Yeah sorry, I couldn't help myself. True it's not a mill deck, it's an OTK deck, but whenever I see Coldlight Oracle I automatically discard such a deck as mill It does ultimately draw a lot of cards and I dislike such a playstyle. Sorry for the confusion.

So, how's your expierience with the expansion so far Minion? You went silent since its release...

- Elemental Shaman. Why would you throw Jades into this type of deck? I prefer more Elemental synergies, plus 1/1, 2/2 and 3/3 Jades don't give you that much. Jade only makes sense when you start snowballing them past 5+ stats I think...

I use jade in my elemental shaman. Mostly because I dont have all the needed elementals. I can tell you that I at an average read a 6/6 golem I am an awful person.

I was on a trip actually for 3 days so can't comment a lot on the expansion so far! I only have the Fire Plumes Heart crafted so far, I do like it, I can see some flaws in my deck so it needs tinkering. I made it way too heavy at first lol, you don't need such a massive end game because completing the Quest is almost all the endgame it needs. But I am a bit behind on the meta for sure.

My initial expressions are that Rogue and Mage are insanely strong, it is not that I can't beat them with my Warrior - it is that I am not even close! Against both types I need more aggression, I may need to copy a list somewhere though that is better. Dirty rat is supposed to be a counter but for me it fails just every time lol, I dunno what to do xD

Plenty of dust left though as I haven't crafted anything else yet, so probably crafting that Priest Quest soon

Quest-Rogue is insanely strong against some decks. Yes. But, there are actually quite a few counters there. I started playing Discolock and it just shreds Quest-Rogue.

Managed to beat Pirate Warrior who had a god hand with my Elemental Shaman. But I also had almost a perfect curve with two Tar Creepers and Tol'vir Stoneshaper. Even so the game was really tight, more then I would presume (I had hoped this kind of Taunt wall would be too strong for it). Once again Kalimos was MVP but I gambled a bit, picking AoE instead of healing while I was low on health...

This shows Pirate Warrior can be really OP, good thing it's getting pushed back recently.

EDIT: Holy moly! I've just seen Disguised Toasts Hemet+Holy Wrath+Molten Giant combo. Sick!

I too have been watching some of those pro-player videos. Un'Goro is fun. So many different decks..

I got Nemet, so I could make that deck. Could be quite fun to try out.

EDIT: Just got Harrison Jones in the pack from brawl.

Well I'll be!

Third pack since my second Open the Waygate, and already another Legendary Not top tier, Unite the Murlocs, but how can I even complain at this point. This yet again confirms how bad Gadgetzan was for me when it comes to packs... in a span of around 30 packs from Un'Goro I almost got as many Legendaries as through my whole Gadgetzan cycle. Sorry for boasting, but this is meaningful to me.

That aside, I'm on to make a Wild Megafin + Neptulon deck. Even if it sucks! MRGL!

Oh and I found out that Devolve is quite a good spell nowadays. It can f*ck up Quest Rouges or Quest Mages (for countering Doomsayer).

Megafin+Neptulon is a deck I also really want to try one day. sadly it is not a must craft for me.

I crafted Sunkeeper Tarim today in order to make a midrange paladin. Damn it is not easy being a paladin nowadays I find it super hard to make and play a mediocre paladin deck.. sadly.

Legendaries so far:
Nemet
Kalimos
Sunkeeper Tarim

Well Quest Rogue should not leave a "quest minion" on board, ever. If they are that desperate then I bet you have already won But I do agree that Devolve is amazing, especially against Buff Paladin that is oddly(?) more popular as of late. Also against the aggro Druid it just rocks, lol at Devolving their Living Mana minions It is GG right there!

I must say that I'm quite surprised with my Murloc Shaman (with the added Quest). I took it for a fun distraction but it's actually decent in Wild.

There are some solid new Murlocs in Un'Goro that you can add and playing Megafin works better then I thought. It turns out a hand full of random Murlocs is actually pretty dangerous in itself. You have the ability to play so many of them that even with boardclears you can spam at least two waves of strong bodies (of course Everyfin is crucial here). And I still don't evan have Gentle Megasaur which can Adapt them with Divine Shields...

Good to hear that murlocs are great in wild. Now I just need megafin. But you are right, the new murlocs are actually pretty good or atleast solid!

I just opened a pack and got the pala-murloc and open the waygate. So far my un'goro legendaries are going really well!

Play wise I am going back to playing midrange hunter. It is just as strong as before Gadgetzan. I highly recommend it.

Open the Waygates eh?

I've tried Quest Mage, Arcane Giant variant, and I don't like it that much. As I predicted it plays like Freeze Mage, you're dependent on draws and stalling. And I dislike Freeze Mage, especially playing it. That is not the style of play I like. I think I'm more of an on-curve and synergies type of guy. Elemental Shaman is the type of deck I enjoy the most.

That aside so far I'm digging the meta. Lots of variety (at least in casual) and I don't mind playing against Quest Rouge (so far at least). I've beat it with several of my decks already, recently with Swarm Hunter. I don't know if it's because my opponents aren't the best players (and they play it because of netdecking) or if simply I'm that good at breaking their plan. That's not to say the deck isn't cancer, Stonetusk Boar or Violet Teacher are really OP in this deck. Even Moroes get's to shine!

