I have not tried that service but have played Battlestar Galatica.  I haven't played it in a long time and it does not appear I will be doing so anytime soon after our last session.

Briefly, my buddy owns the game.  He misdealt the loyalty cards and discovered that he was missing a loyalty card about half-way into the game.  He went to "randomly" draw a card.  He ended up getting a Cylon.  When the Cylons were winning.

I called shenanigans.  He said he legitimately pulled the card.  We argued back and forth about it until his wife (who was going through a very bad time due to the loss of a family member) blew up and yelled at us to all shut up.  We were all shocked.  His wife is quite low-key and I had never heard her yell before that.  She stormed off leaving us all agape.  We put the game away and that was the last time we played it.

About a year later, the game was brought up.  My friend admitted that he deliberately took the Cylon card.

I was vindicated.

Unfortunately board games in my house are all for kids but that will change after few years

Last good board game I played was Ticket to Ride Europe:

Interesting game whit tactical side, you can mess up others plans. Drawing lot of cards seems broken but alert co-op game could probably counter that.

Playing pen and paper game whit patfinder setup, I'm loving it, don't know is that considered a board tough

I played an exciting game of Ticket to Ride today, it ended in a draw between me and my brother, with our friend finding himself somewhat defeated.

It's best to play with four players though, it adds a lot more of pressure to build on key routes first, compared to a 3-players' game.

By the way, me and a couple of my friends bought the Tabletop Simulator on steam for 7.5$ each. I have to say that we don't use it nearly as much as we thought we would, but it's still a great tool to try out a game before you decide to actually buy it. It would also make that Arkham Horror we played here much more organized. We tried it again on the simulator with 3 players and very nearly won. Azatoth woke up 1 turn before we sealed the last gate needed to win.

I was just thinking about the Arkham Horror game I ran awhile back.  It was certainly interesting.

As to Tabletop Simulator, I think it is a neat idea but I don't have much of an interest in it from a board gaming POV.  I enjoy playing with people at the table.

By the Old Gods, how do you even find the time to play all those games... are you working in a themathic shop or sth?

Can I ask you for some opinions (if possible) on Blood Rage and/or Kingdom Death: Monster. Did you try/know these games?

Also I'm keeping my eyes on Scythe.

But truth is nowadays I don't play board games that much and I'll probably won't buy anymore for now...

I game about once a week.  I would like to do so more but unfortunately, most schedules do not cooperate with mine.  Board gaming is currently my main hobby and when I get into hobbies, I tend to jump right into them.  Fortunately, I have several friends I can play with.

As to Blood Rage and Kingdom Death: Monster, I have not tried either.  Blood Rage is all the rage these days.  I heard it is akin to Chaos in the Old World and Cthulhu Wars, so I did not pick it up.  It is extremely popular though, lauded for its marriage of Ameritrash theme and Euro mechanics.

As to Kingdom Death: Monster, I don't hear much about it at all.  I know it has interesting, adult miniatures and that is about it.

Regarding Scythe, I backed it day 1 at the highest level.  I adore the artwork, theme, and the game play seemed very interesting.  I am hoping it can live up to the ridiculous hype.

I feel your pain. BSG is very competitive (and cooperative at the same time) game. It is not for everyone and the coach needs to have cutting edge skills to make an "OK" or "GOOD" first game. A quality one needs to have why teaching rules is selflessness so you can show the other people they have a chance of actually winning. After 1 or 2 games people become familiar with the mechanics and start to enjoy it but the first games are real disaster sometimes.

@SAG TS is great (though never played it). TI looks promising too.
May be we can set up something.

And now for something a little different.

Cockroach Poker
Age: 8+
Playtime: 20 Min
Players: 2-6
Price: About $11 on Amazon.com.

In short

A small, fun filler game all about bluffing.

In long

Cockroach Poker is a small card game built solely around the idea of bluffing.  If you do not like bluffing, this will not be the game for you.  But if you are looking for a fun filler game, read on.

The game is very small, consisting of eight suits of eight different critters: bats, rats, scorpions, cockroaches, stinkbugs, flies, spiders, and frogs.

The goal of the game is to not be the first person to have four of the same suit in front of them OR be out out of cards.

At the start of the game, the entire deck is dealt out as evenly as possible to the players.  Play is very straight forward.  On your turn, you will take a card from your hand, pick a player, and then state what the card is.  For example, I take a card, and pass it face down to X stating "this is a rat."

X will then have a couple of options:

1) He can believe me.
2) He can say I'm lying.
3) He can say he is going to pass, look at the card, and then pass it to another player saying "this is Y".

