YAY! Thank god the Coldlight Oracle is gone, I really dislike playing against it. It is not like you can always play around it. I am torn about the Ice Block, because in controllish type decks it made Mage unique, and I kinda liked it. Freeze Mage was cancer though, so ultimately it is good it is gone.

Overall without the Patches the meta has been better, although I can't play my Alanna Mage because of Paladins lol, the Divine Shield is super effective against board clears. Been playing Spiteful Priest, which also loses to Paladin but not as badly.

Decks that I hate - Big Priest, Cubelock. Imagine that, no aggro decks in my most hateful deck list ;P

Naga Sea witch was sort of buffed before to make my wild laddering annoying, also bane of doom was buffed 2 years ago allowing it to summon any demon instead of 1 out of 5 bad to mediocre demons.

Big priest is only annoying because of Barnes ( the most stupid card ever printed) and cubelock would be fine without another broken stupid card that is - dark pact.

For me Ice Block is a unique card, but I really dislike how it "cheats" +1/2 more turns for Mage which usually is enough for a player to win the game. Really irritating when playing against. Same goes for Coldlight Oracle, its' mechanic is abused too much. I think that the feeling of not be able to do anything via unintecractive mechanics is one of the worst things in the game (even if there are ways to play around them), second only to loosing via RNG/topdeck. That's why I dislike Freeze Mages or Mill decks... those decks are simply bad for the 'fun' factor of the game, even though I know people who like these archetypes.

Btw do you guys remember how the "refund" thing worked for the Hall of Fame cards? Is it worth to craft Golden versions of cards?

Hmm last time it was like if you have the regular copies then it is not worth it. But if you don't have the cards at all it is worth crafting them in gold. I don't know if it works the same way now :S

It kinda is worth to craft since in my opinion what will happen is you will just get the full dust value without disenchanting them, but I do not think you will also get full dust value also when u disenchant them, so if u have a golden ice block you will recieve 1600 dust but if u then disenchant it I think you will only get 400.

In regards to ice block I really enjoyed playing the classic freeze mage back in the day, still do sometimes in wild, it had a lot of bad matchups which made it a balance deck, but in my opinion it is not in that deck that ib became a problem but more likely in quest mage and the new tempo secret mage; not to mention that adding a lot of random generating spell cards you would have to face sometimes 3 or 4 ib's when playing against quest mage, unlike the 2 in freeze which cannot have room for cards that generate spells in the deck.
Also in freeze mage u have a fixed ( not word by word but in the general sense) amount of damage u can do, so although ib can help u prolongue the game, this doesn't always translate into a win, because some decks can just go out of your damage range; but that is not the case with quest mage.

But if you have both Golden and Normal copies you only get the dust for the Golden copy.

Wild Brawliseum reminded me why I can only treat this game casually.

Went with a swarm deck. Faced 3 Priests who literally had 3/4 of their decks either made of board clears or Ressurect cards (and who of course "cheated out" Obsidian Statue). How I love to play against Priests yet the game always seems to put them against me when I care for good results. It's the same on Ladder, it's the same in Arena. Hence I can only treat this game casually, to free myself from being angry

I recently got Zola the Gorgon in a pack. Pretty nice Legendary that appears to be playable in many decks. For instance I use it in Cubelock to spam more Cubes or Doomguards It's one of those cards that aren't staple in decks, but can be used in many with success.

Might be, especially if Lunara Hero portrait can be seen as a teaser. Maybe it will be something darker, with Nightmare Ysera etc...

It's about time they started to tease us, dates align with how previous expansions were introduced (late Feb to early March).

True. Though hero portraits rarely allign with new expansions. but a nightmare expansions sounds fun; yet a little whispers of the old gods-like

Well I am looking forward to the rotation and a new meta.. It is going to be quite nice I hope.

If there is Nightmare Ysera I hope she is not a card generator because we had Lich King already. Can't wait to see a lot of cards gone in next rotation lol, like Primordial Glyph, OP Dragonic OP, Barnes... oh I have a list

Yes, next rotation will hit Standard pretty hard:
- No Jades
- No Secret Mage (probably)
- No N'Zoth rattle decks
- No Mill decks (probably)
- No Ice Block decks
- No Dragon Priest decks?
- No Evolve Shaman
- Dude/Silver Hand decks will be hit
- Big and Resurrect decks will also be hitted hard (No Barnes and Y'Shaarj)
Phew, that's a long list (and I probably ommited a few more things)...

I wonder if Elemental decks will have a comeback?

BTW I dislike the Ladder changes, even though I never was fond of this mode. Yes I know it's probably better for Legend players (less grind) and that's good of course, but to casuals like me it's even more of a chore to progress, and probably not worthwile... it makes me even less interested in the mode now

EDIT: I think Duskwood is pretty much certain at this point, judging by the art piece.

And because Blizzard likes quirkyness, we will get something like detectives + scooby-doo kind of theme (so detectives + horror, but with a grain of comedy). I don't believe it will be a strictly Emerald Dream theme, but who knows...

