where are maps stored??

Hi,

Where does Heroes 5 (TotE) store the maps? I created 5-6 of them with the map generator and now I want to remove them but I can't find the folder where they;re stored

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, if that matters...

Thanks in advance!

Aren't they in the Maps folder under the TotE folder? If not and your Ultimate works like my Premium, then you'll probably need to relax your User Account Control Setting to see them and turn it back up when you're finished.

For some reason the UAC when set to high...changes my games memory and folders.

Well, windows has some stupid security measures, so if you run your game like normal user, if you don't have permission to write to game's folder it will write in a 'hidden' game's folder that you can change. In my case, that folder is:
Quote:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

Here you have Program Files (and Program Files x86 on 64bit windows) where write is performed.

My game uses this folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Maps for storing generated maps.

thanks markkur and frosty. I have found the maps but not where you said they should be, but in a completely different location )

Namely, in HMM5 > bina2 > maps. This is because I have Collectors Edition (or something like that) Heroes 5 which came packed with all 3 versions (original, HoF, and TotE).

Anyway, all good now. Thanks again and.... cheers! ^_^

Yeah, mine are under X86 but if I turn up the security my map-saves all change in the Editor. Well, how weird is that. 3 players and 3 locations. <LOL> AT least mine were not put into vase on my bookcase, so I'd have to get up from the chair to get them

LOL... You funny guy

What you said is correct however, it's the first game of dozens I've played that such an important folder can be found in so many and different locations that it's weird indeed ^_^
