ICTC VII: Retirement Home

Last time I was told my faction had potential, but wasn't detailed enough. See how this suits you.
Thanks go to Elvin for providing me with the basic idea and doing some polishing here and there.



Retirement Home

Background
Back in the day everything was better. The grass was greener, the sky was clearer, the people were more respectful to their elders. Back in the day the day itself was better. But the new generation has no clue about how great the world used to be and therefore is bound to make it worse. Well, it’s a good thing that there still are some sensible people who remember and respect the past. And they will damn sure that those whippersnappers respect it as well, even if they have to beat it into them. Especially if they have to beat it into them. It took a while, but eventually a network of gossiping old men formed all over the world, enabling them to organize and step out into the light… or wheel out as some of them preferred. Coming out of every retirement home in every kingdom the veterans are fighting to bring back the good ole days.

Relationships
Despite some rumors, old people are not racist. They don’t care if you’re a human, an elf or that thing that hides in swamp, if you don’t respect your elders you ought to be set straight. The phenomenon exists even in the ranks of the undead where ancient liches and vampires rise up against the 300 year-old youngsters who believe they know how necromancy should look, without so much as consulting their wiser counterparts.

Society
The Old Folk originally started out as a group of battle-scarred veterans. They believed they didn’t need anyone else to fight the youngsters. However, pretty soon they found out that there are more of them than they anticipated. That only made the vets angrier (rapid reproduction is one of those things they were opposed to and believed to be the cause for the miserable state of things today, along with “technology”). And then help came from the least likely of directions. A special cult of battlemages. These battlemages sought to adapt the old ways to the modern world. For ages the old folk despised them, because the thought of adapting the old ways to the modern world as opposed to adapting the modern world to the old ways seemed repulsive and disrespectful. But desperate times called for desperate measures, and eventually everyone agreed that everyone who tries to bring back the old days in any way possible should work together for the benefit of all. And so the battlemages, whose special ability was to move their immortal souls from one body to another and who were dubbed the Remakers by the vets, and the veterans themselves, who were called the Sequelists by the battlemages, formed what is known now as the Retirement Home faction.
The new faction makers agreed that nothing good can come of all that modern stuff about special racial skills and other trends. Instead they reverted to the good old system that worked for years and years. We know it as the HoMM 3 system.

Units:
There is a very finite number of old people at any given time and they require quite high maintenance, so all the units have very low growth and above average cost.

Standard abilities:
Sequelist – -1 morale to all non-Sequelists in the army, immune to stat reducing effects. (Sequelists always rumble on and on about how good things used to be, even the Remakers can’t take this for too long. Being old veterans, Sequelists’ bodies are used to withstand the weakness that comes with age and aren’t affected by other similar ailments.)
Remaker – -1 morale to all non-Remakers in the army, immune to mind spells. (Remakers always go on and on about how to incorporate the old ways into the new world, this enrages the Sequelists and drives mad everyone else. Being masters of their mind enough to move it from body to body, ensures no outer force can control them)

Tier 1: Boxer

Old but resilient fighter. Not very bright or skilled, his toughness makes him the perfect meat shield for the rest of the Vet faction.
HP: Very high
Damage: Low
Attack: Low
Defense: Moderate
Speed: Very Low
Abilities: Sequelist, Tough skin (hand-to-hand dmg reduced by 10%. stacks with the shield spell)

Tier 1 Upgrade: Champ

The boxer who develop enough fighting skill to survive their first battles become fearsome and relentless champions.
HP: Very high
Damage: Low
Attack: Moderate
Defense: Moderate
Speed: Low
Abilities: Sequelist, Tough Skin, Unlimited Retaliation

Tier 2: A Team

Special forces gone into hiding. Handy-men and masters of disguise.
HP: Low
Damage: Moderate
Attack: Moderate
Defense: High
Speed: Moderate
Abilities: Remaker, Ranged, No Hand-to-Hand Penalty, Disguise (Enemy can’t recognize the unit from afar. Takes only 25% damage from ranged attacks), Engineer (Can rebuild destroyed warmachines from the remaining scraps)