If the card recipient states he believes me, one of two things will happen.  If I am telling the truth and he believes me, then the card is flipped over and I get the card.  Alternatively, if he believes me and I am lying, the recipient gets the card.

If the card recipient states that I am lying, again, one of two things will happen.  If I am lying and he calls me out on it, then the card is flipped, and it goes in front of me.  Conversely, if he states I am lying and I am not, then the card is flipped and it is placed in front of the recipient.

Lastly, a player can pass.  They then look at the card and choose a different recipient.  They will state what the card is and it will be up to the new recipient to call them out on it.  They have the option of passing as well.  A recipient can only pass if there is a player who has not already passed.  If there is not, they have to believe or deny.

The last person to get stuck with a card leads off the next turn.  The game continues until either one person loses all of their cards or has 4 of the same suit in front of them.  At that point, that player is the loser and everyone else wins.

What you don't want in front of you.  Image courtesy of Marsh.

So what do I think of it?

I greatly enjoy Cockroach Poker.  It's light, quick, and can be a riot with the right crowd.  It all boils down to who can out-bluff who.  It's not a deep game by any means and should certainly not be a main event but it is still a lot of fun.  It is even better playing with people who think they are good at bluffing or have horrible tells.  I have one buddy, who despite his best efforts, went ramrod straight when trying to bluff.  It was hilarious to watch him acquire card after card.  Be forewarned, though, that as soon as one player gets two of the same set, blood enters the water and people keep feeding him or her more cards.

If you enjoy bluffing and light filler games, I highly recommend Cockroach Poker.  If you do not enjoy bluffing at all, avoid the game at all costs.

In conclusion
If you are looking for a fun filler game all about bluffing, Cockroach Poker would make an excellent addition to your collection.

Bought King of Tokyo and imidiately after the Power Up! Expansion. The game is a blast. I promised myself that I wouldn't buy board games anymore (at least for now), but had this one time weakness and decided to buy it (wanted it for a long time now and since it's pretty much out of stock here I didn't want to miss my chance to get it).

I don't know how long it will take until we get bored (that's my only concern with it), but it's probably the first game that I can enjoy with my brother and his wife to the fullest (their various duties kept them from playing longer games like Talisman). All thanks to it's easy-to-pick-up-an-play formula. We are so enamored with it that I'll probably buy King of New York when it premieres in my country (May). From what I know a Power Up! expansion for this one will follow in August. What's nice is that you can mix characters from both of them.

If you want an exciting, fast and pretty much cutthroat-ish family game I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

A great pick.  If you ever tire of it, you may want to get King of New York.  Check out my review earlier in the thread for more thoughts on it.  A Power Up! expansion is going to be released soon for it as well, so I am psyched about that.

For those curious, I got my birthday haul early this year:

Letter Tycoon is a word game where you can earn revenue from holding stock in letters or get special powers from owning certain letters.

Through the Ages is a heavy civilization building game where you take a civilization from Antiquity to the Modern Era.

Dark Moon is deduction game where there are teams of infected and uninfected.  The infected are trying to sabotage the uninfected and the uninfected are trying to survive.  You know which team you are on but do not know who the other players are.  It's similar to BSG but allegedly plays in 1/2 to 1/3 of the time (which is a HUGE plus for me).

Steampunk Rallyis a racing game where famous inventors pit their fantastic contraptions against one another.

Flick 'em Up is a dexterity game where you are flicking wooden pieces at enemy cowboys or the sheriff in a spaghetti western-esque setting.

Just because I can't tell it often enough: Through the Ages is my personal best Grand Strategy game ever. It's just awesome beyond belief, because it's so smooth and at the same time deep and never the same game twice.

It's even a blast with 2 players.

Anyway, first game, realistically, 6 hours with 4 people; subtract an hour for each player less.

And don't bother with the simple game. Go for the throat immediately.

I have been craving a meaty civ-builder for awhile and Through the Ages seemed to fit the bill.

I know its length is comparable to Mage Knight, so I will most-likely only play it with 3 players at the max.  My goal is to try it out this weekend with the 2 guys I played Mage Knight with.  The only bummer with a game like this (and Mage Knight) is that given the length and perceived complexity, most members of my game group will be turned-off to it.  But that is there loss.

Well, the kicker is - it's SIMPLE TO PLAY!!!

That's the great thing about it. You have the revised 2015 version which made a couple of things clearer (and rebalanced some things), yet, and the game is so awesomely smooth to play, once it clicks what you are actually doing.

From what I read of the rules, it didn't seem overly complicated.  Again though, I think the time is the big turn-off.  They do not mind longer co-op games like Eldritch Horror but anything pushing an hour is almost too much for some competitive games.

I still plan to have a good time with it.  I am trying to get a game going this Sunday.
