I must say: Aluneth is amazing!
Tempo-mage was my first real Hearthstone deck with which i achieved anything and drawing Aluneth gave me a reason to try out a modern iteration of Tempo-mage (now with extra secrets). Aluneth really gives you the opportunity to spam out those cards. I even put one of my arcane intellects out of the deck as I simply do not need that much carddraw. Especially in mirror match-ups Aluneth is often the deciding factor between winning and losing the game, a tempo mage without him will simply run out of cards if he tries to keep up with you while you do not need to bother about having to few cards (rather to much).

I learned the hard way though that you need to be really careful with Aluneth about when to play him and when not to. I actually lost quite a lot of games were i was just drawn deeper and deeper into fatigue by him. Drawing 4 cards a turn is really painful in fatigue.

So I managed to complete my first Dungon Run, with Warrior. I was quite lucky even though I had a greedy deck. I of course faced Blackseed yet again (man I hate this boss), but I outvalued him with Grim Patron and an early Lich King. Other then that the bosses didn't give me a hard time.

My final boss was Xol. Without spoiling too much, I don't know how hard she can get, but the battle was actually very easy BUT because I had Horn of Cenarius, which basically won me the game. While it didn't drew some of my strongest cards it helped me establish a board early on. I don't know hard other bosses are (I've seen Toggwoggle on stream and he seems hard) but Xol looks to be one of the weakest from the lot...

PS: Jades plus double battlecry is another OP combo.

EDIT: Got Kinsgbane from a pack (yay!), so I needed an idea for a cool deck that it would be used in. The Weapon itself still tries to find its place in the meta from what I can read, so I looked for a different approach. I found an inspiration on Hearthpwn and made a Wild Deathrattle deck.

### Deathrattle Rogue
# Class: Rogue
# Format: Wild
#
# 2x (1) Deadly Poison
# 1x (1) Doomerang
# 1x (1) Kingsbane
# 1x (1) Mistress of Mixtures
# 1x (2) Bloodmage Thalnos
# 1x (2) Cavern Shinyfinder
# 2x (2) Jade Shuriken
# 2x (2) Jade Swarmer
# 2x (2) Leeching Poison
# 1x (2) Loot Hoarder
# 2x (2) Plated Beetle
# 2x (2) Roll the Bones
# 1x (3) Unearthed Raptor
# 1x (4) Fal'dorei Strider
# 2x (4) Southsea Squidface
# 1x (4) Tinker's Sharpsword Oil
# 1x (4) Xaril, Poisoned Mind
# 1x (5) Carnivorous Cube
# 1x (5) Sludge Belcher
# 1x (6) Aya Blackpaw
# 1x (9) Anub'arak
# 1x (9) Valeera the Hollow

I've always had a soft spot for Deathrattle Rouge, it's my favorite archetype for this class. And the deck is so cool! It's one of these types of decks that can loose miserably, but when it rolls it can get serious. Aya + Carnoviorous cube? Well how about copying the Cubes affect with Raptor for 4x Aya on board? The deck still needs some tweaks (I wonder about the sense of two Leeching Poisons). I'm also happy that I finally found use for cards that were lying dormant in my collection for quite some time like Rouge DK, Doomerang or Roll the Bones. I'm currently even trying Anub'arak!

I found that Kingsbane as is incosistent as people say. Problem is that it is a conditional card. Sure it's already quite strong when you add both Deadly poison and Lifesteal, but the problem is that 3/4 of the time you won't draw all the pieces you want. I think Hearthstone is a game mostly based on what you have 'now' on you, not what you 'potentially' can get... that's why decks like Zoolock are good, cus each card that you draw will add something to your current game (unless your playing a Fatigue or OTK match ). Most of the time Kinsgbane will be a 1 or 3 ATK Weapon that you'll equip 1-2 times in the whole match. That isn't to say it's a bad card, far from it. It's simply not as strong as one might think...

Try it with 2x Cavern Shinyfinder, I'd like to hear your results. Also maybe at least 1 Elven Minstrel because you always lack draw in your decks ;P

Had one, but opened another in a pack so will try. Problem is you still need to draw buffs for the weapon, which is not so obvious usually. Also regarding draw, you would be surprised how many cards 'Roll the Bones' can get you. I already had instances of it drawing me 5-6 cards ;D

EDIT: Just wonderin', did you guys get something good from the 3 KotFT Winter Veil Brawl packs? People were reporting getting some pretty good stuff from them, whereas I got Rotface and 1 golden rare. Maybe some 'forces' are at work here?

I got some dust of those three packs.. That's it really..

We get three more Kobold packs next year because of the weird daily-quest bug..