Tier 2 Upgrade: The Team

Those who have mastered the art of disguised well enough to live on, concentrated on creating improvised weaponry in addition to their other skills.
HP: Moderate
Damage: Moderate
Attack: High
Defense: High
Speed: Moderate
Abilities: Remaker, Ranged, No Hand-to-Hand Penalty, Disguise, Engineer, Shrapnel (Ranged attacks explode on impact damaging the surrounding units by 50% of the original attack)

Tier 3: Special Agent

Trained to infiltrate to any facility, these mysterious and nimble fighters are the worst nightmare of any castle defender.
HP: Low
Damage: Moderate
Attack: High
Defense: Moderate
Speed: High
Abilities: Sequelist, No Retaliation, Infiltrator (Can pass through moats and castle walls unhindered)

Tier 3 Upgrade: Secret Agent Man

Exceptional Special Agents receive a promotion and with it access to an assortment of cool weapons and equipment. The most prominent among which is the special rope that enables the agents to drop on their enemies and get right back up.
HP: Low
Damage: High
Attack: Very High
Defense: High
Speed: Very High
Abilities: Sequelist, No Retaliation, Infiltrator, Strike and Return, Saboteur (Can destroy in one hit any part of the wall and gate, not including towers, by means of a melee attack)

Tier 4: Space Cadets

Freshmen of space exploration, these ambitious lads and lassies work hard so that one day they can sail reach that final frontier.
HP: Moderate
Damage: Moderate
Attack: Moderate
Defense: Low
Speed: Low
Abilities: Remaker, Ranged (Blasters), Strategist (only the smartest and the most cunning people who find their enemies’ weak spots survive among the cadets – luck is always positive)

Tier 4 Upgrade: Space Explorers

Fresh out of the academy, these fine men and women are now boldly going forward to where mankind never walked before. (They’re still looking for that reverse button)
HP: Moderate
Damage: High
Attack: Moderate
Defense: Low
Speed: Moderate
Abilities: Remaker, Ranged, Strategist, Beam up (once per battle may teleport any allied unit, including themselves, in the same fashion as the teleport spell with basic mastery)

Tier 5: Retirees

Old special agents, these veterans are brought back from retirement to show the younglings they still have a trick or two up their sleeves.
HP: Moderate
Damage: High
Attack: High
Defense: High
Speed: Low
Abilities: Sequelist, No enemy Retaliation, Seen it all before (Is not affected by enemy creatures’ abilities)

Tier 5 Upgrade: Dead Meat

Labeled as expandable, these veterans have nothing to lose. Equipped with enough arsenal to mow down a small army they charge forward without fear or hesitation.
HP: High
Damage: High
Attack: High
Defense: High
Speed: Moderate
Abilities: Sequelist, No enemy Retaliation, Attack all adjacent creatures, Seen it all before, Making a Statement (+5% Damage for every hex traveled)

Tier 6: Super People

Endowed with superior strength and speed, the Super People are a force to be reckoned with.
HP: High
Damage: High
Attack: High
Defense: High
Speed: High
Abilities: Remaker, Flyer, Super Strength (ignores 50% of enemy’s defense)

Tier 6 Upgrade: Superheroes

Super People who choose to use their powers for the good of others are dubbed Superheroes.

Speed: Very High
Abilities: Remaker, Flyer, Super Strength, Protector (Raises adjacent allied unit’s defense by 25%)

Tier 7: Cowboy Wannabe

Most Americans saw too many movies as children and think they’re John Wayne, Rambo and Marshall Dillon put together. Some of them get their hands on a gun. Few of them know how to use it properly.
HP: Very High
Damage: Moderate
Attack: High
Defense: Moderate
Speed: Moderate
Abilities: Sequelist, Survivalist (Every time a unit in the stack dies, the stack’s Defense doubles for 1 turn)

Tier 7 Upgrade: Crazy Copper

The smart Americans, however, don’t leave things to luck. They were always kinda partial to Roy Rogers and they know they can get both the gun and the training at your local police Academy.
HP: Off the chart
Damage: High
Attack: Very High
Defense: Moderate
Speed: Moderate
Abilities: Sequelist, Survivalist, Yippee Ki Yay(Once per battle Activated Ability – a finishing move that does triple damage, but causes fatigue for 3 turns halving the attack, defense and speed of the stack. The effects of fatigue override the Sequelist immunity to stat reduction.)

