No, it does not work for the main heroe regardless of the number of heroes in the town with the advanced portal. Works fine for all other heroes.

Elodin, maybe it's an effect of the "mana reducing" bug : if your main hero is suffering exponential mana cost increase because of its dynasty weapon, the advanced town portal mana cost is too high, and you can't launch it. And as your secondary heroes don't suffer this bug, they can use the spell.

Hy heroe has Asha's Eightfold staff equipped and his spell costs are normal.

Upon doing Google research it seems this is a bug others have experienced and is a "fatal" bug that means restoring a prior save or restarting the campaign. I have no saves prior to it becoming bugged, so I must restart the campaign. Fortunately I was at the end of map 1 so I only have 1 map to replay.


I wonder if the bug could be related to an advanced town portal being in the same town as inferno's special portal building. I only build one special portal and had built an advanced TP there first. It is the town on map 1 that has a one way portal exit to the west of it a little ways.

Another bug: I was playing scenario with XEEN and some battlefields were wrong. I could move my troops out of the standard battlefield border. (example: behind my hero)

Be sure that you don't already have two heroes in the target town when you're trying to use advanced town portal. That happened with me a couple of times and I thought something was wrong, until I realized the town was full. Other than that, advanced town portal has never had a problem for me.

It did have a problem for me several patches back, but I think it was for the 2ndary heroes only. And then it was also fixed (long ago).
I only have vanilla Heroes VI, not any of the addons/expansion yet.

Hey guys, have you tested if the mana bug is still present with the 2.1.1 ?

I was playing today and I didn't get any problem with mana increase. But instead, I got something very weird.

Playing a custom magic hero - haven campaign map 1

About 90% to finish the map, I noticed that my spells were a bit weak.. For my surprise, spell power stopped buffing spells and creatures (vestals magic attack). Tested it with spell power skills (arcane exaltation/light magic), with artifacts, removing the dynasty weap I was using (heartrending song), tried arcane library/crystal of power.. The hero got the spell power, but it wasn't affecting anything. My bet is it has something to do with the dynasty weapon..

Then I tried a secondary hero and everything was working fine (including the dynasty weapon).

After all this, I finished the map.. now the hero is still bugged in map2 (spell power not working/disabled). I guess the campaing is f*****.. =(

Unfortunately, this only seems to have been recognized after the release of 2.1.1, which fixed the mana cost bug with dynasty weapons. Otherwise it could have been fixed, too, in the patch.

No, leaving most dynasty weapons broken for magic heroes would be very, very, very bad in my opinion.

Leaving the bugs will be very bad, but I must say that this crossed my mind several times. I wonder how they test patches before releasing them? They have plenty of time for testing.

It's a hard choice, but I doubt Ubisoft is willing to put unlimited resources on getting H6 bug-free, they already released 10 patches in the last 18 months...

This should teach Ubisoft a lesson. A very important one if they are willing to make a HVII...

There's no evidence that the new patch created this bug. I believe it existed before the patch but wasn't recognized because the mana cost problem hit players before they noticed a problem with the magic power.

You may be right that this particular bug wasn't introduced now, but there are other examples that show patches introducing bugs. In my case, black screen issue is such a bug. It never occured on my computer before 2.1 patch, and since 2.1 appeared, I got black screens along with it.

Is the pathfinding skill is still bugged?
I tested it and it seems my heroes still suffer from penalty on hard terrain... same for the artifact "saddle of pathfinding" ( the hero's movement is not reduce on hard terrain) don't work...

Oh man.. I'm kind of optimist and patient guy, but I'm about to give up on h6. =/

Funny thing I was playing with the patch 1.8 and decided to update to 2.1.1, because in the 1.8 the celestials/seraphs had wrong versions of their specials.

About the bug with the "magic affinity" in the dynasty weapons, if we are talking about the +5 spell power for 'X' school not working (before patch 2.1), I remember this was an old bug and was fixed, I think.

This time, everything was working at the beginning, but at some point the spell power stopped working for that hero. Not only the +5, but all the other bonuses. It could be something with the save/load with these dynasty weapons like people were reporting.

I did a test on pathfinding and it showed that not only was movement cost not decreased upon selecting pathfinding, it actually INCREASED movement cost through hard terrain.

It's another case of misapplying positive and negative modifiers.

And in the end is there a way to Mod that?
I manage to mod few things in H5 but this game is very bad coded...
Whrer is the modder's community please save us.....

I found a bug in the map editor (version 2.1). I describe it in the Maphaven section :
H6 map editor - bug(s) introduced with version 2.1

Ubituos are fabulous : they are able to introduce bugs even in the parts of the game they don't fix or change.

as of 2.1.0 they are fixed (their resurrection at least i don't know whether there are any other bugs)
