I don't know why you guys are fighting but I just installed this and it's amazing! Some are at the same level ( even better) than the original heroes 3 game.
thank you fred!

good idea(the pixie, i mean). i even have an idea of the design and animation. i was thinking earlier this morning about making the woman-bathing-in-a-pond def, and was thinking about how the animation would run.
as for the pm, i sent a reply.

after creating an era2 game folder, and using it to peruse my object patch, i found 2 errors. a missing castle def(FRED1789), and a number that wasn't filled(FRED0941). i added the missing castle def, and filled FRED0941 with my WoG replacement object(the summoning stones). here is the fixed upload: FredObj FIXED
in my defense, no one ever told me that my last object patch had errors(which they would find while going through the editor).

Will use them when VCMI will add support for new terrain patches

ok, but i'm asking if anyone has used them so far. i'm just trying to avoid complaints when i ever get around to updating my patch. i surely don't plan on keeping anything sub-standard in my patch, and i don't have anything to replace the more colorful(but likely less used) grass/brush patches. the plan atm is to completely replace them with usable, naturally-colored patches.
(useable? really?)

I'm not a "full-time" mapmaker, but all your objects are top quality, so I'd say to keep them

Complaints? Seriously, who would complain about 1 or 2 objects in a patch of thousands gorgeous ones

well, it's not just one or two, the ground patches that i want gone are sets of 7-8 each, and with at least 5-6 of those sets, they're taking up space that could otherwise be used for more widely-used stuff.
i don't see anyone saying that they have used them, so... they're gone.

From what I've always seen, if patch's author does not design its own campaign or map, there will be no one to use or play it.
This is due to 3 reasons:
a) there are very few mapmakers left.
b) era as simple mod on/off usage isn't widely spread thus people still think a patch will force incompatibilities.
c) huge graphical patches need a lot of time to see what fits where and when, tests and trials. Still today, the few mapmakers wandering around use only 10% of the original editor capabilities, because lazy or not really motivated.
Which looks to me rather bad, in terms of future perspectives. IMO, even with a functional VCMI out, the maps production will remain almost null.

i don't know, 300+ people have downloaded my patches. i would be willing to bet that at least half used stuff from my patch. the reason i say that, is i download a lot of stuff, that i don't currently use; so i figure there are others like me out there, who download stuff and don't use it. but then, there are others like me who make maps, and also change graphics and add ideas to the game. i think it's safe to estimate about half using stuff. if 150 people are using somebody's work, i'd say that that's enough.
but i can see how most people would want something handed to them on a silver platter, yes. something they wouldn't have to work on, just play.
which is why i intend to release 3 of my maps as well, seperately; with their own .lod.
would that count as a mod? since these maps could only be played by themselves, seperate from anything else?

99% of people downloading graphic patches have no clue what they download and how it works. Most of objects in a graphic patch have no type/subtype assigned thus they need manual settings, while people downloading them think their game will instantly look different.

true enough, i guess. my graphics patch work, is all blank(i think you gave me that idea, sal. you and others, possibly). but the stuff that i'm going to release with my maps, that all has passability fixed; it just needs scripting. which i will need help with. i'm far too busy to try and learn scripting, let alone 3d programs.

just some screens to show my progress. having this stuff available in an updated objects patch is still months away, though.
i'm still fixing/replacing stuff already in my old patch, before adding the new stuff. i have 6,435 objects in my .lod(subtracting the stuff i haven't worked on; which is mainly WoG objects, and a lot of the original HoMM3 objects). i removed the flags from nearly all of the dwellings(except the ones that i'll be replacing); and all of the mines and other various objects.
i figure, now that the new HoMM3 HD is out, most of the original objects will be getting redone by others anyway, so i don't have to bother with them. thanks again, Ubisoft.

Amazing.
Don't forget to include a few demo maps when you release, people need to see its potential out of editor. I am very impressed
From the last screen I now understand how one can survive without welfare or job: you found El Dorado. Thanks for clarifying.
