No, not at all. Depends on the flat, where it is, what amenities there are and so on.

I never minded living with roommates until I had my own place. Now roommates are out of the question. Once you go black you never go back... or something like that. So I can understand the sentiment.
If it's really important to you then I'd explore apartment options 45+ minutes outside of wherever you're working (I'm assuming it's an urbanish area) to find much cheaper rent and then take the train and then find some book series/papers/magazines to get hooked on. If that still isn't sufficient to balance your budget, then you're pretty much ****ed. Supplement your income by selling heroine to minors. I dunno.