Heroes
Just like the troops they command, Oldtimer Heroes divide into two groups: Sequelists – the might heroes and Remakers – the magic heroes.

Campaign Heroes:
Silverstone - Sequelist

Biography: The main protagonist of the Retirement Home campaign. Silverstone was an accomplished warrior, one of the best of his time. But time has passed and he has long retied. One day he got bored and went to see how the world was fairing without him and his old friends. Silverstone was so appalled by what he saw that he quickly gathered his old war buddies and went out of retirement to teach the younglings a lesson.
Specialty: Silverstone increases the Attack and Defense skills of any Retirees or Dead Meat he commands for each level he attains after the 5th level.
Skills: Basic Leadership, Basic Tactics

Tie - Remaker

Biography: A legendary Remaker, Tie is unique for fighting a long time in every body he inhabits, instead of switching body after a battle or two. For this reason he is well respected even among the Sequelists and is dispatched by the Remakers to forge an alliance of all Olditmers.
Specialty: Nullifies the negative morale effect Sequelists and Remakers have on each other.
Skills: Basic Wisdom, Basic Intelligence

Governator - Sequelist

Biography: A former warrior, Governator has retired to enter the political map of the Empire. He soon learned that it is hard for an outsider to gain a seat of power among the nobles and their duchies, so when the oldtimers went to war he gladly came out of retirement to fight beside his war buddies once again.
Specialty: Governator receives a 5% per level bonus to his Diplomacy skill.
Skills: Basic Armorer, Basic Diplomacy

Deep John - Sequelist

Biography: Less powerful than most of his veteran buddies, Deep John relies on his cunning mind and sea expertise.
Specialty: +1 speed to all heroes troops.
Skills: Basic Navigation, Basic Luck

Bates - Remaker

Biography: This mysterious Remaker used more bodies than he can count. He spends most of his time alone in a dark cave, which made his peers suspect that Bates has reduced to studying the occults.
Specialty: Bates increases the Attack and Defense skills of any Super People or Superheroes he commands for each level he attains after the 6th level.
Skills: Basic Wisdom, Basic Mysticism

Hall of Fame
Visiting heroes gain 1000 experience points from the Hall of Fame. This effect is applied only once per hero for each Hall of Fame visited.
Orderly Shack
During a siege, the Orderly Shack increases the Attack and Defense skill of a hero by one each.
Entertainment Room
Attracts more oldtimers.  On Day 1 of each week the Entertainment Room generates 1-2 random Retirement Home creatures provided their dwelling is already built.
Gossip Corner
Teaches visiting heroes any/all of the following basic secondary for 2000 gold per skill: Tactics, First Aid, Intelligence, Learning.
Grail – Wheelchair Workshop
The Retirement Home grail building is the Wheelchair Workshop, which gives you an additional 5000 gold per day, boosts weekly creature growth by +50 percent and increases the movement of all allied heroes.

Since this faction was not judged last time, I'm entering it into the eighth competition instead. This also gives me the opportunity to do some editing of flavor text and fixing the pictures. I can't edit the master post, so until a mod will see his/her way to editing it for me, this is my main entry post.

During a siege, the Orderly Shack increases the Attack and Defense skill of a hero by one each.
Entertainment Room
Attracts more oldtimers.  On Day 1 of each week the Entertainment Room generates 1-2 random Retirement Home creatures provided their dwelling is already built.
Gossip Corner
Teaches visiting heroes any/all of the following basic secondary for 2000 gold per skill: Tactics, First Aid, Intelligence, Learning.
Grail – Wheelchair Workshop
The Retirement Home grail building is the Wheelchair Workshop, which gives you an additional 5000 gold per day, boosts weekly creature growth by +50 percent and increases the movement of all allied heroes.
