maybe later for the images. for now, here is the newest compilation version. it contains the latest patch release and the old patch(not the new trees), for people who want to keep the uglier versions of what i've made in their maps.

well, at least now they can see what needs replaced, and can replace it accordingly, i guess?

edit: forgot to mention that i didn't test this patch. not sure why, but it's only 35mbs, where i thought the combined patch was something like 60 before. maybe it's compacted(forget the word for it now)? be sure to let me know if there are any issues.

yes, i made shadows and shaded objects to make a proper underground/subterranean cave system; but people can use those defs however they wish. nice screen, btw.

Both screens are absolutely stunning (with the second one arising a strong H2 feeling). They make one wish for a new map of yours. Sorry for misunderstanding.

I like it a lot, your friend got a nice and subtle attention to detail and the atmosphere is instantly catching my senses, really looking forward to play this map.

My ongoing work is not as good but I'd like to share a few previews as well, still empty in many areas but I love messing with terrains too much not to show:

I am currently hesitating to remove objects from New Objects Patch and replace them using exclusively Fred's patch instead.

You can keep both but try to use as rule 5-10 (or more but not less) decorative objects for every visitable object. This way you will give to it its own landscape. Placing several visitable objects nearby and on empty land will hardly look artistic, except if on purpose (as the desert huge area in tew2).

Also, if its your first major map or first experience with a new patch, use a sample map which is permanently opened in editor, where you place all objects as you see them in editor (columns). This way, is easier to check which one you need in a specific area, then in same time, memorize the ones nearby as they look on map. Once you memorized all objects, work becomes fluent, you just pick what you need, no longer random search.

i enjoy the screens. i always wondered what kind of stuff people did with my objects for their own maps, and now i'm catching a glimpse.

i've been doing work here and there. this morning i worked on prepping more trees for the coniferous changeout(and isolating the groups i already started on), replaced a few defs and updated the maps/zeobjts, fixed the original "school of magic" building, and made "evil" versions of both the "school of magic" and the "learning stone". since there are modders coming out with content that i was going to release with my own updates/future mods, i feel a hankering to finish my artifact sets for release with my patch.

nearing completion of the artifact graphics; i've replaced the least-best of them. i'd still like help scripting this stuff, but i'd rather release these now while they're still uncirculated. what i have so far(ignore the resources; i have everything together to make it easier to add new stuff):

i may still add a few to flesh out the more scant collections. and i may replace the wax seal graphics with a different version. it depends if the new version looks better or not.

Could you please tell me, what the name of def that has the "normal rain" effect?

FALD0025 and FALD0026 are the normal rain defs. 26 is the heavier version, should you want a proper downpour effect.
