Same bug with freeze here but the issue was about Intimidation skill. This skill makes your elementals immunite to core enemy units which AI starts battle (or if you use champons, then they are immune to core AND elite). As AI doesn't know what to do against this skill, game freeze.So one of the best skills is unplayable in campaign, nice work Ubi. 
There are also plenty (a legion? ) of not working scripts in campaigns too - sometimes they work only in next turn, instead of after you complete quest objectives, and sometimes you need load game. This kind of bugs is very frustrating and take away any fun from game.

I've actually used intimidation without encountering a freeze. But yeeah..

Well I still have the problem,that I can't play the dungeon campaign,the game crashes when I try to do it(probably because it can't play the intro sequence for some reason,the game also crashes when it tries to start the intro sequence at the beginning)
I didn't really have time in the last weeks to try to work around this.

when playing dungeon with stalkers versus dreamweavers, the first are freezing just before their turn comes; this is happening all the time, the only condition is stalkers are fighting barbs creature: dreamweavers.
I checked that over 1o times in different games.

Ok, here is my problem. My girlfriend loves dark elves so I thought I'd download Shades before she comes visit me for christmas. I used my cousin's mastercard and bought Shades for 9,99 (special offer). Game appeared nowhere.
I've red on the internet that many had such problems and the common suggestion was to uninstall the game, than install the game again, let it update to v1.8, then go to "unlock content" and insert the CD Key they gave me when my cousin paid. I did so, and it did recognize the Key. Still no campaign nowhere ever, no Dark Elves, no ANYTHING.
Then another tip was to update the game with the 2.1 patch, I'm trying to download but it says it may take 2-3 hours to complete. At the end of which, I'm still NOT SURE if I will finally be able to play them.
WHAT THE HELL.
I've supported this game until now despite everything, but geez. This is outrageous.
Will I ever be able to access the content in the end?

I think you have to complete the prologue to unlock the other campaigns. Other than the campaign, you should be able to create a dark elf hero so as to play dungeon in a normal map. Or buy some from the altar of wishes.

I've already completed the prologue, Sandor's, Anatasya's and Kiril's campaigns. I don't think it has nothing to do with that.

Well, first off, at the moment I'm having trouble playing in general. Because uninstalling and re-installing HOMM6 went back to v1.8 and I tried downloading patch 2.1 from the official site three times, the download takes forever and just cannot finish it properly. It keep saying my files is corrupt.
In other words I bought Shades and as a reward I cannot play Shades nor the original game
That said yes, I'm playing online, but I would have no objections to play it offline. So that fix should be fine for me. Please do tell.
Sadly if I don't find a way to download the patch 2.1 again I don't know how to play at all, online or offline, because it crashes and glitches frequently.

I could download patches from official site with no problem. However, there is an alternate site with patches called patches-scrolls that should have their own mirrors for downloading. You can try downloading from there.

Argh, I cannot find it. Seems I've deleted the page from my bookmarks, sorry  Have you tried to fully delete the game directory after uninstalling? Is it possible that you still have installed the game's demo or beta? If so, clean up their directories too. I'd use internet download manager for the download, it's pretty fast and can resume in case of interrupted downloads.
It is sad to hear you have such problems, hope you manage to fix it

Ok, problem solved. Apparently patch 2.1 fixes this, even if you entered the key at the 1.8 stage. Downloading the patch with a wireless connection wasn't working too well.
I gotta say, it took a significant effort for Ubisoft to kill the reputation of such an interesting, beautiful and entertaining game. It's amazing, considering they didn't do it on purpose.

I never felt there were as many design mistakes as people said they were, some aspects were controversial but still the game in itself is pretty good. I think the main problems I have with the game are all bound to the fact that the product feels unpolished (tons of bugs), unfinished (no town screens for totally arbitrary reasons)and uncompleted(three factions that were clearly designed and constantly hinted but then never made).
I strongly suspect that all these factors have as a common trait Ubi's eagerness to launch the game and addons as soon as possible.

No town screens was plain stupid, a pity it took so long to implement them. But you cannot complain about hinted factions, all artwork and lore existed before anything was decided. Perhaps before H6 even started. There is a long history of Ashan development that we have never seen and that is why the Ashan compedium was published. A race may appear in a game or not - whether that is H7, MMX or other - but it still has to acknowledge its presence in the setting or reasons for its absence. I believe that shades of darkness takes part 100 years after H6 because the timeskip does not require a sylvan faction to tell its story. I could be mistaken of course.

Single player scenario, Town conversions
This is not a bug so much as I do not think this is what was intended.
I noticed that you cannot convert a town back to its original form after the AI has converted it upon a loss. This seems to be a rather illogical and overlooked aspect of the game considering the AI automatically knows where your towns are and when they are not occupied even if they have not explored the area; Much like in all previous versions of HOMM. It's weird to me that no one else has seemed to discuss this in the forum,(at least not that I have found) I suppose that is due to the amount of critical issues the game has had up until now.
Nevertheless, I feel it should be addressed and corrected as I'm certain the developers did not intend for this to be so unbalanced favoring the AI over all human players, even on the simplest difficulty settings.
After 72 hours of game play, I have yet to win a single scenario and I've played every HOMM game since Heroes II was published in 1996!
It is futile to play something like this as an online multiplayer because of hackers and 3rd party software, there is at least a 50% probability that your opponent is cheating anyway, so there is truly no point. You have better odds facing the unbalanced AI!
