Heros Of Migh and Magic 3

Im new to this game and need tips for heros of might and magic 3.  If u have any please reply.  So far my favorite units are arch angels and Goldendragons.  I also think the castle is good for beginers like me to get started.  Wit the archers, pikeman, Griffins these all seem good beginer creatures.  Also if u have any help on using the Dugeon help me out

Just remember a few things;

Even though everyone will tell you otherwise;

There is no best town, best hero, etc.

It's all situational.

It's really a matter of pulling several things together better than your opponent does.

There is nothing useless in the game. Only things that seem useless at the time because we have not found a way to exploit them.

And if you get beat by something that seems like it's unstoppable, try to ask yourself what you could do to stop it next time instead of making special rules to make up for skills you have yet to learn.

Anyone can acheive a high rank through many means but true mastery of the game means using anything and everything at one's disposal, and it is ALL useful.

Or so I've heard. I suck.

Listen

You have no potential. You are lost. Look if you can't play with dungeon you might as well give up. I'm saying that they are not the greatest, but if a biginer can't play with them he has hardly any potential. Also if you are a biginer you should try playing with Necropolis.

What is this message board for, if not the sharing of ideas and helping each other with things we don't understand?
That last reply was very sad...
I think a good idea for you GoldenDragon would be to play all of the castles and get a feel for each of their strengths and weaknesses, and when you're playing others ask questions! Save your game often and then review the saves after to see how your opponant chose to play ,this is often a great way to learn  also, when you're saving, try to do so on your turn, the game has been known to taint the saves if done during your opponants turn, so what you see might be very confusing!

Good Luck, and have Fun!

play allied games if you can...usually with an ally who better than you if you are in it for tips. seein them in action will teach you a great amount. and if u got the time, you will probably find you enjoy them a lot. esp since there are quite a few steady allied players who are great to play with.

Uhh yeah JB, prolly the best advice to give

But if ur a brand new beginner, and havent played the game before, its prolly a good start to play some of the campaigns, maybe reading in the rulebook

If u aint that green JB`s advice is prolly the best u can get, but remember to tell the people u play with, that ur a beginner. Alot of people will then tell u all sorts of advice for free, while u play. Great way to learn, and at the same time u will find that the same people who give u advice is some of the finest people ull find in all cyberspace
Some of the people I played when I was a newbie is still the same people i seek out when im looking for a game, coz I know they are dependable and great sports. U all know who u are

sirdunco... You seriously need to change your attitude, he said that he was new ...you probably played only one game with him..and since he cant play well with dungeon you think hes a lost cause? Hardly. 60% of people play badly comparitively to single player and multiplayer, esp in their first online games. ive heard of constructive critism but you are just plain harsh. You could actually...you know... "help" him.

P.S. Remind me never to play you.

I totally agree with Mocara, there is no bad town, there are only advantages and weaknesses of towns. You try to learn these, and when you do, try to use the advantages and force the oponent on the weak side of their town. Lets say, chaos hydras are not so good in stats like gold dragons or so, but they have specialities, no enemy retaliation and attacks all adjectant enemies, these creatures could be devastating.
And to SirDunco, instead of criticising him, well... try to help. Remember QUOD CAPITA TOD SENTENTIE, I think you understand this (number of ideas=number of heads, persons), so give an idea pls.

Dungeon tips

Here's a few for you.

Use your ranged creatures to their best advantage. Upgrade the harpy loft as soon as you can and build your pillar of eyes and chapel. This will give you an advantage early on and allow you to get through the wandering monsters without losing too many troops.

Casting haste on your harpies gives you awesome range.

your beholders and medusa queens are by far your best weapon to decimate the enemy before they close in for melee. Protect them, because your ranged creatures give you the advantage of waiting for the enemy to come to you.

Be very careful of the blind spell. This can ruin a good battle plan.

Your mintotaurs are one of your best melee units, if you strike with them at the right moment. they are fairly slow though, but they will be in battle for a long time.

Your manticores are fairly weak level 6 units, no match for naga queens and unicorns. use them to strike at exposed, vulnerable units. Using shield and bless on your manticores is a good idea, if they get stuck in the thick of things.

The dragons are swift creatures, I find that they are outgunned by more powerful level 7s, but they have a great advantage in not being vulnerable to spells, especially the blacks. Hold your dragons back and try to avoid pitting them against equal stacks of level 7s. For example, I would never put a 10 blacks against 10 archs, because your blacks wouldn't last very long, I think.

There are a few tips for using dungeon. Note that you have a heavy reliance on sulphur, so characters like Sephinroth are useless to you. There are a few good resurrection/meteor shower/logistics heroes to be used, but some players have rules against this sort of thing, so learn how to play with a random hero.

By the way, guys, it's really nice to know that it's taken 13 posts for someone to tell him what he really wants to know

You got this all wrong. This GoldenDragon has the game for about a month and he still thinks he can beat me, who has been playing for year. It is just a way of telling him that weaklings should not provocate the experienced ones. I'm telling you that he can't play the game. If you wan't to see for your self then join his Heroes 3 chalange and you will learn what I allready know. Still I will not change my additute until he accepts that I am better and more experienced.

Help for GoldenDragon

As I allready said the perfect castle for a beginner is Nacro. It gives you alot of advantages and lets you learn the steps very quickly. Then don't get used to playing them because you won't stop. Once you get more experience then you should try something like Tower or Inferno. For advanced people it would be good to use them. Then when you play with them be careful to not spend all your money quickly and keep up with the others. Then when you got that you can play with anything. Personally I recomend Rampart or Conflux in AB)
