This place has long needed an AMV thread. That's Anime Music Video for you who don't know. Non-profit vids made by joining together cartoon clips from different series along with music and/or soundclips.
If you're interested in history here's an article leading upto the digital era of 2001 one. You will also find a lot of famous names there from the earlier AMV era.
AMV Hells are collections of comedy and parody shorts combined into longer videos. They've got a lot of parodies that will be completely missed if you don't know the original anime and there are countless spoilers there too. Still provide some entertainment regardless. They're bound to come up sooner or later so better to have them out of the way here.
Now that the boring required stuff is off, the main reason I made this thread was just to share some favourites between people. Let's put the basic requirements as Name, Creator, Song and a short description so even if the links die people can find them and know what to expect.
Delight by Aggressor, the Pure and the Tainted - Blue Stahli
A very well made action video with a custom framework and effects. Visually stunning work.
Touch by Shinzo, Touch You Right Now - Basic Element
Great editing and absolutely perfectly timed athmospheric/light action.
Bloody Sister by Cheesebarry, Paradise Lost - Hollywood Undead
A drama AMV with superb storytelling and some decent custom effects to make it happen. This one you will want to sit from the beginning to the very end and not miss a beat.
Three is a nice number for the first post, don't you think? Don't want to flood too many in the opening.

I haven't seen too many AMVs, but I absolutely fell in love with Gia Secando - a very good editor making One Piece AMVs, mostly summarizing the show's greatest battles. Almost everything he does is great, but I don't want to flood the thread so here's one example:

@Stevie: You can quote a reply and it will show you the whole post, including the BB code. This will show you how to link videos properly. Note that to get a working flash video from youtube you need to replace the 'watch?v=' part with '/v/'.
I can be proud of having achieved something with that post at least. Funny as I was thinking of linking the very same AMV in the opening post but decided to cut down on the vids to not have too many.

PS. It would be nice to keep a maximum of 3 per post since the youtube embeds slow the site down. When you have enough links it becomes annoying to browse as it slows down too much. This has happened in the past in the eurovision thread.

I didn't knew I had facial hair until hearing "Tears of an Angel" for the first time.. those goosebumps, incredible song. Praise God for such talent. Great artist. And great AMV.

Awesome AMVs. I'm watching Full Metal Panic now because of that single link Joonas. And after that Full Metal Alchemist, and after that Ef series.. If it wasn't for these AMVs I would've prolly never watched the animes
Too bad there are very few AMVs from before the Golden Era there. Some of them are really hard to find. Especially the really old ones. If you guys happen to find some please share.

An eternal classic from the early 90s. Apologies for the source, if you can find a better one please share. A really well timed one, great internal motion cuts. This is from the early 90s. Still made with just VCR recorder. Plus it's Dirty Pair, who doesn't love Dirty Pair?
Engel by Kevin Caldwell, Engel - Rammstein
When speaking of masterpieces pretty much all of Kevin's creations are very high there on the list and I'm sure we'll see more of his creations here, especially the older analog ones. I decided to put this here, not becuase it's my favourite but because if you know the anime and can understand German, this one has to top your list. Bloody Brilliant! Timed to perfection, association with the song is amazing and the themes match perfectly.
This next one has a little story behind it actually. I was scouring youtube for fast links to Bubblegum Crisis OST and this came up in recommended vids. I watched for a while and was like, waaait a second, this seems awfully familiar. Isn't this one of Vlad's oldies? An lo!

I have recently been checking out some other various forms of electronica / techno as well. What I have heard is usually mixed of moments great and moments to skip. Sometimes I imagine hyperventilating pigs, but other times it can please to my ears

Just let the mood take you away with this one. Just that excellent sync of video and audio makes for a perfect combination. Light athmospheric.
Between Dogs and Wolves by Satsumayu, You're Going Down - Sick Puppies
Action to the max. Excellent effects with custom scenes and setups. Shows that you don't need to mix in fifty different series to achieve greatness. Black Lagoon's awesomeness condensed to two-and-a-half minutes.
Condemned Memoir by Kizanzi, Blue - The Birhday Massacre
Horror/drama with excellent effects and 3D editing. Not to mention Elfen Lied and The Birthday Massacre is a match made in heaven. Back in 2007 this pretty much blew my mind. It still stand among the very best 6 years later.

I think even I can sing better Katjusha than that and I can't sing and my Russian sounds like someone tried to teach a dead badger to speak.
But is nice otherwise, reminder of WW2 russians who really were singing and marching in line when they attacked, I kid you not.

And i'd suggest to look at the poster's channels, there are some really good amvs there, vermillionzer0 is mostly high quality stuff, too^^