Looking on the fact this was fixable by changing the games language back and forth, you could say those are entirely free. But yeah, I understand some people who weren't aware of the solution might've lost some gold. Not nice for a bug to persist for so long.

It's interesting to see how cards are finding their place in the meta. Yet again we see that community misdjudged some of them.
- Spiteful Summoner is a staple in Big decks, it brought some forgotten cards like Mind Control back
- Grand Archivist (which I wasn't fond of) has also found it's way into the meta with cards like Free from Amber
- Call to Arms made Paladin Tier 1 again
- Rin the First Disciple is actually played

And finally cards like Possessed Lackey and Carnivorous Cube are staples in one of the most interesting Warlock decks that I've played in a while - Cubelock. While Cube was already recognized as a strong card, who would've guessed it will be used not on Deathrattle minions, but on Doomguards?

Also I found a really cool deck for Rotface:
### Rotface Warrior
# Class: Warrior
# Format: Wild
#
# 2x (1) Shield Slam
# 2x (2) Armorsmith
# 1x (2) Drywhisker Armorer
# 2x (2) Execute
# 2x (3) Acolyte of Pain
# 1x (3) Bouncing Blade
# 2x (3) King's Defender
# 1x (3) Ravaging Ghoul
# 1x (3) Reckless Flurry
# 2x (3) Shield Block
# 2x (4) Death's Bite
# 1x (5) Brawl
# 2x (5) Direhorn Hatchling
# 2x (5) Sludge Belcher
# 1x (6) Emperor Thaurissan
# 1x (6) Justicar Trueheart
# 1x (6) Sylvanas Windrunner
# 1x (6) Unidentified Shield
# 1x (7) Lesser Mithril Spellstone
# 1x (8) Rotface
# 1x (10) N'Zoth, the Corruptor
#

It's another players decks which I modified slightly. It preforms exceptionaly well even though I didn't trigger the Rotface + Bouncing Blade combo (which is the highlight of the deck) even once

Cubelock is currently the strongest and most fun to play from all the netdecks out there I think. Can't remember last time when I enjoyed playing a netdeck.

Now I'll tell you something stupid: I've dusted one Carnivorous Cube before I discovered this deck. It's still strong without two copies, but I thought Cube wouldn't ees play outside of Deathrattle deck in which I thought it would be too slow to justify using two of.

Probably the worst dust-centered decision if my life, even above not disenchanting that one of the two copies of Call of the Wild when it was in the refund period...

THE CUBE IS INSANE!!!

Cubing the new Voidlord is so annoying.. How do you play around 2 voidlords.. it produces so many taunts.. Yikes!

Going to be playing paladin tomorrow. I got a decent amount of cards so it is going to be fun to play some of the new stuff.

I'm thinking of crafting Val'nyr. It's seems like a card that actually fits into any Paladin deck, and that's a first rule for a good class Legendary for me.

Going back to Cubelock, I just can't get enough of this deck. It's so fun to play. At the same time it's a deck that really manages with any current meta deck. Priest is troublesome, but only if he outvalues you.

It so happens that resurrecting two Voidlords is such a pain in the back that my opponents choose to concede most of the time. I knew this card will be strong, but it really shines with DK.

I have Val'Nyr. It is nice. I still have to utilize it to its fullest potential. You know the dobbelgangster scenario

The voidlord is unbalanced? Or am I being too salty here? I guess that 1 is easy to get rid of.. but two?!

Like I mentioned before I want to try the Galvadon + Lynessa buff deck. Someone also mentioned Zola is great in a scenario when you copy Galvadon with her. I will try to gather the pieces one by one

EDIT: I tried my Taunt Druid after some tweaks with Kobolds cards. Turns out Ixlid (which I finally used after getting him in a pack) is preeety good in this type of deck. If opponent has no removals he will stay protected behind a Taunt wall. This leads to situations like two Hadronoxes or two Ettins

yay i reached legend with rinlock. just feasted upon the countless of aggro decks while not facing many priests.

voidlord is sort of OP but only against aggro. as a 9 mana minion it isn't oppressive in a pure controll face-off. nullified by silence as well and spoils the demon pool with 1/3's. but when cheated out with skull or lackey it's insane i agree

Yeah Voidlord spawning 3 1/3's to the Demon pool is its biggest downside. Usually I find myself trying to either focus on making a Taunt wall with Bloordreaver if I'm low on Health or hold with Voidlords until I spawn a few Doomguards.

I find that Priest is the hardest matchup for Cubelock as it can really troll your deck... depending on the archetype you're facing he can steal or AoE your minions. I hate it when he manages to steal cards like Voidlord or Twisting Nether.

