Bob Dylan - lyrics too but who cares?

When you're sad and when you're lonely
And you haven't got a friend
Just remember that death is not the end
And all that you held sacred
Falls down and does not mend
Just remember that death is not the end
Not the end, not the end
Just remember that death is not the end
When you're standing on the crossroads
That you cannot comprehend
Just remember that death is not the end
And all your dreams have vanished
And you don't know what's up the bend
Just remember that death is not the end
Not the end, not the end
Just remember that death is not the end
When the storm clouds gather round you
And heavy rains descend
Just remember that death is not the end
And there's no-one there to comfort you
With a helping hand to lend
Just remember that death is not the end
Not the end, not the end
Just remember that death is not the end
For the tree of life is growing
Where the spirit never dies
And the bright light of salvation
Up in dark and empty skies
When the cities are on fire
With the burning flesh of men
Just remember that death is not the end
When you search in vain to find
Some law-abiding citizen
Just remember that death is not the end
Not the end, not the end
Just remember that death is not the end
Not the end, not the end
Just remember that death is not the end

Life Is

Life is a beginning
a spark
that ends in a cry
announcing one more soul
on earth under heaven

Life is a fire
born of kindling
growing in size
spreading to blaze
that brightly glows

Life is a smoke
that appears large
to become vapor
that thinly wisps
and fades from sight

Thanks Noob.

"My Dragon" seems to be gaining the upper hand these days as is probably evident. Here are two very recent poems that are of more serious nature. The Bent Old Man is more a bio while The Thirteenth Viking was mostly born from desperation. I figured I should admit this stuff, to reveal my artistic bent that emerges from a serious life trial.

"The Thirteenth Viking"

Dragon! Come into the light and I will end your days!
Chicken! Reveal your wicked self and we both will slay!
I would lose but I would take you with me at my death
I would welcome final pain to save another’s life!

I am a felled oak and unable to use my limbs
Once glowing like the sun but now but an ember’s spark
I roared like a caged wolf, and ran like a young roe buck
Soared like an eagle and sang lays like a meadow lark

These cold hard bars make me a prisoner forgotten
Forging each day as the last relived in fading light
These invisible chains make my body a stranger
leaving only the date of each day advancing past

Dragon! Come into the light and I will end your days!
Chicken! Reveal your wicked self and we both will slay!
I would lose but I would take you with me at my death
I would welcome final pain to save another’s life!

"The Bent Old Man”

There's a roadside inn where travelers stay,
to rest a short night from a long day.
A bent old man sat in a corner alone,
far from friends and far from home.
He made a smile but it looked sour,
so he sat in silence for more than an hour.
He rose to leave after hearing a slur,
that framed him a wandering old cur.
Did you ever see such an ugly face?
Those scars and wrinkles mar this place!
The bent old man saw an empty chair,
went to their table, sat down amid stare.
The scar near my eye came this way,
from saving a woman one cold grey day.
I was walking home and heard a scream,
I followed her cry and found a cruel scene.
Robbers held this lady threatening her life,
I struck them blows but one had a knife.
I was cut there before they ran away,
and as you can see I still wear it today.
This old wound on the side of my face?
Came saving a child during a horse-race.
And these wrinkles that line my face?
are my memories of many of place.
Some happy,
some sad,
some solemn,
some glad.
The bent old man silently rose for the door,
Before leaving the inn he turned once more.
I wish the same for young men like you,
for a face reflects what it lives through.
He passed outside and quietly shut the door
and that noble old man…was seen no more.

Timeless, Aimless,
Direct me right through this
Questions defined
By the minds bent and losing

See what you find through the gates of your eyes
A fire inside burns away all the.... (pause)

Lies right before you
A storm hiding whats true
Strings chains and gate ways
confining our world youth

Pressures tormenting all those not inside
Self ordained righteous parading in line
"Get with or fear this if this is your time kids
Fall in no questions we make up your minds"

I start my own fires Connect my own wires
I'm in control of this fortress my mind
And when I reach high through the lowest of skies
I find what I know are questions not lies

But I call these wings
I've seen many things
The brightest of shadows
The lowest of kings
I see a bell
It rings quite loud with pride
though its hollow whispers a voice deep inside

The weakest of faith
the weakest of faith
I questioned everything every which way
I climbed a storm to the depths of the rest of the weight what we're made of and show you the door.

Why the hostility?
Why am I the nemesis?
Why do you hate me,
and treat me like I'm a beast?

Who has cursed me,
Turned me into a freak
That you can't stand
And would kill on a whim?

