My new team consists of..

Overlord the defender.
Veco the female hunter.
Elvin the female druid (I could not stand elven male voice ugh)
Poly the male scout.

I thought I'd make my life a little easier and got Overlord a level on bow. With 3 ranged characters and an entangling mage it's pretty easy to kill certain units. Eventually veco will learn gust of wind to further exploit my ranged power but so far it's not needed. I hate the beginning on hard, lots of backtracking because you could not afford some skills/items earlier or because you have to rest more frequently. I decided not to enter the lighthouse before I was lvl 7 and visited a few trainers first. Crossbow, axe, earth, prime and magical foci to be more specific. Naturally I have poison spray, regeneration, cure poison and identify. Poly got light magic for celestial shield, it should come in handy before long.

Time for lighthouse level 2.

Well, I definitely don't agree with the Defender. Imo it's not a good option. Full tank with no real magic and little melee damage. Didn't do much work in my first party. I would've grabbed a two-hand melee dps instead of him.

Don't really remember what level I had with my party when I did Lighthouse, but it was probably 5 or 6 cuz I didn't had expert warfare on neither of my party members.

That's irrelevant, I only wanted a defender because I had not used one before. I am confident I will pull through regardless.

Sorry but I don't like Dwarves at all. I can tolerate one in a party but that's all. And I really, really hate to have one race or one class party only - it's just booooring. Even having two same class in team seems waste of space for me (even if such party would be overpowered like Druids in MM6 or Dragons in MM8).

I've read Edwin's "Astronomical Notes" and it's incredible. Now I get why Marzhin thinks that the old universe might be separated from Ashan. The possibility is there, but how much of it are we going to explore? It rather feels like alluding more than anything, for the sake of oldies. Nevertheless it's interesting, if Edwin is correct then the Void is physical and there are other habitable planets and planes in Ashan.

Only bits. Like there was Erathia then it blew up when the blades clashed, then some survived going through portals to another world... that's about it. I didn't even know about Ashan up until a year ago but I gave lore a try and it sparked my interest.

A little update. My team has been fully promoted and equipped with relics Veco the marauder does surprising amounts of damage and has sweet dodging, levelling him on arcane discipline now. I got him the vampire armour to sustain himself through damage. Overlord the shieldguard doesn't do impressive damage but his taunt and blocking capabilities can help a lot. He's got gm armour too. Poly the pathfinder has an impressive range, by the time far away creatures close in he has made short work of them. He's also trained in shield, light and medium armour so he's good support. I rarely use his axe(expert?) from up close, the crossbow works better. Finally, Elvin the druid has maxed his water/earth and equipped three dodge-boosting relics. Needless to say he's a slippery one I am disappointed by the lvl 5 earth spell, acid splash is so much more useful most of the time. But liquid membrane is so broken, I love it ^^ Now that I've gotten tsunami my trigger-happy team is going to have a lot of fun. It was well worth giving them a slot in ranged weapons.

I should mention that there is a crazy amount of miss/blocks from the enemies. And between liquid membrane, mass heal, regeneration and nurture, an opponent must be really lucky to kill someone. I'll soon be heading into the tomb of a thousand terrors.

Updating.

Just completed Act IV.

Sadly Crag Hack died, but I guess it was for the best so that he could be remembered. That Erebos faceless was supposed to be unkillable until I activated the light beam. Found out midway that I could kill him in one turn, rofl.

As I am now in late game, I definitely see things a bit different. There was no need for me to invest in certain attributes and skills, like health for example. I thought survivability would play a bigger role in the later stages, but nothing that spells cannot do. In fact, the less health you have the easier it is to heal yourself. Defense can be provided by armor and spell resistance coupled with other buffs.

Micutza is the biggest dps as expected. Daggers are a lot better than blades in late game. Only inconvenience is that you can only get GM Daggers after completing Tomb. But after that, it's nothing short of rape. Auto-sustainable with Vampire armor and a Mana Draining dagger. Literally unkillable, the only thing she needs to fear is herself when facing Pain Reflection, lol. An absolutely superb class.

Stevie dishes almost 1000 damage on crits counting bleed. That is insane versus single targets. His only problem is limited mana, but apart from that, with 100 armor and over 30 resistances he's pretty tankable. Speaking of mana, Dash costs 0 but it depletes all my mana. And I noticed that Perfect Strike does not work... Yep, Windsword abilities are pretty broken. Shame.

Beowulf is awful on melee, but shines pretty good in sustain and buffs. If I'll ever play Bloodcaller again, I won't go mace and shield but foci, and won't skill any vitality attributes or Endurance because it's counterproductive for their passive. I'll get GM in two magic schools and it'll most probably be a lot better.

Jana has fallen off a lot. Apart from her buf skills, she's useless. Dark is pretty much useless. Prime, useless, apart from the cool Spirit Beacon, the buffs are mediocre. Time Stop doesn't synergize well with aoe damage dealers, it might be a lot more potent with a single target party composition. Bottom line, I'll probably replace the class with a Runelord next time.


Well, seems that there's still more content to explore even after credits were rolled. Let's see what it's all about.

It's too bad you don't have a crusader, the + light damage bonus for every attack special is REALLY good with daggerdancers

Highest damage team is probably 3 daggerdancers plus a crusader

Not 5-10 damage, more like 50 damage EVERY HIT on EVERY CHARACTER.

How many hits did the GM dagger GM dual wield bladedancer have again?


Plus crusaders get GM light and GM Arcane discipline, which are both pretty kickass skills.


Ofc they get GM sword too but you want to go magic because mandate of heaven scales with Magic and with light magic too, if I recall correctly.

I'm almost done with my second playthrough, far easier than the first time. Noteworthy combo: Veco harpoons archers close that not only blocks other ranged units from shooting the team but also sets them up for poly's crossbow that hits multiple enemies in a line Fun times all around.
