It's interesting how old decks can sometimes work quite well in the current meta.

Btw I know Rouge had it rough for some time, and now has it's time to shine, but I think Preperation is a spell that needs to be nerfed or 'Hall of Famed' at some point. The card brings too much of a tempo swing, even pre Quest Rouge I was really irritated how it worked with Auctioneer.

---

Hmm because I enjoy Elemental decks quite a lot I want to try Elemental Mage. As such I wonder if I should craft Pyros. It's not a must-craft by any means, but I think it would work really well in such a deck, it's good to have a a guaranteed Elemental enabler, on the other hand there aren't that many Elementals to activate...

The question is does any kind of Elemental deck work without Kalimos and Fire Elemental...

EDIT: Oh wait this weeks brawl gives you pre-maid Un'Goro decks and one of them is Elemental Mage. Nice way to try it out! Btw a really good idea coming from Blizzard, but they should make such Brawls pre-release, cause people would know what to craft based on their preferences and test runs... either way if Quest Rouge won't dominate it I will be playing a lot of this Brawl!

I agree with you on preparation.

- I just started my first brawl of this week, but it is a good brawl! It is nice to see Blizzard do this "service" of sorts to us. Giving us some decks to play which showcase the new expansion.

I saw the deck-lists on Hearthpwn. There are some cool decks to try out.

I do not agree with you that it should have been out before the expansion. Imo it should have been the first brawl after the release as to serve as inspiration. But hey great brawl!

YES! I just opened Ysera from the brawl pack! Wuhu!

A few thoughts after playing the Brawl:

- Elemental Mage is indeed fun. I will consider crafting Pyros, her animation is sick btw...

- Paladin Quest is well... weak. I've played Galvadon a couple of times and each time the choices weren't solid. Not once he changed the course of the game. You usually expect more from a Quest reward.

- Druid Quest is fun and easy to trigger imo. The only dowsnide is that Barnabus doesn't reduce the cost of the cards in your hand, but guess that makes sense. Still, play sth like Nourish and you're set

- Warlock Quest is actually solid (I didn't face it that many times so I had a chance to try it with the Brawl). Discardlock can run without it, Zavas is more useful, but it fits in the deck overall, gives a bit more juice/pressure lategame and sometimes that was a problem in this type of deck...

While I agree that paladin is generally weak, yesterday I played a game as a priest against one, he summoned galvadon on turn 5 and had stealth, windfury and 12 attack, yikes!

The worst part? I still won (was able to play amara on turn 6).

The various decks in the brawl are really fun to play, no complaints, just sad I don't have dust left to create any of these decks.

Barnabus isn't that great in constructed sadly, aggro, waygate and both garden rogue + quest rogue eat me alive.

I really like the Tavern Brawl, I especially have fun with the Elemental Mage. I don't think it is the strongest but it is fun. Also because all decks are pre-made you can rest assured there is no super aggro decks to face so you can calmly try to get your quest (which is harder on Ladder) haha.

What to me at least has been TERRIBLE is the Warlock Quest. I had Clutzmother (lol spelling) a hundred times in my hand, I have never yet discarded her One time I had BOTH of the Golems and the Mother in hand and I discarded all other cards but those three. So no, I don't like this deck at all. *salty salt salt* Also planning anything is pointless, because for SURE you will discard the Twisting Nether, so don't bother making any plays that would work with that card in your hand later lol. Hence the only way for discardlock to work is with aggro/tempo decks, so the Quest is just bad... I think we would need a card that says "Discover a card you discarded this game", if there is any change for a control type of discardlock.

Use deathwing, I guarantee that the cards that need to be discarded get discarded .

But yeah....RNG is here to screw you over!

Has that worked for you? I was thinking about that being the good way to do it, but I don't have the Warlock Quest so I can't try it...

Well RNG can hit you pretty hard in Discardlock, but keep in mind that this pre-made Discardlock is a Blizzard version which is optimized to be 'solid' not good. It has cards that are never used in a competetive Discardlock like Twisting Nether or Taunts aside from Voidwalker, cause they're simply too slow.

The point of Discardlock is to be aggresive, and use cards which when lost won't break your tempo. If you loose some cards you spam more with hero power or Malchezzars Imp. Basically in Discardlock that I play the only card that's not good to loose is Doomguard cause it's usually a finisher. But that's when Cruel Dinomancer might come in handy, but I don't have it unfortunately, so I can't tell if it's useful enough. And Zavas is good, it's simply another card that you can 'loose' for your benefit.

Most of the Quests are good! I like all except Druid and Warlock, so that is a very good job by Blizzard. I honestly expected only 2 Quests to be playable, haha, my expectations were low And I am glad if you people like the Warlock Quest but it is not for me, I know for sure.

So I finally decided to build a Wild Quest Priest deck. Mainly because how cool playing Shredders with Umbra is.

