It's worth noting that Frost Giants of Vori are known for two things - their war with Minotaurs of Jadame and making great cheese.

Balthazar's Axe description points out that Minotaur king was betrayed by the giants, whatever that could mean.

Also, there are 2 mentions of "Barbarian Tribes/Kingdoms" (and Chieftains/Kings) of Vori in MM8 artifacts' descriptions - Drogg's Helmet and Terminus.

certainly there are many minor details in that info which I am sorry to say are false or bull **** (for instance some capitals are wrong and other things are shoehorned, like it seems to list races randomly and gloss over lots of history), lol

if I would add to it I could add a lot mate but let me know what you need in specific, like you are mainly looking for a list of all the kingdoms in the world or anything deeper or whatnot cheers mate lol

well, for starters, i want to know the names of the races in each faction. for instance, americans come from "america", scottish from scotland, etc.

for example, wouldn't the creatures from dungeon be called "nighonese"? would necropolis's creatures be called "deyjans", or merely necromancers? are the humans ALL "gryphonhearts"? the inferno's kreegans are clearly a race; and i am trying to find the equivalent for all the towns(i realize that inferno is the only faction composed entirely of one race, but i'm still curious).

secondly, WHERE does each race come from? for ex: since there are elves from different countries/states, are their different TYPES of elves?

third, i want to know how each seperate race in each town link to one another(how they came to fight with one another on the same side). has that even been written? did the writers go that in-depth?

a quick and general reply, IIRC erathia has the erathians, avlee has the avleeans, bracada has the bracadans, eeofol has the eeofol, deyja has the deyjans or the deejay (yes for real lol), nighon has the nighonians or the nighons, krewlod has the krewlodians or the krewlish, tatalia has the tatalians, phynaxia has the phynaxians, tularea has the tulareans, and vori has the vori, lol

not all of the humans are the gryphonhearts, actually the gryphonhearts are just the royal family of Erathia like the windsors of england or the wangchucks of bhutan, there are many many other humans all over the place who have nothing to do with them lol

in terms of the races it is very case by case, many of the races originated from the empire of the Ancients and came down many centuries ago on a spaceship called the Tomb of VARN (including humans elves dwarves and goblins), other races are spawn of experiments by the warlocks such as minotaurs, many races do not have their origin covered, kreegans are of course aliens from outer space who came down between Heroes 2 and Heroes 3 in a space hive, and others are weirdos from other planes of existence such as genies lol
for the elves they are all from the same race and are only culturally different, as said they originally came on the spaceship, then they went to Vori (Snow Elves), where eventually some of their youth got bored and segregated off on a ship to Antagarich to become the Wood Elves, then at some point there was another segregation to Jadame to create the Dark Elves (this is not really explained but it is hinted there were lots of nasty ass wars between the Light and Dark Elves in the past) lol

for how the races link to each other it is again case by case but mostly hinted at or glossed over with the biggest explanations in the Heroes Chronicles, e.g. the griffins are with Erathia because Rion Gryphonheart tamed them a thousand years ago and there is a long bond, and many of the Dungeon creatures were created in test tubes by the Warlocks in experiments, but nobody ever says why the gnolls and the lizardmen are together for example, they just are lol

Some interesting tidbits can be found in old monster pages from 3DO sites. E.g. that Tatalian Hydras are warlocks' creation (like in H1 and H2) and Nagas are summoned creatures from some other plane, like Genies. Shame there's only so few of them.

Firstly I quote myself, this is from my post in the Lore thread:

pumma said:
First of all in Might & Magic Universe, the one which was practically erased with the canceling of the Forge faction in AB you don't have Gods in the original sense. There role is taken by the Ancients. So you have these planets created by the Ancients and populated by all sort of living creatures created by Ancients magic. You also have 5 elemental planes and possibly 2 more (Plane of Light and Plane of Darkness). You don't have Hell or Heaven (forget about the nonsense in HMM4  - there are only result by the Forge fiasco). Also you have the Creators which are somehow related to the Kreegans. So all in all you have living creatures created by the Ancients and by wizards experiments (Warlocks or Bracada wizards alike), Guardians created by the ancients which are cyborgs or machines and creatures from the 7 Planes).

And I will add now - creatures from the Void. Also Hydras could be Demonologists (Followers of Temple of Baa) creation.

