden, but where you can see it, thieves cant "You might want to go register at the guild first. I'll give you directions there." of course she doesn't SAY anything..and is careful that ONLY you can see her fingers move in the very secret language of the thieves.
Finally she straightens up. "Yep, they are quickly filling up though. So you might want to put some hurry into it." She fills you in the particulars, and gives you the two maps. "Remember to stop at the one first and pay your respects. Don't let em catch you running around and not be registered." Again in thieves cant.

Miles Logan was on his first official task for his benefactor 'Mama'. A simple task really, to let the manager of the mines know that a few more guards could be expected, and to pick up her 'finders fee' for the ones she had already sent. Of course he didn't go the front way in, Mama had seen to it that he knew a much shorter route..and much more 'private' also. He arrives at the back of the tent and 'lets himself in'.

Arian took the maps and payed for the drink, then he zoned out.
"Register at the guild... Yes, I s'pouse I should do that. Well, I better hurry now."
The young thief hid the map and ran to the slums as fast as he could.

It is a simple process, and as soon as you've registered you are off to the mines. Of course the guild gets a cut of anything you 'appropriate', but that is a minor thing compared to the benefits. (Like for instance alibi's). As you arrive to the camp you see a nervous looking guard trying to get somebody to answer who they are.

Jeddite holds up his hand to calm the young man. "Do not worry, I am here because of the job the 'Mama' was offering at her pub. I am to be one of your guards, and I would like to check in." If all of the hired help so far was like this boy, then it was no wonder why the mine was having problems.

Seek? Sudden formality from the nervous guy struck the monk as... interesting. But there were other things to take care of right now. Jeddite walked into the tent, making sure his staff did not brush the top and that he didn't disturb the fabric beyond a slight touch with his hand. ((I'm assuming that this is a large tent with its flap completely open)) Once inside, he stood with a straight back and looked for the man he was supposed to report to.

He looks up. "Another from Mama huh?" Apparently he heard the conversation outside. "Ok, you work from sun up to sun down, I'll need you at the very entrance of the mine. Will show you that first thing in the morning. Pay is 10gp a day, plus expenses. Any questions?"

Know where to hit? Well then, it might well be an inside job. Or just a very well coordinated goblin raiding force... or maybe something a bit more sinister. A mage of some kind, perhaps. ((It's always a mage.  )) "I'll be sure to keep my eye out, then. Is there a specific place I should sleep, or can I chose a place anywhere in camp?"