But watching some videos one cool combo has caught my eye. You Guys remember Majordomo Executus? An interesting concept thwarted by the 8 HP thing. Well with Amara now you can set you're HP to 40

EDIT: Speaking of Priest does anyone has some expierience with Lyra (Priest Legendary)? She was initially bashed, but turns out she's quite good and people are reconsidering their view of this card. Interestingly being an Elemental herself she is used in this type od deck. Elemental style deck is actually the last I would expect from Priest On the other hand as soon as I've seen Radiant Elemental I knew some kind of spell-based Priest would appear, the card is just that good (and has better statline then Apprientice). Here's one which I would really like to try. Drats, so many good cards this expansion...

EDIT 2: Nice! I voted for Rutgers in Tespa Collegiate Series and they won the tourney. As you might've guessed the team was a complete unknown for me (I didn't even know such a University existed), but a guy advertised it somewhere on Reddit that they have a really promising Hearthstone section so I decided to give it a go. If I'm correct that's 3 Gadgetzan packs for me

I have faced Lyra a couple times, and just today I faced a dude who got his first Lyra from Barnes. Then he copied his Lyra with Miragecaller also lol, it was a close game it went to fatigue. Well I was lucky I pulled his Amara with Dirty Rat - he would probably have won otherwise, it was so close.

1. I loved last weeks brawl. I have not played this much brawl in ages! I loved almost all of the decks. I played Warrior, Mage and Druid the most. Three classes I rarely play.

2. Just turned Golden with my hunter. Yay! First golden

3. Lyra the sun shard is popping up a lot these days? There are some crazy experiments with priest I suppose.

4. I have just faced two plant-rogues .. Is that a new thing as well?

Im the same lol, i had like 50 wins or something in the tavern brawl.

Im facing about 50/50 Quest Rogues and Sherazin Rogues. Nice development. Maybe quest is less popular now becaus Midrange Hunter is very popular, and it punishes quest rogue hard (no healing or taunts lol). Quest Mage is also gone, just when i got the quest from a pack! replaced with freeze mage lol. Blob2 is surely not happy about that xD

Yes! Questmage has disappeared. And questrogue is more rare these days. I guess that it is because the quest mechanic is too slow in the end and some of the quests rely heavy on combos and topdecking the right cards.

After the first month of the new expansion the only quests I really want to play is quest-warrior and quest-priest. I had such a fun time playing quest warrior and priest in last weeks brawl. I loved the controllish nature of the warrior and I loved the reno-feeling of quest-priest. Those two archetypes are quite fun imo. The rest of the quests are pretty.. boring or plain bad.

Murloc Quest is pretty fun also. And I agree on Priest Quest being Reno like. From my point of view it's even better cause it's a big reason to play Deathrattle minions and I like Deathrattle Priest. And you still can play Kazakus.

Actually I would like to play some more Hearthstone. Nowadays I only play the game in short burst and I don't even 'feel' the meta atm. Most of the stuff I'm reading on Hearthpwn seems distant to me. I never felt there was 'a lot of Quest Rouge around' and now I read it was pushed back. Same goes for Waygate Mage. And what about Elemental Shaman? Are peopel playing it?

But that's good, most decks still feel fresh this way. For instance I want to play Hunter Quest some more cause I like it.

Elemental Shaman is played decently often, it is behind the "big three" in popularity, that is Hunter, Rogue and Warrior. They hover around 20% share each, and rest classes are around 10% each, only Warlock being the least played atm at 5%.

So the meta is clearly more diverse now, when in Gadgetzan Hunter and Paladin were barely getting 1% played each. *shrugs*

Brode says that Adventures will now be free, released with 'normal expansions' and give packs as rewards. I think it's better this way. Adventures usually gave you some nice guaranteed cards in return but I disliked the fact you needed to pay around 3500 dust for it instead of buying packs. The grind was getting tiresome.

Quest Mage must be some of the most rewarding deck out there. Too bad the chances for a perfect game are usually very slim...

I cannot wait for these new adventures. When they announced this change I was so glad. I didn't want the adventures to go away, because the storytelling has been above average since first released.

This is a great chance for them to highlight the coming expansions and their archetypes. I love it!

Now I seriously think Blizzard is trolling me. I opened a second 'Unite the Murlocs' in a span of 10 packs. That's my second duplicate Legendary after Open the Waygates I wonder if getting duplicate Legendaries is a glitch of some kind, you guys remember how I got Anub'arak the same way?

EDIT: I faced a player named r67055 that just reeks of bot. I reported him.

That being said the whole situation showed me (again) how rotten this game can be:
- he (it?) played Pirate Warrior, a very interactive deck that wins games on auto-pilot. And he didn't even need to go full face. In Wild, a mode which supposed to be fun and for non-competetive decks.
- queueing players in two or more times in a row. I really hate it. It usually happens to me when I face BM players with netdecks. It's a chance to get back at them and sometimes I do, but getting beaten two times in a row with cancer is not a nice feeling.
- a couple of months in, and Pirate Warrior has the same cards and the same level of effectivness...

I have not met bots, but it is going to be a sad world if they start appearing.. sigh

There are a lot of pirate warriors again indeed. I hate it. Ruins the game.

I have a big issue you with my elemental shaman, not powerful anymore. I need both Blazecallers and I believe those two are the issue..

Three free packs today. Pretty neat. Great to see Blizz & Hearthstone team give some stuff away