EDIT: So I've been playing Dungeon Run for some time and I came to a conclusion that it would still need some balancing (if they ever decide to expand this mode).

Why do I get the feeling that I need to 'cheat' my way to win? Didn't get Jade cards as Rouge? Tough luck, try again. You see, most of the time you end up with inconsistent decks while your AI opponents have refined decks. How do you beat Elder Jari who has a refined ramp big minion deck with one Assasinate and 2 Preperations? Sure you can say tough luck, but it starts to become pretty devious after you loose to the 5th boss again not because of his OP-ness but because he outvalues your deck (most of them have 30 cards and you have 15, c'mon!). They need to rebalance some classes to at least give you a chance to win, like different match-ups or card picks (like a bigger chance to continue your synergy theme ex Jade, Deathrattles etc). I know I said Dungeon Crawler RPG's are supposed to be hard, but playing them has other merits like enjoying your time with friends etc. Here you're getting a measly cardback...

Is the goal with Rin-lock to play Azari or is it mainly to control?

I understand your point, Blob. But to be honest I do not care that you need C'thun and jades to win. They are indeed best ways to win, but I won with other cards than those. I still get so much joy out of Dungeon run. I am only missing druid completion, then I am done.

Dungeon runs have taken 80% of my time. Then I do a quest whenever they match my two playable decks (pala and evovle shaman). Else I just keep rotating them to get other quests..
I have no luck with pack openings. No of the good epics (corridor creeper, spiteful summoner etc.) and no new legendaries since launch day.

EDIT: Just completed with Druid as well! Wuhu! I had an insane quest-druid deck and I met all the "good" bosses.
Two highlights:
1. Thanks to the dobble battlecry boss, I had multiple barnabus and Tyrantus due to the menagerie warden.
2. I went up against the discard final boss (the easiest imo). I managed to make her discard the nether portal. She had nothing. Nothing to deal with my board full of very big beasts and dragons.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Hearthstone-ers!

Here's hoping we will keep my current favourite thread on Heroes Community (oh the irony!) alive!

A nice article on Hearthpwn summerizing year 2017 in Hearthstone.

It's quite "Astounding!" that I've stayed with Hearthstone although I declared I will drop it somewhere in the middle of the year. Good job Blizzard! It stays as my longest continiously played game (I think Heroes III is the game I played the longest over the years, but with pauses ofc).

I think this was a great year for Heartshtone overall, more so then 2016 probably. My favourite two things from the year 2017 are undoubtly:
- no duplicate Legendaries. If only this would come earlier I wouldn't loose 17 x 1200 dust (yes, I keep track of all my Legendaries and pack openings). This change and some other cool additions are probably the reason I stayed with Hearthstone
- Un'Goro expansion - imo the best ever expansion for the game. Blizzard has really raised the bar with this one. Not only it was such a cool theme it also introduced so many good and playable cards, even if some of them lost their shine over the year (Quests, Elemental tribe). Kobolds & Catacombs is pretty rad in terms of content and flavour, but I find it contending for second place with WotOG.

Aside from that, though Blizzard is still slow to react I find them really 'trying' to improve the expierience. Mechanic overhauls, cool events with free stuff and some shy tries on balancing the cards. There's still a lot of room for improvement, but keep up the good work Team 5 Guys!

Lastly I want to THANK YOU Guys for keeping this thread alive. You don't know how important it is for me to get some stuff out of my chest here from time to time. I prefer to have a few 'listeners' then to be lost somewhere in the flood of comments on other community sites. Sorry if I was a %^& sometime, I'm continiously trying to 'improve' since I had that 2016's conflict with Abaddon (hope you're still out there somewhere!). Here's hoping for an even better year 2018 in Heartshone and I hope there will be more people active in this thread.

Happy New Year to as well.

It has indeed been a good year for Hearthstone. I too have stated that I was going to drop the game at multiple occasions; After Gadgetzan before Un'Goro, at the end of Un'goro, a month into Death Knights. But as always this game is so addictive and much more of a leisure game than a competitive game for me. It is a game where you zone out for 30-60 minutes.

My highlights would be
- Dungeon run. Never had I have so much fun with this game. I have spend countless hours already clearing the nine classes. I would love to see more content like this and as we all keep talking about with more rewards. Just grant me 1 card pack and a card back. Easily enough to satisfy me.
- Un'Goro expansion. The best expansion so far. I believe they managed to bring enough new features, a somewhat balanced set and a fun theme that felt alive.

I too like coming here from time to time. I mainly come here to discuss HS, I guess I feel more in tune with you guys than a place like Hearthpwn
