Vasmpire Lord is actually not a great card.
You never really wanna go to might 6 with necro.

Firstly, Necromancer Apprentice.
Secondly, Vampire Lord makes sense in a wannabe vampire deck.
Thirdly, where the hell am I supposed to post my DoC adventures, here or in DoC thread?

Post them wherever you want ;-)
I actually love your enthusiasm. It's kind of sweet. :-D
The best would be to ask your questions here. and your adventures in the current expansion topic.

Is the game still worth playing? It become cheaper to play?

I have played this game when it was released and 3 weeks after, all my cards had disappeared from my account because of some unknown bug so I gave up at that time. (I sent many emails to the official site to complain but no replies...)

I also felt that the game was not free at all, you need to pay a lot of money to have fun with all factions.

I'm currently playing Hearthstone which is really free but I like Heroes universe that's why I'm wondering if I should try this game one more time.

Well as in all F2P games it depends on how much time you plan to invest in it.
What is better, is the fact, that now you can get starters of all 6 factions rather easily, just by defeating the faction once in a PvP.
Campaigns give a rather good start with Gold and packs, and recently the feature of getting WC from the Pit (where you burn your unnecessary cards) has been added.
For these WC you can buy any card you want in Alter of Wishes.
It is hard to say if the factions are balanced. You still see more Inferno, Necropolis, Stronghold and Academy then you see Haven and Sanctuary, but all have at least one functional strategy.

As for its stability. The game has some minor issues. And some people can be harsh, but game breaking bugs are scars

I just started a few days ago and have quite a bit a gold from campaign and haven't spent any of it(about 450k). What's the smartest way to start spending it. Should i focus on Base Set 2 first? When's a good time to move into buying expansions and are there any that i should prioritize/better than others? I don't have a strong preference to any faction yet so i can't really say that i'm looking for specific cards yet. Thanks

It is good to get a nice basis of BS2 cards since there are some key Spells and fortunes in it. When it comes to expansions it's best to find know what you are looking for and what you would like to play.

For example If you like to playa stack deck (Inferno, Haven, Necropolis) GriffinS Bane is what to focuse on. If you wan't an elemental sub-type based deck then I would focuse on Sins of Betrayle. Hearth of Nightmares has some generaly good cards. Especialy as rare and epics.

Thanks for the advice.
So i couldn't find any specific info, but judging by the store it looks like this game is on a rotation schedule like Magic the Gathering? Does this mean that when a new expansion comes out then Heart of Nightmares will be next to be cycled out of standard, then BS2 will be replaced with BS3, and so forth?

It is not exactly like MtG. The game has Seasons. Now we are in season II. When season I finished, the cards published in it were used to crerate the 2nd base set, and all the sets in season I moved from Standard to Legacy format. This happened after 4 expansions. If season II/III will work the same, there will be one more expansion, then a Season III reset, with the 4 sets from Season II moving to legacy, and baset III + it's expansions forming the new standard.

I'm going to delve into DoC for the first time today. I technically attempted to try it once before, but I chickened out and deleted it just after installing it. I'm planning to give it more of a shot this time.

I get the feeling I'm probably going to be the "ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK" type with raw power smashing through (given my preferences in what little Yu-Gi-Oh I've played), so I'll probably start out with either Inferno or Stronghold.

Which brings me to my question: aesthetics aside, what's the general difference between Inferno and Stronghold? I know they're both the high damage types, but little else.

Hi, it's been a while since I played but I hope this is still relevant.

On lower levels Inferno has the Glass cannon approach, High attack and low HP on units. Some options on Discard and hand control.

While Stronghold has the meaty approach. Good HP with above average attack

Later Inferno adds indirect ways to deal damage. Creature abilities and other cards that bypass the enemy defense.

Later stronghold goes usually for the "mighty hammer" approach. Boosting it's very strong units with Enrage and Bloodlust, occasionally using this power to clear lines for a single mighty blow.

I for myself think, that in the later games Stronghold is more fun, but Inferno is more efficient. At the beginning Stronghold gives a better back-up, as it is not so fragile, has good spells and specials and can come back easier if in a tight situation.

Decided on starting with Stronghold. Played two test matches with both Inferno and Stronghold, and Inferno didn't click with me as much.

BTW, New Years promotional code good until the end of the month:

WY15-UO9F-5SKW-8GZ2-YA09

Got two premium packs and one regular pack. Lot of "shiny" cards.

Dunno, the Chinese have a new expansion and draft mode, we will get them later, according to dated inside info at the end of January, even.
Took a look at draft, you actually end up with an ok deck.

Do the campaign first and foremost and get the easy rewards. Then use the money to buy decks. You would want to buy only base set 2 until you get all the important cards from that.

Then on actual Sanctuary gameplay, you'll have to way for Poly as I think he was the nr.1 Sanctuary player around here.

Been doing that. Won 2 matches and got some crystals for avatar of wishes. No idea what to pick. Should I wait till I accumulate more for a new hero, or should I pick some troops? I like Irina, seems like she can do light/dark magic as well. So far Lady of Spring/Guard Shark and Kirins look nice.

Other than that, playing with Sanctuary is super hard. Also, should i really keep my deck around 60 cards or can i go above and how much?

Hi Stormcaller, I'm not Poly, but I played Sanctuary a lot. So I think I can hlep.
First - few basic tips. Kirins (all of them) are not that great
Second - Save your Wild cards (Those cristals) for Rare and Epic cards.

Some basic cards for Sanc. are (I'll be talking standard):
Coral Priestess - (Their outmanouver is great)
Mizu Kami - great against magic creatures and most spells
Wamizane - Cheep Attack boost
Kabuki Propagandist - Nothing better to slow your opponent down
If you have enought WCs Try to get Raya, Sibilant Seductress. A must have card imho.

Sanc.  has also very nice spell schools. Dark Allowes controle. Water and Air are cheep dmg schools with some nice tricks later on.
They also have great fortunes and a nice tactic around it
Focus on 2 parts Might+magic, or Might + fortune. But if you want, Sanc. can also create a good All around deck.. I play it myself but it is rather costly on the cards.

Nice combos are
Broaken Bridge + Creature with fortune ward
Battle trance + Altar of wishes (Any card in deck for 4 points)

Poly will give you much better tips.

Alright, thanks for the tips. Altho i dont have most of these cards you mentioned and cant get them unless i use a wildcard in altar of wishes? i dont get these in standard 2 packs.

So not sure how am i supposed to save for epic cards when i need these first...