I'm dying inside,
And there's no one to help me
I'm dying inside,
And there's no one to accept me
I'm dying inside,
And I'm trying to stay alive
I'm dying inside,
And you won't even say goodbye

But I forgive you
Now
I'll leave you
Soon
I'll be off
To
See you on the other side

Dark?
Yes, but that's pretty much what's going on right now.

Quote:
Burnt Norton

I

Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden. My words echo
Thus, in your mind.
                                  But to what purpose
Disturbing the dust on a bowl of rose-leaves
I do not know.
                                  Other echoes
Inhabit the garden. Shall we follow?
Quick, said the bird, find them, find them,
Round the corner. Through the first gate,
Into our first world, shall we follow
The deception of the thrush? Into our first world.
There they were, dignified, invisible,
Moving without pressure, over the dead leaves,
In the autumn heat, through the vibrant air,
And the bird called, in response to
The unheard music hidden in the shrubbery,
And the unseen eyebeam crossed, for the roses
Had the look of flowers that are looked at.
There they were as our guests, accepted and accepting.
So we moved, and they, in a formal pattern,
Along the empty alley, into the box circle,
To look down into the drained pool.
Dry the pool, dry concrete, brown edged,
And the pool was filled with water out of sunlight,
And the lotos rose, quietly, quietly,
The surface glittered out of heart of light,
And they were behind us, reflected in the pool.
Then a cloud passed, and the pool was empty.
Go, said the bird, for the leaves were full of children,
Hidden excitedly, containing laughter.
Go, go, go, said the bird: human kind
Cannot bear very much reality.
Time past and time future
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.

Random pieces
Form a puzzle
Stiched in my mind

The puzzle
Reveals
Your true kind

I refuse
To believe
The apparent truth

Deep inside
I try to hide
That I'm hurt

Stay away, don't come close
My opiate
My remorse
I've always had bad fortune
My deadliest
My torture

Something ticks
And keeps me going
Exausted through the night
Something clicks
Shifts the clock
And reminds me of my deepest fright

Tell me
Tell me
Tell me what you've become
Tell me
Tell me
Tell me what you've done
To the person I thought I've known
To the person I have thrown
Me and my life
Tell me
Tell me
Tell me right now
Tell me
Tell me
Tell me how
They died before they even lived
They died before they were even killed
By the truth covering the perfect lie

Tell me
Tell me
Tell me why
Why do all the perfect people
Live inside our minds
Tell me
Tell me
Tell me why
Why do all the perfect people
Die when they're met outside

It's a bit early for this but since many folks have the winter-blues might be good now anyhow. <g>

Midwest Spring

I love the Midwest Spring
that dons the Easter dress
and wakes the world anew
around the Robins nest

Along green rolling hills
a misty veil hangs low
waiting beside a noisy rill
to dart across a road

Suddenly daffodils say just wait
much more color is on the way
and don't you dare be late
to see the painting of your days

I'm white says the Dogwood tree
to the sleepy naked oak
while lavender says look at me
under fragrant branches comes a croak

For you we'll sing a chorus soon
and announce your summer nights
While horned owls hoot the moon
above the firefly's evening lights

Purple is what's on my arms
even if redbud is my name
both are beautiful says the dove
faithfully cooing the morning lane

Soon birds of blue will bring
their song to long hedge-rows
and whipporwills will sweetly sing
to the annoyance of the crows

I love the Midwest Spring
that dons the Easter dress
and wakes the world anew
around the Robins nest

Greetings
I see you've been well

I wish it was the same for me
Alas I'm stuck in this personal hell

Nothing's the way it should be
Nothing means anything to me
That's alright

I'm afraid

Justified
It's justified
That I died
I'm a walking corpse
A revenat

Everything's the same in this inferno
As if I had never left
We see everything from here
Even more than we should

But I'm consumed
By a shadow
I must disappear one more time
Farewell

If that were mine I'd name it something that implies what struck me as a visit. I've not said the obvious word. A title that is "a hint" might be good.

Good one, though I wish you could branch-out and write about some beautiful scene or even something silly.

It's been over a month, and I haven't answered you yet
Sorry for that.

Well, the thing is that I don't live a happy life.  Far from it, actually.  This nonsense I've been spewing in this thread (plus a bunch of other stuff I have written in some notebooks) is nothing more than a way of relaxing, so to say.  I think there have been two or three "happy" poems that I've written, but I don't feel like writing that kind of stuff.  Simply put - it's not my thing.  Plus, most of these I've come up with while I was in my bed, unable to get any sleep because of -the certain someone- .
It's not that I don't want to write about positive things, though, it's just that I don't have any means or ideas concerning that.