@Emil, can you show me how does this Mid-range Hunter look like, with a decklist perhaps? It's the one with Beats, Stampede and Dinomancy?

OMG! Teach me how to beat those pesky quest-rogues?! I cannot break them!

My Midrange Hunter

That is how I have designed it. Changes coming to it would be to

-1 Ravasaur Runt
-1 Nesting Roc
+ Tundra Rhino

I am not a fan of Ravasaur Runt or crackling Razormaw. Might just keep them because they are best. But I want more alternatives.
Nesting roc is pretty good. But that 5 spot is pretty crucial and hard to fill. With Sludge Belcher, Azure Drake, Ram wrangler and more. It is a tough spot to choose. I would love to try out Elise at some point, but probably adding a Tundra Rhino og Stampdeing Kodo would be best.

Note - I only have one Raptor Hatchling atm. When I get the second I suppose Ravasaur runt will go out.

Thx, you're deck looks interesting I think I'll try it at some point. For now I want to try more of the new stuff. After I get bored of Swarm Hunter I think I'll try Beast Hunter enchanced with Dinomancy and Stampede (gotta craft those two though).

emilsn91 said:

Well I don't think I found an actual way to beat them. Imo the best you can do is to stall an opponent Quest completion by removing the minions he played more then two times. Even if it means loosing some good removals. That way he looses resources and he needs to choose another minion for the Quest. I usually find my opponents waste too many cards and they simply run out of steam. Of course like Minion said a good player will try to play a minion in such a way you won't have a chance to stop he's combo. So a little luck is needed (bad draws on his side). Other then that you need to be aggressive. When the Quest activates you have at most two turns to beat him down before he fills the board with 5/5s.

I decided to give Quest Mage another go and I actually enjoyed it this time around. The Quest was actually quite easy to activate (Primodial Glyph does the trick). Still not my cup of cake, but stalling a Renolock and playing two Arcane Golems after thr time warp for exact lethal was satysfying. Usually you're the one being trolled by Renolocks (meaning sometimes you can't do anything against their plays) so it was a nice feeling of 'having control over the game'...

EDIT: Hmm, interesting. I faced Quest Paladin for the first time and he managed to summon Galvadon. I thought I was a goner, but even though he had spellproof he wasn't hard to remove. My opponent conceded afterwards. It turns out 5 Adapts isn't auto-win cause RNG does its part also... probably the reason why this Quest isn't so popular.

I guess stalling and trying to gain control is the only option. Sadly it is the option I believe I take all the time. For some stupid reason it never works. I only played and won against one pesky Quest-Rogue. I think I won because
1) He played horrible
2) He had a bad mulligan

My new midrange is the only one so far that can go head to head with them; mainly due to the strong curve and powerful minions.

Speaking of midrange maybe try to play Elemental Shaman more? It's fun to play and Shaman is an expert at denying Rouges of minions to Shadowstep. Don't be afraid to use Devolves, Storms or Hexes on his stuff, even if those are 1/1s (though keep one for Violet Teacher).

I'm not saying the deck is ideal, but it's good for stalling and has that 'push' to finish Rouges before they start snowballing. I think I have the best winrate with them while playing this deck. I don't have the exact results but I think it's something around 6-1.

Speaking of Elementals I would love to try Elemental Mage, but I'm afraid without Pyros it looses some consistency. If I ever get my hands on her I'll definately try it though...

I need to update my elemental shaman I think. I just need those Blazecallers!

I made a budget (in lack of better) elemental mage! works fantastic! I don't have Pyros. It is pretty aggressive .. tempo mage'ish. Try it! Really fun!

Quest-Rogue has two big weaknesses.

1. It uses it's early-game to get it's quest done and can thus not actively contest the board in this phase. That opens a lot of opportunities for decks that want to get on the board early and make pressure from there. With Aggro-decks like Discolocks or Aggro-Beast-Hunters you have quite an easy time with Quest-Rogues as you can finish them before they even get their quest done in the most cases.
Another deck that wins a lot from that weak early-game is for instance Ramp-Druid. It gives you the time to Ramp up and outvalue the Quest-Rogue, when he finishes his quests. I once managed to do that and the Quest-Rogue just run out of steam because he always had to trade two or three for one.

2. A Quest-Rogue also needs a board to win anything with his Crystal Core. Trading away your opponents minions is not really important in the early-game as your opponent should never leave the minions with which he wants to fulfill his quest on the board. But, if you see that the opponent could play a Crystal Core in the next round trade away as much as you can of your opponents board! At any price! A Crystal Core on an empty board doesn't really accomplish anything.

I hate how much of a coinflip it is to play against QR, sometimes they finish quest at turn 3 and prep the gay next turn and its game over, whatever you play, and sometimes you win because they don't get their combo pieces.....but it's just SO boring to play against, even my grandma playing spider solitaire is more exciting.

Anyway, I found dirty rat the most efficient way to shut them down, after they bounced that southsea deckhand twice back to their hand I'll gladly help them playing it again, and destroy it right away

I hate how broken swashburglar is in the deck though, bouncing is not a problem as it's a one mana card that gives you a new card, also annoying for dirty rat because if they get a good inion from swashburglar you might be in trouble.

Hunter can also try playing with snipe, it's a decent card vs other decks like Pirate warrior and murloc decks too.

Edit: had a warrior quest and tried playing with patrons in wild for a change, actually goes quite well