As Verriker already mentioned, some of the lore is contradicting mainly because on the Forge cancellation. So I choose the lore before Forge wipe-out instead of the lore after that. The main contradiction is that you have two origins of the Planet of Enroth. The first is that her is created by the Ancients and sent to far away star as part of experiment. The second is that the Planet of Enroth is created by the Elemental Lords 10000 years ago.

Also Fred bear in mind that Inferno consist not only by Kreegans but you also have Efreeti and Imps. I am not sure about the magog's origin but I think they are not Kreegans also. In fact most of the nations consists by two or more races.

Verriker could you please give some insight about Dark Elves and Dark Dwarves origin other than the one provided by AncientDruids?

AncientDruids could you please give such links for MM6 and MM9 monsters (Also MM1 to MM5 if possible)?

I got the single frames isolated for the forge avwattak file, but i didn't start work on them yet. Instead, i added 3 more seashells, and completed a small thing i've been wanting to do: adding new beached ocean bottles. I have 14 made(both half-buried & loose) and added to the 1.3 lineup. I now have 843 defs to transfer.

thanks. did you notice the "message in a bottle" at the bottom left(i renamed the ocean bottle because i made them for land too)?

i just got done adding an ayssid egg. these are what my creature eggs look like so far(they still have to be scripted; atm they work under pandora's boxes, where you "open" the egg after you fight possible guard "parent(s)", and receive one creature of that type):

something i just found, while working on one of my maps. i found a passability error with one of my sulfur mines, and when i checked the text file, found this:

apparently, this is able to happen because each of the three exactly named defs are filed under 3 different sets of "type of landscape". not sure if anyone else cares or knows about it, but i found it interesting enough to point out.

currently reading the "heroes 3 town rating" threads in order to get a better gist of what is needed for each town to be at maximum efficiency for each of my 3 campaign maps.

Some of the eggs seem too big. I mean red, black, green, another green and golden eggs in the upper row and blue eggs in the middle row. Ayssid's eggs should be in some kind of a nest, like the Rocs'. E.g. some beach/shore/cliff mutated abomination nest. I'm surprised there is no Griffins' nest. Spiders', Hydras' and Blue Crystal Dragons' eggs look marvelous. Blue-Crystal Dragons' eggs' texture looks better than regulars'.

i haven't made the griffin's nest, yet; but it's in the plans. any creature that would possibly lay an egg is in the plans(found out that scorpions only give birth to live young, so they're out. i had previously believed that they, being related to arachnids, must at least have one or two breeds that lay eggs, but apparently not). as for the dragon eggs, they're big for a reason. despite game of thrones, dragons are huge creatures, and it makes logical sense they should have huge eggs(in my mind, they are at least the size of clydesdale horses when hatched; and a dragon able to reproduce would be of a larger size due to it's maturity).

as for the ayssid egg's roost, their roosts are already dwellings, so having a little mini-dwelling doesn't make sense(being that the roots grow upwards, they would logically be the same size as the dwelling, for a place to lay eggs; again, based on the maturity size of the creature able to actually lay eggs).

the "blue crystal" eggs are diamond, for the diamond dragon i made(because i hated the wog version).

Well, it's your mod and you're calling the shots in the end, so I won't insist ^^
But Rocs are really giant birds, at least according to the mythology, and their eggs look just... so tiny in comparison.

Also, in the screen you presented, it looks like there's already a curled up mature dragon in every one of those dragon eggs. And that's just not realistic.

good point about the rocs, but i couldn't make the eggs big, because the nest would have to be even bigger. everything has to fit in a 32x32 frame, because they're going to work like a pandora's box when scripted(with different text, ofc).

as for the curled up mature dragon in the eggs, lol, i have no idea what you mean. i tried seeing what you see, and i couldn't do it. and i'm usually very good at being able to see what others see.

No, it's really easy. Take a Red Dragon for example. Its wings take up about 1/4 of the unit's space, but they don't have to. Similarly its legs and arms. They may seem immovable, but they aren't!

Now, because one picture is worth 1000 words, take a look at this. By using Photoshop and slightly twisting the Red Dragons limbs and its head, without resizing any of its parts (except for wings, but only about 50% their horizontal size) and without modifying its torso and hips, I made it significantly smaller:

Now, maybe you'll have an idea about what I meant.
