You must be kidding me... or trolling.
There is a good reason why the devs got bankrupt after making HoMM4 (sure their console also had major impact on their fall, but still).

I'd swear H4 sold pretty well.

3DO went bankrupt by other reasons.

PS: Also, have in mind H4 was developed by 2 programmers for most of the development, it wasn't made under the best circumstances either.

I do think HoMM 4 is a good game.

I can't see why that would be trolling though?

Lol But despite its issues(which were probably a product of the upcoming bankrupcy rather than its cause), it had its good points too. I just personally find that it could not measure up to the previous titles. Much of it is up to taste - when a game makes so many changes, it is bound to divide the fanbase.

I didn't play much of HoMM4, maybe  2-3 weeks.
But the skill system was very limited, the hero system was broken.
On one hand at the beginning of the game the mobs always targeted my hero (which died all the time), on the other hand I hear people saying that later on they just use their heroes without any monsters as "my hero can kill 15 black dragons in 1 shot"...

But I did like that you can either build building A or B, kinda like Disciples.

But the graphics was bad... very very bad compare to HoMM3.

^This.

Some people may love the changes and therefore may consider it the best. Other won't. I don't see the problem.

No and No.
We know nothing of HoMM7 so far.
And Black Hole went bankrupt shortly after release, so they won't do much in the future.
The company responsible for the adventure packs, Limbic, might. Seeing as they are the devs for M&M10, they might be asked in the future, but they seem a little small for that.

The original devs are bankrupt, we won't be seeing them again for better or worse. But not everything was their fault, they had to follow ubi guidelines too. All we can do from our end is make sure ubi understands what went wrong and assist whoever takes over. As for who, when, why, how - those are questions that will be answered in the future by someone else

They didn't agree with Ubisoft plans for H6 I think.

Lol I must admit I hope not.
After the promising yet disastrous Heroes 5 and the huge pileup car crash of Heroes 6, I just hope Ubisoft puts somehow loses the rights to the series...
or at least put it on hiatus until Erwin's gone so he can't damage it further
i wonder if anybody bought 50 Shades of Darkness

I've played HoMM6 for several hours, not a single crush.
Using the Steam HoMM6 Complete via Wine on Linux.

Then you are one of the few With latest patch (2.1.1 I think) I could't even start the game (not that I'm eager to play Heroes6) because I have nvidia graphic card, and they re-introduced a bug with latest patch that prevents starting the game for me. All the things from support like uptade graphic drivers and similar things didn't work so I just deleted the game. The only thing that worked for me is running the game in safe mode, but they removed that option with uplay update

The hell.. My nvidia issue had disappeared last time I played. Such a shame because Shades campaign and dungeon are actually a lot of fun. Had the game been released with the original factions plus dungeon it would have been pretty alright. Sadly a lot of people had been fed up with the issues by the time Shades was released.

Made a quick search on two topics I had made some time ago, some of you might find them interesting given the latest discussions.

What really went wrong with H5? - A discussion on the key H5 shortcomings and what could have been done to correct them. Many of those were actually taken care of with H6.

Things that H6 did right - A look on what I find H6 did well, regarding the design of units, abilities and spells. Overall one cannot dismiss the gameplay evolution it brought, BH made some pretty awesome changes on the existing formula. They may have lost sight of the forest while looking at the trees but they deserve some credit for the good things they did.

Those are both good posts Elvin and sum them up nicely. I think for H7 a mix of all the good aspects of H5 (fun, deep skill system) and H6 (minimal randomness and cooldowns) would be cool

Eh, the randomness of H6 was way too minimal and cooldowns were a downer.

Part of what makes the game fun is that every game is different: Spells, skills, early neutrals, combat effects triggering when you want them or not.. Without the mage guild or random spells from pyramid/utopia/shrines/etc you miss that lottery feeling, please gimme something good! I honestly do not want full control over that, what I want is more or less balanced spells.

And then compare the classic unicorn blind with glory blind: A guaranteed blind every 3 turns feels so calculated that it's no fun anymore. Why not make it random with a high chance for a minor effect(ie vertigo) and a low chance for a major effect(ie blind)?

And cooldown? That's just an excuse for not making balanced spells, they should be balanced by effectiveness and cost. Remember what happened when they gave regeneration a cooldown? People stalled so they could cast it again, making early fights longer. I want to cast my spells because they are fun to use, cooldowns won't let me.

I don't have anything against randomness, I actually like it as game element. Though I will note that I'm not competitive player, I usually play against AI, and I understand that it is not the best thing to have randomness when playing against other players (balance issues).

The thing I liked about cooldowns was that there are obviuosly some OP spells and it was good not seeing them cast every turn!
