Jeddite pulled out his sling, judging that he would be able to fire off one shot before any of the people down there could get close, should they prove to be hostile. He also held his staff low to the side and wondered what the thief was thinking. It could be their companions up there, but in a tunnel like this who knew what could be found?

Austin gets the feeling he should not approach what he was warned not to. It is probably magically guarded, in some way, and, with him being pretty well a novice in his arcane magics, it would not be the greatest of ideas to test it. Perhaps the password was somewhere else within the cave? He motioned for everyone else to leave as he did the same. He noticed the group across the way, and went for his staff. He barely touched it though, when he noticed that one of them looked fairly familiar, a fellow quarterstaff wielder. He brought the hand forward, into a wave.

Dorn stayed in the doorway, despite the young mage's gesture. He kept looking at the orbs.
"Password? What password?" It wasn't clear if he's addressing the orbs or just talking to himself. "And who put ye floating stones here anyway?"

Again the answer is not verbal, but in the minds of the people still in the room. "Blackforge Ironfist placed us here to guard this ore. Only those he gave the password to may remove this treasure." There is no malice or implied threat in the answer, it is just spoken as fact. The name sounds familiar, a long distant myth of the dwarves. The Ironfist clan has been thought to have no legitimate heirs for over three hundred years, Blackforge being the last. If he indeed is the one who put them here, that would have been at least that long ago.
As for looking for the password, it is not in the big room where the bodies are, nor in the passage you came through to get to the room. It might be somewhere deeper in, but it is not anywhere to be seen as of yet. Of course there is another passage, but it is unknown exactly how big this dwarven made underground place IS.

Austin, after the others get over, and start doing what it is that they do, heads through the door that was originally unlocked. He is cautious about it, and tries not to head too far in before heading back. As he goes along, he takes out a sheet of paper, and his pen, to make a rough map. Scouting isn't really his thing, but he figured he may as well try to get a little information while the others look into the other room.

Dorn finally manages to look away from the silver and its guardians to see what's going on.
"Ye know this lot?" He asks "J" and "G" as he peers into the faces of the new arrivals, "hey I know some of 'em meself! They were with us when the camped got attacked. Oi! Get over 'ere, lads! I got something I want to show you!"

Satin is the one who answers. "Well..they are just rumors. Or so I thought. Great uncle Merlin created them. They are called poppers. Strong Psionics and mental attacks, immune to blunt and ranged weapons...and if you pierce them, they emit a flesh melting spores..that will also eat through any armor you are wearing. So..I'd back away..very slowly..and whatever you do..don't go near what they are guarding."

Satin nods. "No doubt they were put here by somebody else then our great uncle. He made the first ones, but once he realized just how intelligent they are he let them do their own thing. They can enter a sort of hibernation or slumber which slows their metabolism to a stand still..only waking when somebody enters the room. No doubt a few minutes after we are gone they will do such again. Since they don't need to eat, or not that I know of..they make great guardians. They can live thousands of years."

Celestine wakes with a splitting headache. She is in a small 10x10 cell, and only wearing a robe. She can see her weapons and armor, through the cell bars, out of reach. She hears somebody saying "She will make a fine sacrifice to the staff. Our master tells us there are intruders in the halls though, so have everybody on alert. One of the creatures chuckles, or at least there is the sound in your minds. "You realize of course that we can read your mind, and know your motives? We do not wish to harm any, but we know none here know the password..yet. Please do not make us use force to remove you from the room."
Another 'speaks'. "However, the young miss is quite mistaken. The password DOES exist still. We have a duty to guard this ore, but we would much rather be elsewhere then here. Find the password, release us from our duty, and we will gladly depart."
