Hi, I've created a few power ups using objects from Composed Objects & NPC and New Objects Patch.

What I wanted to do now was to make an install file with just those objects and the respective scripts.

But I have no idea of how to work what is inside the Objects folder. Can you help me?

you mean to make your own patch? do what i do: find another patch, and copy the method for making one. you can use mine, even. just replace the texts with your own; remove everything in the .pac file, and place everything you need in there(minus the objects.txt that goes into the folder after the .pac file).

though, i'm not sure what to do with any scripting files. possibly, in the .pac file? somebody else could let you know about that, as i don't.

yeah, sure. but i think there's a thread dedicated to just that task. i'll see if i can find it.

actually, the thread i was thinking of is a little convoluted. i'll type up a quick diagram.

We are in the oposite corners. I have no idea what to do to make a .pac, what's objects.txt and until today I didn't even knew about txt files containing the bite codes to create the objects on the screen (I tought some magic men took care of the business) but I know what to do with the scripts.

Imagine you want to move object A from a pack, yours for instance, to a mod map. Step by step (remember, I know less then Jonh Snow) how would you do to make the map work without your pack but still with that object on?

Don't stress, just take a pac from other mod, open it, delete all items inside, ad yours, rename, save, is not end of the world.

Thanks, that would be very helpfull. We must add it to the thread "WoG and Beyond: Forum Links". It's useless to have standartized code (powerups, banks) if one can't atribute it to some beautifull objects.
Btw, do you have any idea what MSCOMCTL.OCX is?
I'm getting an error when I try to access the Objects Editor trough the Era Menu, it says "component or one of his dependencies missing". I guess I corrupted something in my atempts to uncover the secrets of object editing.
Already tried to reinstall without success. Probably I will have to start from a clean install. Thanks Gog.

yeah, it's a file that windows needs to run the era feature. google it, find a microsoft link, download/run it, and it'll add itself to your registry. i had to do the same thing.

no problem.
--------

lighthouse work:

edit: image removed.

dirt object work UPDATED WITH MTNS AND OTHER ROCKS(got rid of H3 trees, deadening to match necro/fixing rocks):

edit: image removed.

===========
along with the above objects, i fixed a few others, and worked on the new(homm3hd) dirt mountains, and added them too. all are available here, in the latest FREDOBJ upload.

NOTE: this is not the compilation upload. this is the official upload. to the two that i posted the compilation upload for: i would recommend that you two replace all the old stuff with the new in your maps; as i won't be releasing any more compilation uploads.

mods? is it possible that this upload be swapped out with the old version in the first post(since that one is no longer available)? and could you guys remove the deleted screens there, as well? i'd appreciate it. if you want, beforehand, i can gather the screens that are worthwhile, and add them to deviantart for posterity, so that they can be displayed in the OP. let me know, and thanks.

Your last upload is smaller than the previous one in memory size. Did you remove some objects?

"NOTE: this is not the compilation upload. this is the official upload."

the last upload i posted was the compilation upload, which had all of my old(and mostly garbage) objects in it, for those who wanted to be able to see the old objects on their map, and subsequently be able to replace them. the official upload is all of the best of that refined, with the new stuff that makes the old stuff look like crayon scribbles.

after over a week of not wanting to work on anything at all, i prepped all of the mountains(minus the stalagmites, for now), for similar work that i did for the volcanic terrain(cut smaller volcanoes from the larger ones). all of the terrains will be able to be more rocky, once i'm done with them. after these are done, i'll still have canyons, rifts, and cliffs to do for every terrain, using every mountain type.

actually, before starting on the new smaller mountains, i need to fix the smaller volcanoes. it looks like most of them need tweaking to both stand out more at their tops(so that they don't blend into the ground), and blend better with the ground at their bases(so they don't stand out as obviously seperate from the terrain).
---------
done with the smaller volcanoes(they look much better, i think). now to fix the volcanic mountains and volcanic reef, using the new work. should be easy; i'll only have to blend whatever needs blended, as i reshaded both the tops and the bottoms of the mini-volcanoes. when i'm done with both sets, i'll post a comparison gif. hopefully, i can post one of a decent size without losing quality.
-------
um... damn. not sure how to put this guys, but how the volcanic mountains are coming along...

the end results are going to be great. and i only finished one def so far(i was checking out HoMM3HD volcanoes, to see if they'd be better to use as base layers. it turns out, no). i've forgotten that i'll have to do all the animated volcanoes, but when i'm done, i'll be adding all of it to the patch. after posting a screen, of course. or maybe before. i don't know. i got 1 hour of sleep, so i'm running ragged right now.

well, i just finished the 6 volcano mountain defs(i have been playing around most of the day, just trying to stay awake). i wanted to better define the volcanoes, and also to fix their bases; as i never really cared for the speckled look(especially when placing over lava). hopefully everyone can see this gif:

edit: image removed.

edit: the gif looks like it's been compressed(i can see grid lines in some areas), but it's ok enough to leave up. i think ya'll get the idea. now, on to fix all the other stuff that has volcanoes in it(my WoG mtn, the Inferno castles, my volcanic reef[in the gif], an adventure cave[in the gif], and all the other volcanoes that either i did, or someone else did. i have a lot more to do than i first thought, just to finish this one thing on the list. sheesh).

i usually use the HoMM2 volcanoes with my pahoehoe lava terrain patches, as they blend well. the rougher-textured lava terrain patches i use with the HoMM3 volcanoes. i have more volcanoes to make, as well(besides fixing all of the current ones. i still have to fix the HoMM2 volcano lava flow, and find some suitable ash release to get rid of the amatuerish look of the smaller HoMM3 volcanoes. i have to completely redo those defs, as those volcanoes are the worst in appearance. i don't have to do the largest one; as that one was done right).
