While you guys probably know I don't play Arena anymore, I think those changes are a bit too much. I think the most fun about Arena was that so many unpopular cards were played and even got a different treatment in Arena ("oh, this will actually be a good Arena card" etc), and now Arena will pretty much become as flat as Standard (even if more balanced). They're taking the easiest approach (scrap old cards instead of balancing) and that is not cool...

Which of those changes you don't like, or not any of them?

I personally like all of them except changing it to Standard format from Wild. Maybe there is too much work for them with such a massive card pool, that I do not know though.

Well the whole concept of changing the card pool for Standard probably kills any slight chance of me getting back to Arena. Plus it will finally make some of the cards dead for good. Rest of the changes are not so bad I guess, but if I would need to pick the ones I don't like the most:

"They want realistic synergies in to draft in the Arena"

Wasn't the point of Arena to make a player able to win games with random decks (well there is some control over draft, but still)? The more synergies the more OP a deck will be in Arena...

"We will see more spells in our drafts"

I think spells give players an edge. Well they will kinda 'nerf' Flamstrike in Arena, but there are still other good AoE spells for instance, even if they reduce their drafting chance.

Don't get me wrong, these are my personal thoughts. Because I don't play Arena I might've lost touch with how it looks nowadays, but from what I'm reading not much has changed. Those changes might enchance the expierience overall, but imo it's all forshadowed by the format change... but again, let's see how it will turn out.

I don't play arena either. This makes me think that Blizzard wants to continue with themed cards like Jade Golems, which will be super bad without other Jade cards. They could exclude them like C'thun cards but then Arena will not change much in each expansion.

Arena is said to be pretty broken because certain cards appear a LOT, like Abyssal Enforcer, Flamestrike, Kabal Talonpriest etc. So people who I have talked to have not been happy about how it is currently.

Why not just have Standard and Wild arena, and yes you can leave the Wild unbalanced because people who want random games don't really mind that aspect at all.

As for more spells, well the thing I found utterly boring about Arena was it was just minion after minion after minion and thanks, gg. So if I were to play arena I would want more spells, buut, I don't think I still will play it even with these changes

@Minion It appears that the players like us who don't play Arena have the most to say about it They should've kept two types of Arena, but maybe it's not good from a technical point of view (more stuff too maintain etc). But same here, I doubt I will go back to Arena.

Out of curiousity though I'm gonna have to ask my friend about the changes, he almost only plays Arena...

I am assuming some synergistic theme again, because of the changes to the Arena. Either stronger beast theme or a dinosaur theme althogether. Probably something simple like "the next Dinosaur you play will get +1/+1" and "the next Dinosaur you play gains charge". They don't like too complicated themes.

Well I'm pretty calm myself. With dust from nerfs and this whole Hall of Fame thing I will have enough dust for at least 4 Legendaries. Bring it on!

Pushing for Beast archetypes, yet again Beast decks were almost there, but at the end of the day Hearthtone is still too fast for Beasts.

Speaking of fast, it's about time for another expansion. For the past 3 days 90% decks that I faced were either Pirate Warrior or Pirate/Jade Rouge. It's pretty disheartening...

It will be an interesting day tommorow. It's end of Feb, so they should at least announce the nerf-patch

My quick thoughts:

- Legendary spells [Quest] are a kind of conditional cards similiar to 'if no duplicates' card types. The one they showed works in a way that when you play 7 Deathrattle minions over the game you'll get an uber Priest Legendary. But I have my doubts about this, we all know how conditional (read: slow) cards work in todays fast-paced meta. That aside another interesting idea to flesh out some mechanics or invitation to play some cards/deck types. I wonder if other effects will be worth building decks around Quests.
- [Adapt] is a hybrid mechanic that seems to take sth from Discover, Choose one and Kazakus power. This only seems like a natural evolution of things that worked out in the past
- A new tribe yay [Elemental]! I belive this is not what most of us expected but new tribes are always welcome. Plus I'm 99% certain we will get Therazane (a Legendary of course) this time.
- Dinosaurs!
- Pyros is another interesting option for longer games, again though it's usefulness depends on how much slower the game will become... I think it would work a tad better as Priest Legendary, together with the new Quest card Awaken the Makers.
- Release date is early April which is a bit surprising cause I thought it will be near end of March. But that's good, more time to prepare...

my thoughts:

Legendary Quests: Slow .. slow.. soooo slow - I wonder if we will in time see some "faster" and "weaker" quest cards?
Elemental: Yay - a new tribe is indeed good to see. Maybe I can get trolls one day? And I do not think we get Therezane this time around - she is not connected to Ungoro?
Adapt: fantastic mechanic. Gives a lot of room to play with and very easy to expand in the future. I would love to see more of this at least.
Release date: Whaaaaat? I had a march feeling.. But april and then we get new cards to look at in late march :/

The theme:
I think it is awesome. It is more in the style of LoE, which I love and they bring back one of the vivid characters. I am all for that.

Sorry mate but this was brought up many times already. The 'intro' cards from cinematics are randomized. This might not even be a Warlock card to begin with. Btw does anybody know what race this is? Scratch that, this is something Team 5 came up with...

And does Therazane not fit here? I would say there wasn't a better moment to introduce her ever, and here's why:
- She's an Elemental Lord, and they're officially introducing and [Elemental] tribe...
- The theme is primal. Primal = primal forces and what's not more primal then elements?
- It's about frigging time!

The theme is overall cool. Blizzard does it really well when it comes to such themes (at least from my perspective). I really liked Zerus in Starcraft 2, and this is kinda similiar, but with Dinosaurs instead of Zergish mutants

PS: Here's a new card

I surely do like the theme, Blizzard nails it again! Therazane should appear now, all other Elemental Lords are already here ^^

I disagree about Zerus though, god I think they really messed the lore up xD

I did not know that they are randomized, but none the less I love the artwork and cannot wait for the reveal. Hoping for a lightning-shield-turtle

The raptor-warlock/shaman artwork is pretty neat.

- I gotta say that Zerus was not a bad questline, but just wasnt original. It felt a little forced to be honest. And now you mention it the artwork and part of the theme does look similar.. Oh well.. I am still hyped for this..

oh and the reason for me not thinking Therazane will show up is she resides in Deepholm and I just think they will stay true to Un'Goro and leave her out.

But honestly, theme looks promissing with quest seeming to be a nice mechanic, not a huge fan of adept though as it is very similair to discover, but discover seems more fun to me because you are not stuck to a pool of 10 options

I actualy think it's a solid card.

- either destroy a huge minion or some smaller minions
- drop down a Acoloyte of pain and draw 3 cards (shaman don't have lifetap)
- no fear of hurting your own hero

Thats a whole lot of flexibility for a controll card....

Elemental destruction/lightning is only better against a lot of smaller minions but becomes less reliable with azure drake leaving standard

It is a strong card - for Control Shaman. My point is that if they keep Aggro Shaman or Midrange Shaman superstrong with other new cards then no one will play Volcano, because it doesn't fit into either of those decks But there is hoping that we could have several archetypes for Shaman.
