I believe in the technology of peace.

Peace through power!

Control is the means to a stable society. In the future, nothing will be without any surveilance and with surveilance, crime, inequality will disappear.

We see it happening today, NSA spying, goverment spying and so on, cameras in the roads, data mining...etc etc.

Humans need to be controled and with the advancement of technology, people will be forced in line.
Communist states had a very low number of petty crimes but they were affected by corruption. In order to remove corruption, those people have to be under constant surveliance.

IMHO, politicians and all those in charge should trade in their privacy for such power. Only then will we achieve a society free of the wretchedsness that is corruption and crime.

People may resist, but in order for crime to go away, personal privacy must also go away Dont like it?

Murder is against christianity right?

Does that mean that every Iron Guard hitman is burning in hellfire for eternity right now?

Do you agree with the Iron Guard that jews must be murdered?

I strongly believe that the future will be like that and everything will be under surveilance. In order for the greater good to be unfold for everybody, nearly everybody must give up something for a better life.

I think its already happening and its only going to get more apparent.

If we give our freedom for security,we will lose both.
I have read "1984" and know how such society would work.
Would be nightmare,in comparison with which communism and fascism would seem like a kindergarden play.

What's wrong with SURVEILLANCE?

I mean, surveillance is only bad when you have disadvantages due to MORAL stuff. You're gay, you do this ot that, which isn't illegal, but will still do you no good.

So SURVEILLAMCE will be great, once the öaw will be ok - which of course it's not. As long as things like smoking pot are illegal - forget it.

Because nobody would dare to break the laws if under surveilance and if they do, it would be easy to know who did what.
Take the internet for example, anonymity causes a lot of problems in forums, people can easily pirate and so on and so forth. Now imagine if people were to be under surveilance and would login with their legal names. Suddenly, people would behave and maybe stop their illegal behaviors.  If they were not, it would be easy to know who did what.

The problem is that suveilance is unrealistic considering the way how our world currently works, but we are getting there, slowly and steadily.

Greater Good= Utilitarianism
Utilitarianism

It is for the greater good of everybody if crime and corruption goes away and I dont believe in the idea of maintaining freedom and expecting people to behave.

Well, we don't, actually.

As I said, the law must be perfect, otherwise - forget surveillance.

Now, the law isn't nowhere near perfect, so forget it.

There is a rather large difference between having a good information archive, and permanently using it for no reason.
Just as there is a large difference between having a large and active security force thats responsive, and the security force doing whatever it pleases between the mandatory jobs.

Do you need privacy only when you do illegal or shameful stuff? How bout making love to your wife, walking around the house naked on a hot day, taking a piss etc etc... Even cats and dogs want to be left alone sometimes.

Seraphim:
If anonymity in forums went away, a lot of people (myself included) would stop posting. Nothing I post at HC is illegal, but I still wouldn't want just anyone to be able to see it and connect it to me. Privacy and anonymity are great things. People value privacy - being watched makes them uncomfortable. It could even be said that civilization itself is a progress of society towards privacy.

As for utilitarianism, it's a fundamentally flawed system because there is no objective way of weighing people's utilities.
