Back to the Garden
This is the 50th anniversary compilation of Woodstock.
38 CD set.
Everything ever recorded at or nearby the festival legitimately, during Woodstock, are in this set.
The quality is just outstanding, btw.
I say enjoy!

Wrong thread as well, bro?

Or do you want to discuss the Beatles, the song or this early example of a music video?

In any case, listening to that song shortly before the visit of your girlfriend might be a bad omen...

Eheheh, I guess the song crossed my mind because of that. But I was so drunk last night I dont even remember mistaking here for the song thread. I guess it seemed easier to post it here since it was already in the main page, havent been drinking like that for quite a while.

Usually, the last phase of my drinking, the real drunk phase is putting on earphones and bury myself in music on the internet.

I've been taking a Summer break from the H4 Chronicles, which will conclude, hopefully, by this Winter, if and when the team takes me back from such a long hiatus.
But in the meantime, I have been uploading all the 33 1/3's and Cassette tapes I have into MP3's over on Internet Archives. I didn't buy any of the music that I uploaded and most of it was destined for the second hand store or the recycling center. (In fact, after I converted some units, the owners didn't even want them back.) The music is nothing you would find that's popular today or even 2 decades ago. It just real old, old music.
The music on this site is mostly Bluegrass, Bluegrass Gospel, Old Southern Gospel and Old Country & Western music. Some albums are from the 50's (Stanley Brothers and a few others) and quite a few are from the 60's. I've uploaded close to 700 units already.
You can either listen to a song or songs from an album, or download the album. All files are zipped, so no chance of viruses like other sites. It's completely legal to download anything you want, as the sorting of legal and illegal music is taken care of from the Internet Archives side of things, not the uploader or downloader.

So, for something different for your cultural pleasure, here you go:

https://archive.org/details/@basinboy?sort=-publicdate

It's worth it just to take a look at what people will listen to if nothing else. Who knows. You may find something you like there.

Kinda where I was going with it, Artu. Computers have created original visual art and musical composition already. We can surely teach AI to play music with "feeling". Easier for Bach and Chopin but I dont see why it wouldn't be possible, particular with machine learning methods. Does that make it is any less artistic? I mean we can obviously teach a kid to hit the right notes as much as we can teach a computer, and I question whether a kid her age really plays with emotion or just is thought to simulate it. That's no different functionally than what an AI could do. And probably with much less effort. From there it's only a hair away from replacing adult performers too. If a listener closes their eyes and cant tell the difference, does it matter who or what is playing?

Well, we are actually getting there faster. But giving it some more thought... We *already* replaced performers with recordings, yet performers did not die. For some reason I am not very concerned about that, AI will just become a powerful tool to the composer. Musician is among the oldest jobs in mankind after all...

Maria Joao Pires at 80 years old...

It amazes me how good genetics or/and smart training can slow our aging, both mental and physical. Not only she doesn't make a single mistake, but she also chooses a repertory where a perfect control is required, then there is everything, warm colors, poetry, delicacy, firmness, mesmerizing touch, a true miracle at an age where everybody else forgot what he ate at breakfast. Hats down.

Which reminds me, I was going to ask your opinion on this. Opera is the portion of classical music I’m least interested in, but I stiil wonder if she’s just being conservative or does she have a valid point?

I have no clue what is she talking about, opera singer area is quite unique and specific, but also the beacon of narcissists. I went to her website and tried to get who she is and what she is able to sing, I found nothing. There is ONE video where she shows the goods, but that is night-pub level, not opera.

A non opera singer claiming to hold the secret of opera singing traditions, why not, is YouTube, after all. She sounds passionate though, so there is certainly something to learn.

Greatest classical pianists... Like the link actually says.

There's actually quite a few I don't know from that list.
