I think evolution is true, just that I also think it had a purpose.

I'm 19 and I barely know biology. We're not on the same level.

The author himself disagrees with you

Well, natural selection is blind and mindless (not sure about purposeless though). There are no laws of evolution, it just goes on like it is. So it's rather a disagreement with creationism or even theistic evolution - it's a pure luck that we are what we are.

He does not use blind in the sense you do, you claim evolution without God is a totally random (as in chaotic) process, what he means is it has no design, or purpose or premeditated plan. This had already been mentioned in threads you were existent, I suggest using the magical power of literacy.

I don't call you names but it's very true that I'm getting fed up with your trolling, the things you talked about in the beginning had nothing to do with evolution being theistic or not, they were senseless spam. And to be ignorant on a subject is not a crime but to persist on your ignorance is just childish and annoying.

I suggest you cut down on the sarcasm, it's getting old and repetitive. Much like our discussions. It's obvious you'll never see my point of view as valid.

Mindless is mindless. It has the same meaning. This is my final post on this issue. Arguing with you is same as arguing over Messi or Maradona being the best footballer.

I often hear that evolution is random. How is that compatible with natural selection? Obviously, a species doesn't "choose" to adapt. But since natural selection would make evolution reactive, wouldn't that disprove the view that it is random?

Random may mean purposeless, without a design, in that case it is random. Random may mean without any pattern or dynamic, chaotic, in that case it is not.

I was taught during my environmental science studies that change happens, the creature that adapts to the changes in the habitat (regardless of how small the change is) then goes on to pass this improvement unto offspring. Something along those lines anyway.

Saying evolution is not true is like saying a child does not inherit any traits at all from their parents or that different dogs breed do not have a common dog/wolf ancestor.

That cute song that Elodin posted recently implies that the son is in fact like his father. "Like father, like son"

is that evolution?

what about that story of bees getting massively killed, apparently by the products of some laboratories?

is that a normal process of natural selection?

Breeding different dogs or farm animals intentionally is called artificial Selection. It is of course an evolutionary process but since it's planned, it's not called natural selection.

The bee thing depends on your opinion. Some say since we and our intelligence is a result of evolution, the technology and the change that comes with it is also part of natural selection.  Others say, this is no more nature, it's the destruction of it and measurements should be taken more seriously.

Holy snow, someone actually gets it!

Fun fact - many studies have shown that while many people object (on the grounds that it's not natural) molecular-level manipulation of genomes, the same people have no problem with so-called natural breeding processes, even though the endpoints are the same.

I would call it Man's natural process of destruction on his way to bettering selection.

Nature is a complex system and it amazes me how man can easily throw the thing into a collapse, even with some his best bio-brains at work.

That Bee-thing was no small error, maybe in the lab but not in the farmers fields. Then toss in the African-Bee fiasco and there seems to be a missing mindset of extreme caution still present in "research".

Btw, if anyone is growing some tomatoes My Father's trick was use 1 cotton swab and do the cross-pollination on the flowers yourself.
