It's funny how usually it's the "salt" that brings us back to this thread.

I must say nowadays the game doesn't give me bad experiences. I only play it from time to time and when I loose I'm like "oh, a netdeck so it figures". I think it's mainly because they tweaked the dailies. Most of them can be completed without so much as winning, and it was especially visible with the "Time walk" event dailies (which should be brought back in the future btw )

To give a bit of salt though, I mob-voted for Dog in the Championships. But I simply didn't know any of the other players, they weren't even ranked in like first 30 places!

I'm more concerned about the lack of info about next expansion though, it's about time they announce it...

Same here, mostly good experiences. Mostly Definitely one reason is that you can complete the dailies without winning, so you can play whatever you want. Trying a homebrewn Even Mage lately lol and it sucks but I am liking playing it.

Well I finally build something I wanted since day one of WW, my so-called "Self-Kill Warlock" deck. You know, with all those WW self damage/Lifesteal cards. And you guessed it, it's not that good, but playable.

So we finally got a teaser of a teaser, but it's really confusing. I suppose it's about the newest expansion (the time is ripe, pun intended), alas why the hell are they advertising fruits? Well, there's actually a botanical garden in Netherworld. It's what came to my mind cause I was reading about the zone before. The theme eludes me though...

Turns out the "July 12th fruit teaser" was an announcement for some event in Brasil (Source).

So no expansion reveal for you!

PS: Or they might announce it there...

EDIT: So they dropped the bomb. Literally.

ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO, which is quite cool actually.

Next Hearthstone expansion is called "The Boomsday Project" and it releases on 7th of August. I don't know if this is a leak or not at this point...



Apparently it's a nostalgic comeback to GvG themes: Mechs, mad experiments etc. And yes, it is set in Netherstorm.

New things:
Magnetic -> play a Mech or use it to buff another Mech.
Projects -> spells that work on both players
Omega -> cards that gain new abilities when played for 10 mana

And finally: Legendary Spells!

I love the return to mechs. I have for some weird reason been missing them?

The whole announcement was so CRINGY!! But I think there are some new and fresh ideas (unlike Witchwood, which was boring).

Well I liked the announcement. It was meant to be cheesy, and they did a good job with that. I personally think they are getting better with those each iteration.

Imo they are aware of their lack of acting skills, yet they do look like they are enjoying it to their fullest. They could hire professional actors, but Hearthstone has always had this "amateurish" vibe around it and I think they want to keep it that way. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but maybe they want to encourage the community, show them that "normal" people can participate, hence things like Fireside Gatherings etc. Maybe in truth Hearthstone is artificially kept that way, we can see Blizzard influence in some aspects of development, mainly the "pay us money" policies like the recent "Mecha-Jaraxxus" alternative hero (didn't they say they will stir away from pay-only portraits?).

About the expansion: going back to Mechs is nice. It's been ages since those had a meaningful impact on the metagame (aside from some Wild decks). I remember Mech-Mage being  my first ever high-win rate cancer deck (I think only Smorc and Zoo decks preceded them, but I didn't play them this much). Aside from that, we have Netherstorm so I wonder if we will get Kael'Thas Sunstrider as a Legendary? I think it's highly possible. I just hope they won't affiliate him with some weird mechanic, I'm still a bit salty with Graymane being the "even" Legendary.

Magnetic seems like a potent mechanic. A lot of versatility. Play a minion, or buff one on the board for tempo push. Great strategic value and high potential to become "Discover" tier mechanic.

Omega could be meh. It's nice to have cards that "evolve" the longer the game gets, but even with powerful buffs a 10 mana play must be really impactful. People usually keep 10 mana cards only for specific roles.

Legendary spells. Probably are the last highly requested feature left to implement (with new Classes rather not happening). As with Quests, highly dependent on the metagame and nerfs. Might be another case of cards that initially go for the "wow" effect, but are left in the dust as meta progresses. We will have to see.

I am on board again Wronchi animation is just great. It makes me like the theme more to be honest.

I also like how the reveals will now be more interactive with the legendary or maybe later on regular cards interacting and coming alive.

The new mage legendary is great. A "new" mechanic will really add some flavour to the upcoming meta.

I'm more interested in Shamans new Legendary, Electra:
- Elemental
- cheap
- normal stats
- great effect

Aside from the obvious "double Bloodlust" combo which will be the new cancer, there are simply so many possibilities: suddenly even a simple Lightning Bolt becomes a 6 dmg for 1 mana spell. Or it can even be used with Evolve for double effect in Wild. Call in the Finishers for Murloc Quest. Or with Healing Rain etc. Probably my first "must-craft" cus I like Elementals.

This expansion is starting to make a lot of good effort on the social media / marketing side of things.

A cringy announcing video. A small wronchi short video for Facebook&YouTube and now stories for instagram (also in WronchiAnimation style).

The instagram stories showcased a few new possible spells and just a great little universe.

The reveals are supposed to start at 23rd of July... yet they are actually spilling cards here and there, so can't say for sure...

Midsummer Festival started on Monday, I had a feeling it would be so and thus saved three quests for maximum value. It would be nice if Blizzard was a little bit more informative in this aspect.

The new Shaman card is another solid addition to any Elemental deck, maybe even for any class deck in general (as any 2/2 minion that generates more value). It seems they heard the "make Shaman great again" cries.

I wonder how many existing lore characters we will get, so far aside from Dr. Boom they are going for the creative side of things...

Any cards that promote midrangy shaman like Menacing Nimbus instead of the god awful Shudderwok Shaman is fine in my book The Shaman Legendary is the best card so far, like Brann for Spells. Wish it was a neutral card... Stargazer Luna is for a burn deck at least, I am not yet seeing another good use for her.

In my mind this card is an attempt to "fix" Shaman. One of the most criticized mechanics in Hearthstone is Overload. It's a mechanic that was supposed to give Shaman an edge. All was well until powercreep simply made it irrelevant, as the game started to be progressively faster, and each Class got access to some cheaper and stronger alternatives which don't hurt tempo. A card like Electra paves a way for some really strong powerplays, or bursts. It can also help control decks. Additionally it enhances Elemental decks which traditionally need to reduce the number of available spells in order to keep Elemental synergies. With Electra not only you extend the Elemental synergy, you still get to play "two spells". I can't discern this from the wording, but I wonder if it doubles the Overload effect (that would make the card slightly less powerful).

A good attempt in my book.

EDIT: So, another good Legendary to craft - Zilliax (source).



Solid on it's own (Rush + Divine Shield and Lifeasteal to boot) and fits into absolutely any Mech deck. What's not to like...

I'm wondering about the Magnetic mechanic. I thought it will work by placing a card over the other, but it's actually dependent on the side your playing it...

I like that it is a choose which side effect. Makes it a lot cooler to stratigies.

The mechs so far look really cool to be honest. The legendary is solid if you merge and the new paladin is annoying as hell.. Either merge it with something or throw a Spikeridge steed on it.. so annoying.
