Maybe I'm just sad that GoT's biggest villain lately have been Ramsey. A character I absolutely hate, not because he is mean and cruel, but because he is extremely one-dimensional and his evilness are just a cheap way to produce shock value. He's a minor villain that has been given way too much screen time for far too long. In my honest opinion Ramsey Bolton is as interesting as a brick, and has the character development of a potato. Even his goddamn death was a cliche fan service

I totally agree, seriously Ramsey should've died in that scene instead of Roose Bolton, Roose even set it up perfectly, he spent the entire conversation telling Ramsey that he's a mad dog n **** and even hinted that he's replaceable. Then the herald comes in with the news that Roose has a boy! THAT WAS THE DINNER BELL ROOSE, then Roose says dw you're still my first born, that was to put him at ease right before the kill. I could've understood a struggle, but even an idiot could've seen that it was a kill or be killed situation. Roose had depth, he was devious and cunning, but in a prudent way would've been so good to see more of him, and would've made a more 'human' villain (if you could even call him that).

I think Ramsey was pretty interesting. I hated him with all my heart for his cruelty but I wonder who is gonna be the next 'bad guy'.

What I love about the show is that characters develop often. Take Jaime for instance, uber uber douche early in the series, becomes a man of honour and then a bitter lonely man. Now, that takes class!

I thought Jaime was always secretly honourable, and he just did not see the point in acting it.

Well, I never said he was not an a$$.

Just, you know, he was honourable somewhere inside. He seems to me that he did have ideals and then from what he experienced lost the desire to care about them.

Indeed, Roose was in many ways a much more interesting character than Ramsey. He was also a lot smarter and competent which in my eyes made him a very compelling enemy. If they wanted shock value, Ramsay's demise at the hand of his father would have been amazing.
A final note before I stop my Ramsay-bashing, what made Ramsay somewhat fascinating as a character was his relationship with his father. It was only around him that he showed any real emotions, but with him gone Ramsey ceased to be human.

Being honourable requires thinking about it.

Thinking requires blood in the brain.

In that moment clearly he was clouded by having his blood concentrated in one "place".

The last episode was really well made, the scenes were amazingly shot, the sound was top notch and Jon and his gang were badass.
But in the end I found that the entire episode's writing left A LOT to be desired, and this goes for the whole of season 6 as well as season 5.
I don't want to be too critical but I feel like what used to make GoT truly great was that it stayed away from cliches, fan service, one-dimensional characters and bad shock value.
This last season has been filled with them, in my opinion.

Even his goddamn death was a cliche fan service.

It's not too critical, on the contrary, it's right on spot. Lately, the show is turning into too much of a battle between likeable anti-heroes and villains anybody would love to hate. What made GoT better than a typical medieval fantasy was the "reelpolitik" touch, the conflicts were between forces that we could relate to equally, or at least something close to that. Joffrey was the exception but he didn't represent the Lannisters as a whole, he was more like this maniac, the Lannisters would also cross off if he wasn't family.

I guess, TV as a platform still has its limits when you expect the audience to concentrate on a weekly basis without identifying and picking sides. So, they had to nerf the approach what made the show unique in the first place.

Imo G Martin doesn't care much about limits -he already proved it, but is under real life common sense pressure.

An actor has to take care of his career, he can't just sign for 1-6 seasons and decline all other offers, only to find himself being killed in the script 3 days later, without any compensation. This is non sense, from a practical view.

Never noticed this thread before...

That last episode was pretty good. Great action scenes but I really hated that talk between Denyares and Yara. Like we get it, you both are super proud chicks who wanna rule, get on with the show. And did Sansa just keep it to herself about the Knights of the Vale or wtf was that about? I hope they explain that.

I never liked Ramsey either, honestly never expected him to live as long as he did. Maybe I'm not a fan of the whole sinister madman who smiles and jokes around as he does crazy stuff. I just thought the show wasn't like that. It was good in the beginning when he was tricking Theon and messing with his head but it was overplayed.

I'm hoping to see another awesome flashback with the finale, some closure on the tower of joy scene. Really wanna see Robert Baratheon in his youth too. And one Bron fight scene please? I feel like he might die next episode. They need to kill some people off.

that was the point, i think. the only thing human about ramsey was his need for his father's acceptance. once that was no longer an option for him, he only had the rest of himself left. ramsey came across to me as a very real person; especially if you were to consider that GoT is set in medieval times. more than one "ramsey" has existed throughout history. all you need, is power to fall into the wrong hands, and walah: instant atrocity.

compare the sociopath "dexter" to ramsey's version of one. if dexter hadn't had his father's support, he would have been just like ramsey.

I haven't checked this out myself, so feel free to investigate it but as far as I know, G Martin is not the one who's directly writing the script of the TV show anymore, he's more like the "confirmer" on top of a writer team, who has the last word on things. You can think of him more like the guy with the baton now, rather than the violin. I don't mean this in a "the conductor does nothing, he just swings a stick" kind of ignorance but it's still not the same as writing it yourself.

Sansa had sent a raven when she urged Jon to search more reinforcements. I already guessed it would go to the vale. I wondr what the price is littlefinger asks though....he's becoming much of a powerful sellsword

I think that Littlefinger wants to marry Sansa, but will he propose now or wait? And if he waits, what will he do now?

Ramsey has felt more like a comicbook villain than a GoT villain.

I also want closure, hopefully Tower of Joy will be the last they show before the season ends.

It was kinda strange though why she's being so secretive. She lied to Jon the first time about learning what she did from little finger (can't remember what it was atm) and again she doesn't mention him. Twice can't be a coincidence right?

And am I missing something here....Sansa took off early during their little meeting of the generals or whatever. She wasn't there when Ramsey told them about how his dogs haven't been fed in 7 days and they're starving lol. And wtf was stopping the starving dog from walking out of the cage as soon as Ramsey was brought in?? The gate was opened but I guess the dog was waiting for an introduction first.

the dogs always wait for a signal before attack. this time, they read the script and knew when to come out for dramatic effect.
