Steam Sale
The Steam Summer sale is on until the 22nd, most games are going over 50% off (many 75%) sometime this week. Borderlands 2 hit 66%, Skyrim 40% already. H6 (every version and DLC) is currently 35, but will likely go higher sometime this week. I'm making this thread for recommendations, both asking and telling.
I strongly suggest waiting until the last day to buy anything permanent deal less than 66% off, because nearly everything will be reduced that that or higher at some point.
I recommend the following:
Borderlands 2 (FPS/RPG excellent dialogue and humor)
Dark Souls (RPG very hard)
Endless space (TBS 4X, think Civlization but in space)
Portal/Portal 2 (You have to play these. No Choice. I'm sorry.)
Mount & Blade (RPGish, more like a medeival warfare simulator, very realistic)
Skyrim (if you have to ask, you are beyond hope)
The Last Remnant (RPG great high fantast like square enix used to make)
Tom Clancy's Rainbox Six Vegas 2 (Tactical FPS, best shooter ever IMO - nothing like Halo)

Oh good, I've been waiting to pick up Dawnguard and Dragonborn. Can anyone tell me if Hearthfire is worth getting? The only real additions seem to be some new houses and the ability to adopt children.

Hearthfire is a nice way for 360/PS3 players to get to know what it's like to have your own custom house.
For PC players there are a hundred mods that does the same thing but better. Not worth getting, it doesn't even add something that can be used as a cool mod resource.
It does add the ability to adopt children who has voiceovers, which is cool I guess since you can kill parents and then adopt and abuse their child.
Because evil. Still not worth paying money for.

I just bought the Thief collection (pretty sure I have the archaic dust covered hard copies lying around here somewhere) and I also snagged Deus Ex and Heroes 6 gold.

Rome 2 is on a 25% sale over at steam, it has good enough graphics and animation (though the animations didn't work for me making it on par with Rome 1 which is silly) but I believe that they have fixed a lot of bugs and the game could be considered playable soon.