Here's a good comment from heartpwn on the matter:
"T5 usually like to have a light narrative thread in their expansions rather than just a generic bunch of cards based on a section of WoW lore. Think the gang war theme to Gadgetzan, the 'party' theme of Karazhan, the 'exploring/journey' theme from Un'Goro or the 'alternate timeline/death knight heroes' of Frozen Throne. Having this expansion based around detectives gives it more of a personality, and helps to hit the more humorous or whimsical tone Hearthstone likes to go for, and give a unique spin on the WoW universe.

It also fits particularly well with the Raven theme, with the birds often seen as enigmatic or portentious. Not to mention the Defias Brotherhood have a big presence in Duskwood, and their shady dealings fit well with this theme."

And there is an emerald dream portal in Duskwood..

Oh well.. I have learned through the years that the expansions ideas I dislike (Old gods, Kobolds, ungoro) are the better expansions. I dislike duskwood theme! So it will mostly likely be great.

Elementals as a tribe at this moment have to big weak spots: 1) the fact that u have to keep the chain going, which most of the time prevents you to do the optimal play, and the pay out isn't something ridiculous; 2) because u have to chain them your play pattern is very predictable so it easy for your opponent to play around stuff.
Right now the only powerful elemntal cards are Grumble and murmuring but they are mostly played in jade shaman decks.
Also cards like Kalimos, fire elemental and blazecaller are decent but lack early game support ( most of the time you lose to aggro by turn 6 or the control and combo decks can do far more powerful stuff from turn 6 onward). Also elementals in shaman have no good on its own 2 drop, 2 defensive mediocre 3 drops, an average 4 drop and an iffy 5 drop; also overload messes up the curve you wanna do most of the time.

In regards to elemental mage, that's not happening they only received value, card generating elementals who cannot form any sort of cohesive deck.

Elementals might shine when rotation hits. A few fast decks will take more hits (after the Corridor Creeper nerf) for instance Paladin will loose a few tools so maybe Dude/Aggro Paladin will be less powerful. I think Elemental decks are currently too slow for the meta.

A question to Priest players: is it worth to keep two copies of Psychic Scream?

The problem with decent decks like jade shaman or jade elemental shaman is that you need 500+ games to be able to get legend in a season with that; while if you just play cubelock you only need under 100 games to get ez legend.

2 psychic scream are only played in big priest I think, u run one copy in control priest and no copy in combo priest or spiteful priest.
(might be wrong since i never play priest but I think that is accurate based on what I see on ladder)
elemental decks will be a thing only if they get a bunch of powerful cards, otherwise they cannot compete with the powerful decks that will remain or the strong ones that will be created with the next expansion.

The curtain has risen: The Witchwood is Hearthstones next expansion!

First thoughts:
- once again they played with us a bit. Everyone thought it will be a detective theme, but they went for Horror and Witchcraft. The presentation was a spoof of Blair Witch Project even, should have guessed when they showed those pictures on Twitter
- I like the theme. It reminds me a bit of Innistrad, my favourite MtG expansion. Coincidence?
- There will be more single player content: Monster Hunts. Good for you emil
- they've teased something like a new Hero card, but with a strange color? I doubt it's a new class, but maybe a neutral hero card? EDIT: seems everyone is guessing it's a Shaman card.

Last but not least there's something that disappointed me quite a bit: Genn Greymane will be introduced into the game... but I don't like the card. They even had such a potential for him, they introduced something like a shapeshift mechanic (see Pumpkin Peasant). Instead they gave him bad stats and a limiting mechanic...

EDIT: I hope Monster Hunts will be better then Dungeon Runs. The mode is seriously unbalanced. I went back to it after a break cause I want that cardback and find it as tedious as it was before. Sure, it can sometimes be fun, but most of the times it's not. It has sth like 40 different bosses, but I constantly face Blackseed or Elder Jari which are totally unbalanced. Their hero powers/decks are simply too much. The idea is good but they should've balanced it more. You can't base your performance in this mode basically only on RNG...

Ok! So Rush is what most Charge cards should be like. Charge should be a very limited option for a few cards, where as Rush can be given to a wider variety of creatures. Fighting for board is so much more interesting than going face, just saying.

Echo seems pretty good because of how versatile it is, but if the cards are just stats, eventually they might not get played. We will see. Baku seems like it could potentially be another Reno or Keleseth - people hate on it but don't see the potential before they actually use it. Again too early to tell yet I find it intriguing (for Priest and Warrior)

Can't wait to do monster hunts non stop for like a week

Also, a thing we can figure out is that since the only new stuff coming is start of the game, echo and rush, and since Hagatha the witch is the new shaman hero card and the only hero card in this exp as stated by ben brode, it is likely that the second legendary for the other classes will be either a weapon or a quest, because if it were to be a new mechanic they would have shown it alongside the other 3.
