adding creatures to maped

Ok...

I have added some creatures to the map editor. I can place them at the map, but the map editor stay showing a message:

Exception EAccessViolation in module h3wmaped.exe at 000E68D0.
Access violation at address 004E68D0 in module 'h3wmaped.exe'. Read address 00000000.

I can ignore it, but sometimes the program close and it becomes very annoying to use the map editor. If I place the creature with ERM command it works perfectly in the game. What I am missing?

Are they replacement creatures or completely new units?

I assume then that you are working with the ERA Amethyst plugin to add them to the game

That's a strange error. I've been unable to duplicate it. The only things you need to get something working in the editor are the map def and add its entry in the ZEOBJTS.txt & ZOBJCTS.txt files and you're good to go. The only pointers I can offer is to double check all the entries. Make sure the spelling is all good and matches the actual files and that they point to the right type and subtype (54 and then creature number) followed by 2 and 0 and that they are in the right order in both files. If this looks all good and isn't the problem, then the only thing I can suggest is to take all the new creatures out and then add them in one by one until you find the problem child. Wish I could offer more.

Oh ya, one thing I forgot. If you want to use new creatures in the map editor, you need to include a config file for the editor so that it can understand creature id's above the regular limit because on its own it can only go up to dracolich which is 136 or something. you can test to see if this is the problem by changing the map defs to point to a creature number below the 136 number. If no crash, that's the problem and you need to make the config file. look at the options config file included in the covenant town mod as an example.

That doesn't sound right. If you enable the covenant town mod with your mod manager the covenant town additions to the map maker should all work fine. What version of ERA are you using? What version of Amethyst? The map ed patch creature number should be set to amethyst creature number +1 (i.e.  for covenant town 211 creatures, map ed config is 212)
How many creatures have you added to game thus far? You changed numbers in zeobjcts and zobjcts too?

That this kind of bug happened does not surprise me. I've been unable to get MAPED's non-base features to work (at the exception of the advanced properties window, strangely enough), which has frustrated me for the longest time (unable to give properties to the empty artifacts).

Anyway, it's possible that you added one creature too many. As asked earlier, how many new creatures have you added?

I have re installed the game and then I copied my mods to the new version. Now it works. I was not using ERA 2.46, maybe that was the problem.

Thanks for the tip with covenant town!! It helps me a lot.
