Question about .GID files

Hello

Back to HoMM3 after a break of some months.

I just bought the digital version on GoG.
I have some save games and a couple of downloaded maps and also a couple of random maps from my previous disc install of HoMM3 Complete and have placed them in the relevant folders; and they seem to load ok etc.
My question is:
There are also 3 .GID files which were in the main directory
Heroes3.GID
h3ccmped.GID
h3maped.GID

What are these?
Do I need them to use the old saves or maps from my disc install?

Thanks

These are junk files from Windows Help subsystem. Look here for details. You can safely delete them.

Yes I see what you mean.
The help utilities that come with the game.
Just tested it and it created a gid file alright.

Thanks Evaline
