Stupid me! That happens when you install mods manually, you forget important things, like install objects folder
Everything works fine now

hope so. can't wait to see more of your map work.

i've been collecting joshua tree and other caliche desert tree and plant life graphics to replace the rough terrain trees. i'll do what i can to match up to the old. although i believe the color might slightly change on some trees(maybe not, depending on how they look against the background).

good. so much of my old work is heinous now. and, i somehow forgot that i had released spiderweb before. i have better versions now(still waiting to complete the set of objects, though):

as you can see, i still have to fix their stalagmites, abandoned mine, and creature bank. i have web for tree tops as well(which i plan on making stand-alone webbed trees with, but it may make more sense to leave them blank so that the web can stretch overtop of anything the mapmaker wants).

i've been organizing a lot of plant life and other raw material in my folders; clustering dead foliage together to use on swamp and rough terrain, as well as gathering every bit of plant life i can for rough terrain. i'm also slimming down unnecessary files in preparation for computer backup as i go. so far this morning i got rid of 35 megs worth of images. i still have a long way to go until what i'll have to backup is clean-cut.

-------
worked on a few more odds and ends, and organized/optimized more stuff for transfer. i just got done replacing my unlit campfire with an improved version, and am working on using the rocks from the new campfire to replace the rocks on an existing one. i'll post a small screen once i'm done.

done with the campfires(the new versions have matching rock bases):

---------
doing some more prep work for the rough tree(and some rough plant) sets. i have 12 trees ready for test defs so far(though far from done. i suspect a lot of minute work will have to be performed on these trees until they can be used in the sets).

edit: yup. after adding these test defs, i can already see it'll be a chore to make these trees look right against the rough background...

--------
ok, brass tacks. i'm only 2 rough trees in, and neither look good. these first two trees, i've made multiple improvements to them, and i'm not seeing anything worth looking at. this may be an exercise in futility. i may have to work with the originals themselves, and only replace a few trees and then rebuild the clusters with them. i have to confess, my heart really isn't in this particular task.

By the way, Fred79. In your last objects collection there was a number of artefacts. FARF0001-113.
Seems there are no 44x44 arts icons for them?

Btw Fred how are your towns going? I really liked your concept for the Fear town and am also still looking forwards to a playable Forge in Era.

that's a long way off; i still have to go to college yet. i haven't done any work on either my Forge project or my Fear faction in quite a while. i most likely would've had my Forge project done and released by now if it wasn't for the townscreen building placement and castle graphics flaws/replacement issues.

working on various odds and ends, since online gaming is just pissing me off today. i'm currently looking for gifs of burning trees, to make burning forest gifs to replace my old forest fire(which is what i was originally prepping to replace). i also swapped out two mushroom defs, and have prepped many other objects for testing; including docks for frozen terrain(which i haven't gotten the intricate formula right for yet).
--------
goddamn it. now that i'm snowing around with the dead trees(working on the forest fires), and i'm in need of the formula i used to make the old dead trees into the dead ash trees; i realize it's gone. i deleted it along with the folder containing the defs once i was done. it was deleted even before i made the initial backup of the game files 2 or 3 years ago. i know because i checked that, too.

trying to remake an exact formula(or a facsimile) is a real pain in the ass. i think the finished products might make for improved dead trees all around.

currently working on one of many older projects(smaller mountains, like i already did with the volcanoes). i'm cutting for the white rock grass mountains atm. the edges should only need doctored a little to help the transitions.

The worst (the best) thing is that during working process new ideas and possibilities are constantly opening in front of you.

I was so happy after putting my first object on the map.
After two mouths I got over 200 "my" objects added,  and  I am still adding and editing new ones...

tnx Salamandre.

and in my newest vesrion of that rocky land, I put golden fish in that lake.

it will gives hero opportunity to choose one of three wishes which I still don't know which will be

Fred's new terrain surfaces (grass, sand...) are just fine for one trick I usually use to make landscapes more alive.
I use several mountains, made them part of a ground, put them one over another, and than cover them with some kind of grass, for example. Then add some trees, bushes, as you wish...

It gives really nice effects.

"crazy land"

For next landscape I used a lot of Fred's lava objects.
Mix of orange and dark grey (almost black) looks hot

"Lava Sea"

I tried to make top left corner to looks like dragon head

@ doc: interesting and entertaining use of objects and space. it looks like you're having a lot of fun as a creator.

you wouldn't have an upload for your objects, would you? there are two in particular that interest me. or are you saving them up to release your own object patch?

edit: also, as for two different sets of mountains you have there, i may be able to improve them(as they are somewhat out-of-focus, and need sharpening... and possibly slight shrinking), if you were to upload those(the rough mountains and the pillar-like mountains with the green tops); i could see if i could fix them for you.

...and i'm still interested in those two particular objects. namely the reeds from the pond/lake, and the sphere object with the designs on it.
