Map editor - I feel ike an idiot!

Hi everybody!

Finally got HOMM5 and have tried some campaign and custom scenarios. But I just miss the old style with these independent maps with no greater "mening" - chose your factions, same conditions as your opponents and play.

I find it rather annoying only to be able to play these storyline-follow-ups to the campaign, where you and the opponent stand with different conditions from the beginning. Does it make sense?

Anyways, long story short: Therefore I am already fighting with the editor and I suspect there's something wrong with it... And can't figure out how to erase objects, that I have placed? I have found various versions of "erase", but none of them does anything to trees and treasure. I can mark an area, but when I press "erase" nothing happens. When I use the "dig"-function (from "tiles") it seems like I create some water - but as soon as I move the screen, then it disappears. Making a "Beach", where you can use a boat - haven't figured it, only how to get cliffs... Thought it might have been the dig-function that could do it, but...

Any help? Thanks in advance :-)

For the 'erase' thingy:
Just click the object and hit the 'delete' key

I would tell you but since you'll have other questions if you keep learning the Editor, you'd be better-off to read this text-guide

My guide is not perfect, ask anything you need to.

For those independent maps with no meaning, when you're choosing a custom map, check the "Show Multiplayer Maps" box. There are quite a few.

Happy dominating!

Thanks a lot, guys! I must have been rather blind, I see :-)

And wow, nostalgia...! Found the old Warlords from HOMM3-map. That was just grand :-)

Not stopping on the map-making, though, just because I found some multiplayer maps... Looking forward to figure out that World entirely - loved the HOMM4 map editor :-)

Thought I'd jump into this thread because I like the title.

Having problems with the editor.  I'm new to the game, and I've been playing around with the random maps and modifying them in the editor.  Did about eight maps like this, had a blast playing them.  Made a 9th, but for some reason this time the editor won't let me place any objects on the map.

The object window on the right of the editor is there, I can pick the player and the categories of objects, but nothing shows in the window, neither list or thumbnail no matter what I pick.  I didn't do anything I didn't do the other 8 times, and I can't figure it out.  I must of clicked on something accidently, but who knows.

Help, please?

If that happened to me; I would save the maps I made into a separate folder not under H5 and reinstall.

Fyi, on my drive, I created a back-up Editor folder with it's own name, just for such events.

Hello,

I got HOMM5 1.5 as a $2.50 Amazon download last year and can't find a map editor to generate random maps. I got the campaign and a handful of custom single-player maps. Is the editor a separate add-on product?

Thanks...

You do not have a Editor folder under the install?

You need the standalone expansion pack: Tribes of the East. H5 'vanilla' has no editor or RMG.

Thanks for quick reply - I should have checked back sooner.

I see several versions of Tribes at Amazon, descriptions are sketchy and don't mention editor - do you know if it comes with all versions?

Should I consider a different release of the game, e.g. HOMM6? (H5 1.5 worked reasonably well on Win7 and seems OK so far on Win10 after a week or so...)

All TOE should be the same and have the editor, don't forget to download patch 3.1 afterwards. H6 is totally different game and generally not very well received.

Map Editor??

I'm still new to HOMM V, just recently bought it on Steam for big discount. Unfortunately, I CAN NOT find the Editor! Anywhere on my computer. I don't see it included with the HOMM V bundle.

Any one help would be GREAT! I will soon post a comment from a similar Steam thread, which explains what I've done looking for it so far.

Thanks for all you help!!

Btw... H6? M&M Heroes VI? is NOT HOMM series. It's a look a-like, but very different. It's not the same series...

Currently, there is no continuing title in the HOMM Series. There is no HOMM VI title, because again, M&MH VI is NOT HOMM!
